Metroid II: Return of Samus, originally developed for the Game Boy, is this week’s Virtual Console game on the Nintendo eShop. It will be released on November 24th (Thursday) in the U.S.
Return of Samus introduced a few new features to Metroid that have stuck with the series ever since. Save stations and the Spider Ball ability are two of these.
Another is the design of Samus’ Varia Suit. Since Metroid II was a black and white game, the Varia Suit’s sprite was given rounded shoulders to help distinguish it from the Power Suit.
A price hasn’t been announced for Metroid II: Return of Samus yet, but since it’s out this week, we’ll find out soon enough; Nintendo of America send out their eShop press releases on Thursdays.
