Is Resident Evil 6 Set In China?

By Spencer . December 1, 2011 . 12:21am

While the Resident Evil series began in America, Capcom brought zombie invasions to other continents. Leon traveled to Europe for Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5 was set in Africa. Will Resident Evil 6 take place in China? The Silent Chief found a voice actor resume that may hint at the game’s setting. Voice actress Wendy Mok who played an islander in Dead Island lists Chinese villager/zombie as a role for Resident Evil 6.

Is Resident Evil 6 Set In China?

Ms. Mok removed her credit page, but still lists Resident Evil 6 as a project she is involved in on LinkedIn. The news comes a day after Siliconera discovered Resident Evil 6 on another voice actor’s resume.

Is Resident Evil 6 Set In China?

Even though Capcom has not announced Resident Evil 6, another entry in the profitable series is hardly surprising. It looks like the next installment isn’t far away either since Capcom is already recording dialogue for the game.

Kung fu zombies. Gonna be the scariest RE yet!

    • http://www.facebook.com/benjtan Benjamin Tan

more likely gangster zombie/parasite things since chinese triads love to gang up on victims with machetes anyway

    • puchinri

Why they gotta be kung fu zombies? You sayin everyone in China knows kung fu!? >:’O

      But seriously, I do wonder who they’ll make zombies and how they’ll handle that. For some reason, I just pictured them turning monks into zombies, which feels really scary to me. ouo;

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Dylan-Ng/100000854638739 Dylan Ng

Let see whether this will cause a racist reaction….
On thw other hand, using China as a setting might work out. (e.g. china goverment conspiracy, secret research lab, lots of zombie…)

    • http://www.facebook.com/benjtan Benjamin Tan

chinese are more tolerant than most people fortunately

      • Eric Chan

Oh, is that so? What makes you say that?

        • http://www.facebook.com/people/Utku-Savaş/571425196 Utku Savaş

Because people in East are more tolerant then most of the world.

Did you see any Hong Kongian people raged out because the Dark Knight and yells like “they pictured us as bad guys!” ?

          • JustThisOne

Weeell.. I’m not so sure about that. When it comes to film, I know a couple of people who dislike Jackie Chan because they see his wacky antics within his films as degrading. They think that it makes Chinese people look bad.

There’s always going to be people that are uncomfortable with things. Then there will be people who are. But I honestly don’t believe Chinese people are more tolerant, in general, than anyone else from the west. You probably just don’t see it.

          • http://www.facebook.com/people/Utku-Savaş/571425196 Utku Savaş

Well every society has some taboos and uncomfortable zones. For example, if you talk a topic about Nazis or Hitler today in Germany, many of German people will annoy of your talk, because they’re not comfortable to talk about that topic (Neo-Nazis are exceptions of course).

There too many examples like that. If you accuse all China for eating fetuses, they are uncomfortable from it of course. For my situation, I’m a Turkish guy and almost every one from the west thinks we are barbarians and we like to do genocides (like in non-existent Armanian genocide for example). There are history books and they write down the events that actually happened. Of course people can find some fake documents, letters etc. about this but I believe what history says.

For the movies, did you remember Midnight Express? There was a propaganda about how Turks are really evil. You can understand that once you know that the script was written by two Armenians. I’m not being racist here but this is a clearly propaganda against Turkey. And System of a Down band… They say “Everyone can get into to our concert except dogs and Turks.” This is something that you can piss the whole society, or country.

But in the games, for example in RE5, there were some raged out people from Africa. I don’t think the script of RE5 was offensive for Africans. It’s just about a virus spread on the Africa and some innocent African villagers caught by it and turned into Majinis. There is no outrage for African people. This is just the story about a virus and bioterrorism activity which takes place in Africa. The game does not suggest that African people was bioterrorists, they just merely victims of it.

But, if you say in a game that “Africans are this and Africans are that and this is the typical African behavior” etc. and show that the Africans you talking about are actually the villains of the game, then Africans should offended. Otherwise, there is no need for rage out.

