Resident Evil 6 Pops Up On Voice Actor’s Credit Page [Update]

By Spencer . November 28, 2011 . 1:32pm

Resident Evil 6 Pops Up On Voice Actors Credit Page [Update]Given how profitable the Resident Evil series is for Capcom, Resident Evil 6 is a given even though Capcom hasn’t said much about it. Perhaps, it isn’t too far away?

Voice actor Joe Cappelletti’s credit page lists Resident Evil 6 as one of his projects. Cappelletti, who voiced Cocoon Inhabitants in Final Fantasy XIII, also has Steel Battalion (presumably the Kinect-exclusive Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor) and Combat Wings as other Capcom titles. Capcom has not announced Combat Wings title, which is a series owned by City Interactive.

Resident Evil 6 Pops Up On Voice Actors Credit Page [Update]

Update: Looks like Mr. Cappelletti removed Resident Evil 6 from his credits. Did he reveal that too early? Steel Battalion and Combat Wings are still there though.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Wayne-LaBranch/100002132711844 Wayne LaBranch

This was pretty obvious they kinda already said they be making it,  chances of it being good…really doubt that, Most companies that have horror games sorta forgot how to make scary games.  Silent Hill, Resident Evil, and Fatal Frame (well 4 was alright, its pretty much the only one that actually stays true to its stuff).  Capcom should just kill the series and just make a shooter…they know they want to :l

    • Guest

Right, they should kill a franchise that makes them plenty of money. Makes sense.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Wayne-LaBranch/100002132711844 Wayne LaBranch

They pretty much already did with RE5 and Operation Raccoon City :l IF You forgot, those are just shooters (well Operation Raccoon City mostly is) so yeah…unless yeah slap RE and make it a shooter then all that’s fine for ya but yeah….series is already dead yo

        • Guest

You have a weird definition of “killing a franchise” then, because industry-wise that would mean a franchise that stops making money for a company, and has to go. RE still makes money for Capcom, thus, no need to kill it at all.

It’s also kind of funny how having more guns “kills” the “RE mood” because RE3 had a ton of weapons, and i don’t remember anyone complaining about that. I didn’t like that RE5 turned into another duck-and-shoot game, that and the lazy recycling of enemies from RE4. Operation Racoon City is more of a spin-off, so, if we go and judge the franchise based on the spin-offs we end up with everything from games in first person view, to that weird game for the gameboy color, to the light gun wii games and so on.

          • JustThisOne

Haha, I think he really meant that RE died spiritually. It doesn’t retain the initial fear that the earlier games had. Sorta. I’m going to admit. A lot of the first game was a joke, because of the script. However, it was still scary the first time I saw zombie dogs. I totally crapped myself. But I digress.

Adding guns isn’t the problem. You’re right, they’ve always had guns – and a lot of them. They were S.T.A.R.S., so it was justified. But they still made it scary with the atmosphere. Majinis were such a regular occurrence in RE5, that it wasn’t scary anymore. You knew exactly how to deal with them, and there was rarely a shortage of bullets later on in the game.

However, in Resi 0, 1, 2, 3, and Veronica, zombies could come back to life. It really gave the notion that you really can’t deal with all of them. Sure, you have lots of guns, bullets, and the worst aiming system ever to defend yourself with – but it wasn’t enough to keep them from coming back to life. Plus, the areas really feel creepy. RE4 managed to keep it creepy, without resurrecting zombies, by making you feel like you were alone and everyone was trying to kill you. And screw Ashley, she doesn’t count.

Arguably, I would say that RE5 focused more on making the game fun, than making it scary. RE5 gives you a lot of options. It’s an enjoyable ride. But it’s really just a gory game then, and not the survival horror that it used to be. The “fun” aspect of it kinda ruins the atmosphere.

Hopefully, “fun” and “scary” can coexist in the next game. That goes for you too, Silent Hill.

      • Solomon_Kano

I agree but… shooters are a niche market? I think he was saying FPS.

        • Guest

Third person shooters, yes, for a moment i was thinking he meant shooters as in gradius, r-type and so on.

          • Solomon_Kano

Ah. Ok. Yea, a Gradius-style RE would be an absurd suggestion lol.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Utku-Savaş/571425196 Utku Savaş

Fatal Frame franchise is actually very frightening and you haven’t have a single weapon in the game. Only one camera. They have very strong and impacting atmosphere. The first 4 SH was amazing, the others are garbage (literally, not some popular tongue I used there). And RE was good overall as main series except 5. I hope they will bring back the horror atmosphere which was missed for 2 games (partially in 4 and totally in 5).

All true RE fans does my friend…

  • epy

Oh, they will make it, and expect to pay extra for plenty of DLC already on the disc to get the full experience.

    • NTyron52

Oh boy, I guess I’ll not buy ANY games in the future now.

