Blue Wii Headed To America… As A Walmart Black Friday Exclusive

Nintendo of Europe announced a blue Wii bundle with Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games last month. While Nintendo of America haven’t announced a similar bundle yet, Walmart are selling the blue Wii as an exclusive Black Friday deal.

The blue Wii will be on sale on Black Friday (November 25th) for $100. Early birds can pick up Yakuza 4 for $10, Epic Mickey for $15, and Batman: Arkham City for $28 starting on Thursday 10 P.M.

        Well I have been to Black Friday a lot.  I actually don’t mind it and it can be fun.  Walmart however is pretty bad.  The way they seem to structure it is just utter chaos.  If you want to see how to do it right, Toys R Us and Best Buy seem to do a good job to me.  Those places make it very linear and organized and they structure how many people can go in at a time based on the line.  Walmart just lets everybody in the store to run around till they decide that it is time to start opening the large pallets of deals and then who ever is there just starts grabbing.  Coupled with Walmart’s less than sophisticated clientele it makes for some really scary scenes.  Never again.

          “less than sophisticated clientele” lol true that.. it’s really depressing to shop there indeed.. I haven’t been to Walmart in years until several months ago (since they dropped the price for the 3DS 3 days early, but it was sold out anyway).. then it dawned on me why I haven’t been there in so long.. well, none is very close to where I live anyway..

          $12 Gold Live cards, wonder how fast those will go..  Man Yakuza 4 is only $18 now.. I got it for $25 like 2 weeks ago and it’s still sealed.. price dropped pretty fast..

            Yeah but $12 for 3 months is not a huge savings, only $12 off the normal price of a year and many retailers online especially have $50 and even $40 sales on 1 year cards.  It isn’t a bad deal, but not something I would bother with going to the store over.  Looking over most the ads, I just don’t see much I am interested anywhere.  Best Buy has a few things, though mostly I am just surprised those SD and MicroSD cards they are selling are Class 10.  You never see anybody hardly selling Class 10 SD cards, mostly since the general public don’t even know the difference.

            yeah you’re right, later I saw it’s just a 3-month card instead of 12-month, it’s definitely not worth it then..I usually pick up my Live cards for $40 or less when they’re on sale.. doesn’t seem like much except Yakuza 4 for those who don’t have it, but Amazon has it for less than $20 now… and the stripped down Wii is not really worth it either.. it’s interesting you mentioned they took away the stand and recommend vertically orientation now, I never lie my system down that way..  but yeah, not much worth going out on Thursday night I guess..

      I braved Blk Friday a couple of winters (not Walmart though, but Best Buy or Circuit City when it was still around).. hard to get up early in the cold, but got nothing better to do anyway lol.. this year the stores seem to be doing 10pm on Thur night instead of Fri morning. In recent years Amazon always does this overnight price match or lightning deals and such.. so it’s easier getting a similar deal at the comfort of your home..  I might just check out blu-ray movies later that morning or something..

        I haven’t been in years either, I just follow the deals online. Like you said, Amazon has been pretty good lately matching things. I just hope there aren’t too many good deals this year, my wallet can’t take it :P

          Yeah, many online stores tend to match the retail ones too and each other (Best Buy, Kmart, Target, Amazon, Buy.com they pretty much price match each other on most new releases, so if you pay attention there’s lots of deals).  I just hope that they do it in advance instead of a last min lightning deal that some people can’t even click on..  I hope there’s not much either, I think I’m pretty good w/ getting on the new games.. They certainly add up even though each item is cheap.. one year I spent like $800 w/o realizing *.*, just things here and there.. movies, games, etc.. For those who haven’t gotten a 360 yet, there’s lots of deals and it’s a good time to get a Slim w/ a big HDD, Kinect, and games.

          And some workers and customers are alrdy complaining about the opening being moved to Thurs night so they have to leave their family Thanksgiving dinner lol..