There was two game takes partially place in Turkey. The first was Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and second was Assassin’s Creed: Revelations. In Uncharted 2, they picturized Turkish people like Arabic people. Since there is no stereotpe about Turkish people (except some racist that imagine us like Conan the Barbarian) this can be acceptable. In the Assassin’s Creed Revelations, I am very happy about how they really depicted us in Ottoman Era. There is some details that bugs me, for example, Janissaries are depicted as like Templars, they are trying to stop Ezio and very cruel, but they have to keep the calm in the streets so, I have nothing much to say about it.

All I’m saying is if you want to make a game about a nation, or take place in a foreign country, you must be really careful, for who offends very quickly (i.e. RE5 case). But in some works like Midnight Express, sometimes the producers/script writes or the folk who works on it make it on purpose, for the sake of their propaganda, then you may piss of someone out there.

This is all I’m saying and I’m really uncomfortable about declaring that I’m a Turk because there is so much hate for us especially in the Western people. When I say I’m Turkish in the internet, they shut me off and get away from me almost in the instant. This is very offensive and I hope you guys won’t do it. Thank you.

          • Aoshi00

I thought it was funny one HK actor’s cameo in Dark Knight was reduced to about half a second.. he was the security guard at the building taking their cell phones..  that was the time when his sex tape w/ several actresses was “leaked” :)..  that bad Chinese businessman dude was in Contagion too..

I dunno, I think all these political correctness are too much..like people complained about lack of blk people in games when that is a good char like Sazh they complain about the design.

There were racist reactions in 5, there will be here.

I agree on there being lots of zombies…..LOTS AND LOTS OF ZOMBIES!

This will either be really, really good – or really, really bad. After the stir RE5 caused, I’m going to go with the latter on this one. Perhaps people are just looking into things too much?

Jiang shi are like the best zombies of all race. And yes, there is bias, this coming from a Chinese person. Hopefully they’ll make use of the setting to bring back horror into the series.

    • Aoshi00

If they’re all cute like Hsien-ko :)  I used to love Jiangshi films when I was a kid, so scary how they resurrect from their caskets and how the daoshi stops them w/ the talisman.. many funny situations too.

  • JustThisOne

LOL YES! I’m totally excited to see what comes from this. I’m fully prepared for Chinglish voice acting. Does this mean we’ll get a Chinese side character too?

…Wait, does Ada have any part in this, then?

Excuse me? Capcom not announced RE6? Then what is this?

    http://playstationlifestyle.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/re6-685×513.jpg

This picture was taken in San Diego Comic-Con.

Anyway, if RE6 will take place in China, then we have problem of overnumbered zombies in motion.

    • Aoshi00

I think this would most likely take place on HK judging by the actress s background and HK should offer alot of cramped and claustrophobic spaces for zombie action

    • Phlo

That’s a fake photo, IIRC…certainly, nothing special in relation to RE6 happened on September 15.

  • Göran Isacson

So is this going to be the continuation of the story in RE5, or will we actually have that promised series reboot? THAT’S what I’m curious about, more so than the actual setting.

As for the possibilities of racism, WELL… Japan and China don’t have the best of histories together, so unless they treat the situation with silk gloves it may well end up troublesome. And considering this is CAPCOM who gave Sheva a tribal bikini as an alt costume… but on the OTHER hand, they probably care more about not upsetting their powerful neighbour, than they worry about upsetting black people.

    • Aoshi00

I guess the game could take place in Hong Kong… it would be like Shenmue + zombies or something.. and HK is a more neutral setting.. I think all this racist talk in RE5 was just stupid..

The movie Contagion had HK, China, and other areas being infected by a virus too, well, it was more like the whole world.. white zombies, black zombies, Asian zombies.. should all live in harmony :)

    • Nemesis_Dawn

I certainly hope it isn’t a reboot of the series. RE5 left the story wide open with possibilities at the end, even if it wasn’t the greatest game, itself.

There’s already too many reboots these days.