      • epy

DLC being already on the disc is not something everyone does… yet. Capcom though, is infamous for it, which is what I was trying to point out. Thanks for the comment though.

        • NTyron52

Let me ask you a question.

Why do you think the majority of DLC only takes 3 seconds to download? It’s probably because their data is already on the disc, and Capcom is not the only one who does that.

Even then, these things are mostly OPTIONAL, so think twice before leaving a comment like this.

  • badmoogle

I’m very curious about this game especially about what direction it will take this time. Will it go the action-shooter route of the last 2 games or will it be survival-adventure like the old ones?
As much as i enjoyed 4 and 5,i think the series needs to return to its roots.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Utku-Savaş/571425196 Utku Savaş

I hope this time they return pre-RE4 titles as both atmosphere and gamestyle. I don’t care this generation’s players want to speed and action in game. Thanks for Halo and Call of Duty series, they ruined every single franchise out there since the other companies want to keep in step with the industry, especially the Japanese companies and their big franchies. Look at the FFs, they ripped off the strategy out the game and put the “action”. Look at the Silent Hill. They ripped of the horror and vulnerability and put some serious action s***. One by one every franchise that has it own style, faded away to the “more action! more players!” background. This makes me very sad about the future of the gaming. I fear that in the future, companies only making games for casual players.

Anyway, I hope they hear the fans and bring the true atmosphere back to the RE series. At least they don’t decide to reboot the series like DMC and still, Japanese folks are making the RE franchise unlike the late SH games. I abandoned all my hopes for SH though. But I still have some for RE franchise. Especially for Revelations and 6. Operation Racoon City you say? Not a single f*** was given that game.

    • RupanIII

“Look at the FFs, they ripped off the strategy out the game and put the

Don’t forget Metal Gear Solid. Don’t get me wrong, I liked 4, but nowhere like the earlier games. So much more action/guns than the original’s ‘tactical espionage.’

Anyway, I agree, I hope they go back to their roots. I miss those cinematic camera angles.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Utku-Savaş/571425196 Utku Savaş

Actually, I think MGS4 was the most similar game to the MGS1. Not with gameplay, but with atmosphere. I’m happy with the MGS franchise but I’m just a little afraid of MGS:Rising will be such a mess since Kojima doesn’t involve the game much. I hope they fill the gap between 2 and 4 well.

      • Solomon_Kano

        Random cut-in:

I sorta agree on MGS, but to me it felt like there was more of a choice in 4. There was always the option to shoot the place up, even in MGS1, but it was never a viable option. I preferred to be stealthy anyway, but you really didn’t have another choice — they gave it to you, then gave you every reason not to pick it. In MGS4 that choice actually was there in that you could shoot everything up or you could be stealthy. I dunno if that made sense lol, but that’s how it felt to me.

    • http://www.facebook.com/ironshounen Nauj Ibarra

Look at Need for Speed. It used to be all about the cars and the road. Now what did EA release just recently? A game centered on action. Trying hard to look like a movie. They failed big time right there.

They were on the right track with Hot Pursuit then BAM.

I want to see Resident Evil 3 on RE5 engine though. And Outbreak. Especially Outbreak. That was the best in the series in my opinion.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Utku-Savaş/571425196 Utku Savaş

I pretty much don’t care about the games by EA. They are the most greedy and fickle company in this industry. And Activision follows EA right behind.

It’s just too sad, they infected the action-based, focusing on more selling type game idea to the Japanese companies.

    • thebanditking

Your first sentence pretty much sums up my feelings about the RE series. Even the 3DS one doesn’t quite fit the bill for me, pointy skin sacks with flesh tube socks hanging out of their mouth are just not scary. Zombies are scary and for a while Capcom were the masters of this (always felt Romero’s were a bit too silly) but after two games of shooting what the Japanese would consider “foreigners” I am tired of that formula (on second thought I never liked it, I just played them because they were still good games). Now this is scary:
      http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=s6C57HtXo9I#t=15s

and its a Pachislot game, lol.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Utku-Savaş/571425196 Utku Savaş

WOW, the game looks so much better than RE5.

    • Hraesvelgr

Right, because the horrible decisions of Japanese companies can solely be blamed on Halo, Call of Duty and other western franchises.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Utku-Savaş/571425196 Utku Savaş

I explained why I thought this way up there. If you don’t read, I can’t do anything for you…

      • badmoogle

He never said “solely”.More like “part of the problem” which i think it’s true.

