Words cannot express how excited I am for this game. With this and Tales of Graces f, my JRPG void will be filled next year. I love you Level 5 and Namco Bandai. :’) Keep these great games coming!

  • Playlife_2

This game looks sweet and of course I’m gonna buy it next year.

This is one game I can’t wait to hear in english. I usually like the english voice actors they choose for studio ghibli movies. Well… except for Castle In The Sky.

  • http://tristsantithesis.tumblr.com/ Tsunayoshi Sawada

Glorious, I love the art style.

    • aoihana

You mean you love Ghibli, right? o(◕‿◕✿)

  • http://twitter.com/tenetan Tenerezza

I see furigana!!!! Maybe should import this title and use it to help studdy :)

  • Solomon_Kano

Level-5, how I love you. Studio Ghibli too. I need this nowwwww.

  • Xerain

I didn’t have my glasses on so I misread it as “Wrath of the White Witch’s Cuteness.”

I’ve been reading too many messages in Demon’s Souls….

Wrath of the sticky white stuff.

  • Lexaus_the_Alchemist

Pretty amazing attention to the little details for these scenes. Especially Shizuku (I think that’s his name) is just playing around the room while the father and daughter are trying to have a serious conversation.

    Waiting is painful…

Ugh…I actually really have a problem with NiNoKuni’s cutscenes. I mean, the Studio Ghibli connection is so hyped (and rightfully so); how can the use of motion capture for the humans not bug you? Ghibli’s animation just has a certain style to it; a lot of little subtle things that add personality to the characters. This stuff is missing here. Not to mention, when you apply motion capture to stylized characters, they come off as unnatural. They appear to be people in suits, rather than characters moving naturally. It was there in Sonic the Hedgehog 2006, it was there in Eternal Sonata, and it’s here in NiNoKuni…and it’s a shame.

Glad to see they key-animated the Big Cat guy then.

This is my mood after ONCE AGAIN reading your complaints!

      (╬ ಠ益ಠ)

Can you TRY to go on at least a FULL WEEK without criticizing well-deserved projects such as this FOR ONCE?! I beg of you. PLEASE!!!

      • chicken_and_rofls

He has a valid point.  It’d be one thing if he were just throwing around baseless insults, but his current point is very well thought out.  If you don’t agree that’s fine, but your argument that he should shut up just because this game is “well-deserved” sounds a lot more like trolling than the initial post did.

        • http://www.youtube.com/user/Kamek20xxExtra?feature=mhee Michael Stevens

Huh? I’m not trolling…..well if I am then I sincerely apologize. Really.

        • aoihana

I don’t think Michael was being a troll, but rather I think he’s fed up with Vince’s overall negativity. I think a lot of people are, including me. It seems like a lot of articles here are plagued with Vince Vazquez’s Seal of Disapproval which usually starts off with how lack luster a game’s art is and is followed by his share of art expertise.

Honestly, it’s annoying when you have virtually nothing positive to share when you criticize something. It’s like handing in a paper to your teacher/professor and when they hand it back to you, all they commented on was how bad your thesis was. They didn’t even mention how good your points were!

But, even though I don’t really agree with a lot Vince’s comments in general, at least he had a valid point. So, I agree with you there, but you also have to understand how Vince would get that kind of reaction.

          tl;dr

I don’t blame Michael. Even though Vince had a valid point, his seemingly constant negativity could get on peoples nerves.

        • WilliamJasper

Yes, he does have a valid point, but I also agree with Michael. Whether he has valid points or not, I mostly see Vince only complaining about stuff, which is annoying. I’d probably be a little annoyed too if all I hear is a person mostly only focusing on the negatives of games instead of the positives……no offense Vince :P. Also, he never tried to shut him up, just take a break from complaining……from the looks of what I’m reading. Besides, Michael’s only 16 (read from a previous comment). One can’t help at an age to make such mistakes, which he at least apologized for. Finally, I wouldn’t say he’s “trolling”, I’d say he’s lending a hand in the wrong way. -_- The one who’s really being rude and “trolling” in my opinion is Sentoro Katarashi with his “little” comment up there. >:(

    • http://twitter.com/Vanpan110494 Sentoro Katarashi

-.- ……I think you need to go to a hospital and get yourself checked for a condition.

      • Neckbear

I’m with him, though. It’s not as painful as it was in Eternal Sonata, but the characters look unnatural at times when moving. The models feel more like puppets or ragdolls, or as Vince described them, “people in suits, rather than characters moving naturally”.

Besides, some expressions come just as unnaturally- and they’re more noticeable when it’s done in motion capture for a reason.

    • http://www.youtube.com/user/Kamek20xxExtra?feature=mhee Michael Stevens

      Aaaaah…..Thank you guys…..I’m so sorry, Vince. Really….but I try
to ignore your complaints, which I read so many from you…….I know you have a valid point….you actually have valid points most of the time, and I admire your points and how honest you are, but is there such a reason to complain almost every time, mostly only looking at the negatives? I previously was being nice, but it just annoyed me so much. So sorry though…..ಥ_ಥ

      • WilliamJasper

Aww, how sweet…… Case closed for Michael Stevens of chicken_and_rofls identifying him as a troll for…..some reason. Everyone’s happy……Now as your lawyer, you must pay money to me. :3

          (ಠ_ಠ)…….(¬_¬)……..(._.)……(´-`).。oO( … ) *thinking*…….¯_(ツ)_/¯

  • Nemesis_Dawn

That looks amazing. The character movements just look so natural. It’s beautiful and I can’t wait to play it.

  • http://twitter.com/FaithlessMr Bruno Silva

The music is awesome. The last scene actually moved me, I must say.

  • darkraiders

I wonder how many voice actors they use for video games in Japan since most of the time when i hear a voice in a video game i already have heard the same voice in so many other games before it seem like they always use the sames few voice actors.

    • Mr_SP

America isn’t any different, really. Most established voice actors have dozens of roles over the years. It’s a career, after all. They can’t get away with only  a few.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_472QBVARRYERRGHATSUGCVCTTA Ian

what matter is the game it self…
    i’m not picky about natural/unatural stuff :)

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1514329285 Mathew Macarthur

Next year should come sooner….there’s too many good games a comin’!!! XD

  • xNekux

I’ve been watching Miyazaki’s films since I was 4-5 years old and I have to say I’m a bit disappointed with how this is looking.

  • xXDGFXx

the mouth syncing irks me so o_o
they don’t really form words, they just open o_O

  • Sam Veale

I hope they get decent voice actors for the english version, up to the quality we get from Pixar when they bring over Ghibli movies. A lot of gaming VO work is notoriously terrible and it would really spoil a game like this with so much beauty and creativity.

  • http://openid.anonymity.com/5HuDuQyz Woot

I love how he gulps down the whole egg.

The animation looks kinda iffy…I’m a bit disappointed, but hype is still HIGH for this game.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_J24UY7QAEKQY576PHZYS3EN6BA Celine

? I don’t see too much wrong with the lip syncing. There’s definitely much, much worse that didn’t bother me.