            Yea, the last few years I’ve been sitting on edge refreshing Amazon constantly for those Gold Box deals haha I got a DS Lite for $99 one year, Casino Royale for $2. You’re right, a little here a little there, it adds up. Yea, I’m cautiously watching the 360 deals. Hope there’s nothing too tempting, between MGS HD LE, Barnes and Noble Criterion 50% off sale, Dragon Ball Z Dragon Boxes going OOP, I’ve been spending too much lately. Especially with DVDs, I miss the days when you could wait a while and be sure something wasn’t suddenly going OOP.

            lol I’d be pissed about that too if I had to leave dinner

    Don’t forget, that’s probably the Wii with no GameCube backward compatibility.

    I’m going to grab Batman Arkham City. Maybe inFamous 2 for $28 as well… even though I could probably beat it if I borrow it from the library one more time.

        If it’s identical to the blue Wii being released in Europe in that Mario & Sonic at the 2012 London Olympic Games bundle, it won’t support GameCube games or controllers. Since Nintendo hasn’t said anything yet, we’ll have to wait and see.

        Honestly, I don’t know if it is really a great deal anymore.  While it is true that it is only $100.00, the Wii U will have all the functionality of this machine.  If you plan on getting a Wii U but want a Wii now, it makes more sense to me at least to get the one that at least will have some reason to keep it around after the Wii U is out.

          Frankly, I’m not on board with the concept of the Wii U, atm. I just wanted to get the older Wii version for a few Gamecube games I never played like Symphonia, Baten Kaitos, and Skies of Arcadia (pending, if they don’t get announced for remakes within the next few months) as well as importing some recent games like Last Story, Xenoblade and Inazuma Eleven Strikers (pending, if NoA steps up their act).

      I have noticed the easiest way to tell from pictures is the orientation of the logo.  It seems Nintendo does not put a stand with the newer model, or at least doesn’t really push it as the logo is horizontal. Looking at this one, the logo is in the newer horizontal position. So yeah this is likely the newer gimped model.

        You’re right! It’s horizontal and the word Wii is horizontal as well, so it looks like the new model.

          Yeah I think from what I can tell they are trying to push the horizontal position.  Probably for two reasons.  The first is that without those ports on the side, there is less reason to put it on its side.  This of course means they could save money on those stands.  The other is that it seems that is the way they are marketing the Wii U.  All the demos shown were horizontal like that.

    The only thing in here that really interests me is Yakuza 4 but it is only $20 on Amazon.  It isn’t worth $10 to brave Walmart Black Friday again.

    Only a 47 inch tv? I was hoping a 60 or larger, Ive been meaning to move my 40 inch LCD to my nightstand beside my bed and upgrade my living room tv to a 60 inch or so, 40 just feels so small. Guess I wont be running out to walmart this year :(

    Odd, I already had or have those games thats on sale :( 

    Good luck to those that get their hands on the Blue Wii, things like this should definitely help the Wii experience its final year on top of the holiday sales charts I think, unless the Kinect 360 seems more compelling.

      I just upgraded my TV to 3D recently and love it, but it’s from 46″ to 47″.. I was thinking of getting 55″, but my living room is not that big and I thought it’s not worth the couple hundred dollars.. 40″ is a bit small though.. that’s why I thought Sony’s 26″ 3D one is way too small at $600 especially for appreciating 3D, not to mention it uses active glasses that require charging… the cheaper ones in bigger size on Blk Friday might be plasma too..

    holy crap I do not have a Wii so I am going to buy it

    also getting a PS3, my Xbox 360 broke for the third time and I have had it with microshit

    My first video game console was a PS1 and then I got a PS2,( sadly I got an Xbox and then a 360 now I will return to Sony!!!

    BF only is basically saying it shouldn’t even be stocked at all… it’ll only show up within the first 5 minutes of the sale.
    Yakuza 4 is tempting, I don’t have a PS3 but good to stock up on BF discounts…

    No no no no no no NO! I work at Wal-Mart! The mob will eat me alive with sales like that. It gets rougher each year. I was knocked to the floor last year. I can only imagine what will happen this year.

    Triva: Walmart is run by morons who think Black Friday is racist. (Yes I work for them, actully I work for Sam’s Club but still) It refers to black INK. They want us to call it “The day after thanksgiving” which is correct… but it’s utterly stupid