    • http://twitter.com/Xuiz enorka miho

But I like action though for FF only… The reason I play FF is always for the story.. Though FFXIII does not have a good plot…Anyway, just like Mass Effect or tales games they are still consider as epic games eventhough they are action RPG… And I definitely do not want to see full CG Lightning standing there waiting for my command.. It is super awkward…

Btw, the paradigm in FFXIII to be honest involve allot of strategy as well.. You have to constantly be alert of which paradigm you should be in facing different enemies.. So I am ok with that..As for other games.. Yeah… They totally kill almost everything… They strip off of all the ambiance, the environment and the experience of the players by giving them too much action.. MGS4 is a wee bit short.. But, the best example would be RE series.. I mean, I am a relatively new gamers who had never play any PS2 games before, but i really like RE4 allot!! And even for a somewhat lower end of graphic quality RE4 is still very scary and exciting…

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Utku-Savaş/571425196 Utku Savaş

But you can’t compare the strategic depth of FFVII’s Materia system or FFVIII’s Junction system or the turn based battle system of all pre-FFXII games. Turn base gives a feel like you playing a fantast chess that you must make your moves carefully and simple mistake will s*** you up. But in FFXIII, you just mash out the buttons like crazy for win and you change your Paradigms once a while (except some hard boss battles). I agree with you, Paradigm Shift system gives some level of strategy to the game, but not enough for core FF fans. Even FFXII was greater than FFXIII, since it has a big open world MMORPG feeling. I hope FFXIII-2 gather together the reputation of the franchise.

        • http://twitter.com/Xuiz enorka miho

well, maybe SE could just tweak abit of the paradigm system.. I mean.. There are so many things they can add in though… The possibilities are there… It makes everything a little more fast paced but strategic based as well..

Materia is I think non existant now since they are currently under different gods and universe… Dissidia is exception but no materia was involved.. Nonetheless i think they can have another new system for that…

Well, I think such changes can only be seen in FFXV then.. If FFXIII-2 was well received that is.. Else if FFVersus became the new legend.. Then there goes KH mechanics X FF… Least all of the hardcore fans beg for paradigm system..

          • http://www.facebook.com/people/Utku-Savaş/571425196 Utku Savaş

Well not necessarily be the materia system and Crisis Core actually handled it very well (action and strategy at the same time). Something is missing from FF for a long time. I don’t know if this is the plot, or plot twists or original characters or the strategic depth or everything above.

Now Versus XIII is a gum that stretching to the limit. It’s been nearly 6 years for God’s sake. I’m afraid that they will cancel the project. If Versus XIII accidentally released some time after 6 years, it can be a legend but after all these high expectations, it might blow up so badly.

          • http://twitter.com/Xuiz enorka miho

Well, that is if you like action though…If turn base element were to be retain then paradigm is so far the best mechanism..

And CC is the most epic FF since FFX… This tittle pretty much prove to me that plot is actually the soul of FF franchise for its the first action game in history of FF..

lol..Anyway, i have my faith on FFVersus… But only time will tell.. XD

    • http://twitter.com/ifarah12 Gren

I agree with your comments on Silent Hill and Resident Evil but Final Fantasy games for the most part have been easy for a long time (except for super bosses like Penance and the occasional exception).

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Utku-Savaş/571425196 Utku Savaş

A typical FF was follow this formula: If you don’t choose your path wisely, you’d be ended up not beating a boss in anywhere in the game. For example, Sorceress Adel from FFVIII, or Gizamaluke from FFIX or Seymour Flux from FFX. You must level up and choose your weaponry/armor very wise. But in FFXIII, you just beat the hell out monsters and pass through to the end. The only challenging boss was the final boss and it wasn’t nearly as challenging as Ultimecia.

Now super bosses are different story, they are unique and if there is any optional boss that could call “super boss” in FFXIII, they just swapped color scheme of the ordinary monsters and call fancy names and throw us as “optional boss”es. There were so many varieties of enemies back then and now, in FFXIII they’re like 10 different monsters in the game and the others are just varieties of the 10 monsters…

        • SeventhEvening

I’ll give you Gizamaluke, that guy was a bastard. But other than that, I agree with a lot of the other commenters. In addition to Final Fantasies being rather easy games, they had simplistic systems that were easy to exploit and/or break. Hell, in VIII you could max your stats before Rinoa was even introduced if you knew how to play your cards right. Literally. All you needed to do was play the card mini-game and then convert high level card to junction. You just press “Auto-junction” and you’re invincible. If you want to talk about a difficult franchise getting watered down and easy on a mechanical level, look at Shin Megami Tensei.

    • Guest

I agree about horror games being less about atmosphere these days, but wishing that RE went back to the pre-RE4 days is a mistake. Trying to do a pale imitation, like RE5 was is not a good idea either, but a franchise should always go foward. The improvements RE4 made in terms of gameplay can’t be denied by anyone. It’s one of the most important games of the past decade for a reason.