    • Hexen

The only best horror setting for a RE reboot will be a narrow passages and such again like the Mansions in RE series. If its China, first thing come to my mind are busy streets or some Laboratory unless they mentioned some Chinese billionaire who offer its mansion as a operation HQ lol.

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1051780171 Tan Wei Lun

Jiangshi hunting in Buddhist temples would be sweet.

    • puchinri

I could only nod my head to your entire post. Resounding, “this.”

I do wonder though. Are they going to care about upsetting China at all? Are they going to fail to realize how insensitive they’re being once again anyway and piss them off anyway, even if they make an effort not to?

Apparently, I missed or forgot something about a reboot, but that would be very interesting. But heck, if they’re hopping on the reboot train even more, it makes sense. (As long as they don’t try to outsource this one too.)

    • Guest

There isn’t a single Japanese character in the main cast of the franchise. Also, the more Capcom wants to be politically correct about this the more stupid they will make the game look. RE5 ended up with african towns full of asians, caucasians and what not running around everywhere, that and a forced co-op mode with a black female character. It’s quite ironic that at the end of the day both Africa and China are places where their own goverments and their own people are the ones that screw each other the most. But that’s always “strangely” absent in all these debates about so-called racism and lack of cultural sensitivity.

      • puchinri

There is nothing wrong with being politically correct or sensitive. My goodness. x’D

However, they could try to over-compensate or play the token rule and that would be dumb. (The same kind of stuff that Hollyweird does and minorities – race or sex-based – don’t enjoy either.)

It’s not as though Black people are the only people that exist in Africa anyway. Matter-of-fact, I know plenty of white people that would be offended and miffed that you consider them such a minority in Africa. (They jumped on me about it once before.)

That’s rather odd thing to say. Nothing exists in a vaccuum. I think if we tried to progress better in the handlings and talks of these kinds of things, it wouldn’t happen in the first place.

With 5, if Capcom had acknowledged comments properly early on and got some legit help, there wouldn’t be any problems to this day with the game. At least here, they have the chance to do that. if they don’t, well, that’s their deal. And if people get mad when they don’t, the people have a right to. x’)

        • Göran Isacson

Just logging on to say that you are awesome, and thank you for taking this argument when I myself am far too tired to do so. Thumbs up and likes for you.

          • puchinri

Thank you very much. I really appreciate your above comment as well.

        • Guest

“Political correctness” can be used to push political agendas, to advance the interests of some people. That’s certainly not a good thing at all, if you think that can’t be the case you are being a bit too naive on this subject.

The thing is, there were never any real problems with 5 regarding the whole “white people can’t shoot black people in a game!” Once more, this was just drama brought by a couple of “gaming journalists” and other people with nothing better to do with their free time, and nothing more. Capcom ended up adding people of all races to the african scenario, in a way that didn’t make any sense, and was just silly.

          • puchinri

Yeah, but that kind of “political correctness” is not for the benefit of actual minorities. Huge difference.

But as I noticed above, you see the world in a very close-minded, narrow, pessismistic way and you’re content with inequality. You keep enjoying media and entertainment the way you do.

I just hope you’re not offended by things being at all equal or “politically correct”. ^u^

      • Nemesis_Dawn

I was very bothered by the whites, Asians, and Arabs that would just randomly show up in the middle of African villages in RE5. It reeked of political correctness. We need a world where people are more honest, not less.

    • Exkaiser

      Wesker, of course!

  • badmoogle

  • http://www.facebook.com/shawn.dickenson1 Shawn SomethingOtaku Dickenson

    zombies… thats getting old

  • http://twitter.com/salarta salarta

Whoa, we’re killing Chinese zombies in China? That’s racist! Just like Africa, everyone knows the majority population of China is white people. I demand that Capcom change all the Chinese zombies into white people and alter their latest Jill model into a young female Chinese partner to Leon on steroids. A Chinese woman killing nothing but white people in China is the only way we can say RE6 isn’t racist!

