Professor Layton Royale, The Social RPG Where You Can Be A Thief Or A Detective

Level 5 have released Professor Layton Royale, their social “reasoning RPG” developed in collaboration with DeNA for the Mobage platform. Professor Layton Royale is a crossover with DeNA’s own Kaito Royale series, and will be released for smartphones and Japanese feature phones alike.

In Professor Layton Royale, you get to choose whether you want to be a thief, detective or just an ordinary citizen of London, similar to players taking on different roles in tabletop RPGs.

Depending on your role, you have different goals and achieve them out in different ways. Detectives, for example, will cooperate with the citizens to further their investigation, while criminals would have to avoid getting caught.

Since this is a role-playing game, you can move freely throughout the city. Like other Mobage titles, Professor Layton Royale is a free-to-play game with a micro-transaction system.

You mean they just reused all the sprites to rake in some cash? F*ck yea.

This looks neat, but they can keep it so long as we get the Layton Brothers game for the iPod in English.