Also, FFVII’s materia system is anything but strategic. It’s quite simplistic, and the game itself is not very challenging. It was the first console rpg many played, thus why they remember the game as having some kind “difficulty” the problem with the FF franchise these days is, among other things: the simplistic gameplay. The obsessive cutscene-heavy nature. Scripted gameplay, and i won’t even go to the terrible terrible TERRIBLE stories (hello FF13) because there will be no end to my post. Is every single bad habit of this console generation put into one game.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Utku-Savaş/571425196 Utku Savaş

I disagree with you. Yes, materia system was easy to handle yet strategic. Strategic doesn’t mean it must be complex. Way deeper than Crystarium system. And FFVIII’s Junction is incomparable. It is complex and strategic at the same time.

About pre-RE4 system, the producers give it a try with Lost in Nightmares and Desperate Escape stories. The old camera angle was back and I think it was great with the combining of next-gen graphics. I don’t say they must slow down the game like the first three RE (and Code Veronica). But I say, they shouldn’t morph it into an action game like RE5. It was a survival horror title but now, it is a mere shadow of its former self.

      • SeventhEvening

Well, mechanically, yes, RE4 was a bit of a leap forward in that it was a smooth system, but it was a step back in other areas. The atmosphere more or less collapses about 30 minutes into RE4 because you’ve got a small stockpile of items and weapons and enemies are more or less constantly running at you. It feels more like you’re playing some kind of hoard mode rather than an actual horror game.

Aside from the panic I felt in the first few minutes of the game when i was being attacked from all sides and wasn’t used to the controls, I felt disappointingly safe the rest of the game. I never got that sense of dread I got when playing the old titles. There was just flash in the pan scares rather than a slow, torturous burn. And RE5 was even worse. I’ve been more satisfied with Dead Space, although I could live with it slowing down a bit too.

        • Guest

You never got that sense of dread of the old games because RE4 was playable, not a third person game with FPS controls with fixed camera angles. No matter how many years one plays the old RE games nobody can ever get used to their controls because they are poorly implemented.

Also, i never found the old RE games scary, that’s what Silent Hill was for.

          • SeventhEvening

I blame having a small arsenal. If you’re not afraid of running out of bullets and you’re armed to the teeth, nothing much scares you. If you managed to beat the first resident evil in under 3 hours you got a rocket launcher with unlimited ammo, which also eliminated the horror. But at least it forced me to play through the whole game first.

Unfortunately, Silent Hill’s had the same problem on the atmosphere front. The new teams have no freaking idea what they’re doing, IMHO.

          • Guest

Ah yes, the new developers of everything SH these days missed the point of what made the first 3 games so good. As soon as i ran into the first monster in Homecoming and made a big loud “BLARGK!” noise i knew it was downhill from there.

First of all, you made me laugh out loud in class. Congratulations, you monster.

Second of all, it’s about aliens invading the earth during FIFA World Cup. You play as Ronaldinho with his awesome legwork, and try to shoot soccer balls at the weak points of space ships. Y’know. Like the Death Star. There’s also a melee portion which features Zidane and his headbutting powers.

  • amagidyne

I hope this game is a little more consistent than RE5 (and that we won’t have to have the racism debate again). Wouldn’t say no to being able to move and shoot at the same time either.

I also don’t get the calls for the series to return to its survival-horror roots. Whenever Capcom shoots for horror, they hit comedy. That’s fine in an action game like the last two were, but if they try to go for pure survival-horror it’ll end up being a comedy game with frustrating controls.

Could just be bias on my part, though, since I can’t even remember if I played the earlier installments.

    • SeventhEvening

Despite how shlocky and cheesy the dialog was in the first 3 resident evils, they were terrifying. The cutscene with the zombie turning around slowly, the slow pacing, the limited ammo and healing items, surprise visits from Birkins in 2 and Nemesis in 3… The plot and dialog were complete crap, but they were atmospheric, tedious, and truly terrifying games. Especially the first one. My heart raced the entire time I played that game. Granted, looking back on them now….

And I hope we don’t have a racism debate again either. But as long as there are uptight people who want to get pissed off before they play the game, there will be controversy. Anyone who played RE5 would see that it wasn’t racist, just as anyone who played Mass Effect would have seen that the alien sex was tamer than most R rated movies.

      • Guest

Anyone who says RE5 was a racist game has no idea what the word “racist” means.

Let’s see how RE: Revelation play out the horror element… then we will see if RE6 is going for horror or action.

  • JustThisOne

I think it’s about time Barry Burton makes a comeback.

And maybe Claire too, because she was cool and stuff. But no annoying tag-along like Steve, please. :’)

  • NTyron52

While I’d like to see RE6, I still think that I should think twice before having an opinion on it.

I’ll be honest, RE4 and RE5 are great games, with some tight controls, and really good action, but those games weren’t scary like RE1 and older RE titles. Now, of course, if they go on that road, they would have to change the gameplay in general, and RE1 to RE3′s controls were quite frustrating to deal with, so I don’t know what I would like to see honestly… but RE5 was too much to me, and I hope they won’t make a RE like that one, as far as I liked it.