All joking aside, I’m looking forward to it. Personally, I want Jill to be the main protagonist since the ending to RE5 from the Jill fight on after was made of fail and suck. But more realistically, I expect this game to star Leon either on steroids or as a bishie, a new Chinese female character as his partner, and either Ada Wong (more likely) or Claire Redfield (less likely) as a supporting villain that you have to fight during the game.

Ada Wong is more likely given that it’s set in China, making her race and ethnicity all the more relevant, plus we know she’s worked with Wesker in the past, already has fighting prowess, and it adds heightened drama for the male protagonist that he would have to fight his past love interest. However, Claire Redfield is a candidate too because she was Leon’s opposite female protagonist in RE2. Capcom established a predictable pattern in RE:Degeneration and RE5: both products make the male protagonist of a past game into the overall star, introduce a hot younger woman to be his new partner, and only use their old female protagonists as damsels in distress that need to be rescued.

I would say that it would be more natural for RE6 to have Ada Wong as the primary villain given location (as OMG RACIST as that might sound) and the past pattern of RE1 characters on odd numbered games and RE2 characters on even numbered games, but Capcom has previously said they believe female protagonists as the focus hurts sales. That attitude logically extends to women as primary antagonists being seen as a bad thing; supporting antagonists like Excella and Jill to Wesker are okay.

Oh, and RE6 starring Leon is all the more likely when you consider that Capcom made a big deal about Operation Raccoon City having a mission to kill Leon, but no mention of Jill or Claire, two people for whom it would make a heck of a lot more sense story-wise for the team to try to assassinate given their ties to the Spencer Mansion incident.

    • puchinri

      I think you totally and completely missed the point of why people were disappointed with how they handled Africa and why it was racist. 0u0;
Unless you do understand why and were making satire on the situation in general. (It didn’t feel that way though. x’D;)

Some of your post, I can’t make sense of, but I just want Leon to be the protag so I can his pretty face and cute ass. That’s all that matters with the protag really. ^u^

      • http://twitter.com/salarta salarta

What I gathered of the “RE5 is racist because you shoot black people” complaints when they were being made was that the media for the game showed a white man shooting hordes of majini that were solely black people, no other races included. I’ll admit that it does seem very unlikely there wouldn’t be one or two people of other races among them, but the game is set in Africa. You’re shooting zombies that happen to be black because the game takes place in Africa, not shooting humans because they’re black and ignoring white people.

Most of the uproar that I saw was from African Americans projecting the U.S. history of racism against blacks on a product made by a development team that comes from a country lacking that history. If RE5 was made by a development team in the United States, I could understand the outrage, but not in this case.

Edit: I forgot to say, if anything at all in the game counted as racist, I’d say it’s the tribal villages where you see Majini in straw huts wielding spears and wearing tribal masks among other things.

        • puchinri

          That wasn’t the issue at all, really. ^u^;

If that’s all you got from it, you were probably only hearing what the people offended by racist claims were narrowing it down to.

It goes a little beyond basic US History too. But then again, if a company from another country decides to make a game based in another country and use lots of imagery that could be potentially dangerous, isn’t it their job to do research? And Capcom is an intl. company, wouldn’t anyone from the US (or even EU branch) think to say anything?

The fact that they had N’Gai Croal point out the problem so early on and did terrible damage control speaks more to their not caring anyway, to me. On top of that, they did claim to do research but couldn’t cite or source a thing, so they even lied about that.

And yeah, that was a bad move and pretty racist too. x’D
After reading about everything, I facepalmed at most stuff, but then I got to that part and had to resist literally headdesking.

Really, it’s very easy to make a lot of stuff racist, but it’s also very easy to not do so. And there’s never an excuse to me for it being racist. If they’re going to step into that territory, it won’t hurt them to do a little research and be a bit sensitive in how they handle that stuff.

          I just hope they’re smart enough to handle it sensitively with China. Then again, if they fail to here, it’d kind of cement that they don’t care about being racist. =u=;;;

          • puchinri

            Wasn’t it all about a Chinese thing? ouo;

          • Guest

So, how’s RE5 a racist game? You’re being very vague with your comment. Because there was slavery at some point in human history where white europeans were using africans as slaves? If that’s the argument then we might as well have every single game, book and movie with characters turned into androgynous asexual grey creatures that just barely look a little like human beings. Because somebody at some point will get offended about women not being represented fairly, about some culture not being represented fairly, or somebody with different sexual preferences and the list could go on and on and on. Because the human race has been screwing each other in all ways and for all reasons since day one, and trust me, that won’t stop happening just because a video game decided to be “sensitive” about it.

To this day i have yet to see someone give a convincing and rational argument as to why RE5 is a “racist” game.

          • puchinri

Lol, if it was as simple as that, a lot of stuff would be problematic. x’D

I’ll just leave you links, and if you don’t see/get it, there’s nothing more I can say probably that would help you understand.

Here are a few links that might help.

And this probably needs to be thrown here too, since it’s popping up anyway.

          • Guest

Please tell me you’re not being serious about the links you just put, blackface goes HD? Seriously? For real? Do you even know what blackface is suppose to be? Let me guess, you also think Metroid Other M is sexist because it was a woman taking orders from a man. I also like how many of these articles were written by people who didn’t even bother playing the game at all, and some just have no idea of what they’re talking about. So it’s ok to shoot spanish people because they haven’t been “misrepresented” so much as black people? Talk about hipocrisy.

How about posting your own opinion on your own words, because those articles are all over the place. The funny thing is that there never was any real controversy beyond some so-called “gaming journalists” pretending they were offended. The game came out and there were no protests from civil rights groups of any kind. It was a storm of silly political correctness in a glass of water. These “game journalists” are also the same hacks that love to use double standards on everything, like how Duke Nukem Forever was sexist but games where you can actually kill women, like GTA, are perfectly fine.

Here’s the thing, the civil rights movements of the 60s wanted one thing for black people: equal treatment, not special treatment. Nobody in RE5 is in blackface, heck, the concept of zombies have it’s origins in the practice of vodoo in Haiti, a place populated by…..yes, black people. Even the word zombie came from haitian creole.

          • puchinri

            You just looked at the title and skimmed it over or something huh? x’D;

Rather yet, you seem like one those people that’s content with any sexism or racism in the world. I don’t know if you just don’t see or acknowledge it, or don’t care, but either way, that’s fine.

I personally love gaming, and because I do, I want to acknowledge these problems and discuss them and hope that things eventually change with the efforts people make (opening up discussion, holding panels, etc).

If that’s all how you feel and see things, I’ll leave you to it. There probably isn’t much that can be said or done for you to be more open or sensitive to the matter.

          • Guest

I read some of those articles back when the “controversy” was fresh, they boil down to:

“White people killing black people in a video game is wrong because is wrong and because it will remind some people about slavery, and because is wrong.”

Hollow and empty arguments in other words, and once more, is ok to show other cultures getting slaughtered in a game, as long as certain groups are left alone? Once more: hipocrisy, if you like to support such arguments feel free to do so, but it just shows that you are being a hipocrite too. You don’t care about “race issues” at all, just about feeling some fake sense of being “PC”, just like the people that wrote all that nonesense.

          • Nemesis_Dawn

Really? Are we back to this nonsense again? I really wish we could just stop accusing everything of being racist. Birth of a Nation is racist. RE5 is not.

          • puchinri

Lol, who’s accusing everything of being racist? If something has racist traits and elements, then it’s racist. I wish people would just acknowledge that, enjoy the game/whatever for what it is, and try to keep a more open-mind.

Apparently, asking gamers to be conscientious and worldly, aware people is too much. But alas, since the stereotype of gamers is angry, immature and close-minded man-children, it all makes sense, right? /eyeroll

    • RupanIII

I don’t know much about this game, but if it’s anything like the previous 5+spin-offs, I suspect that it will be highly offensive to the zombie community.

      • puchinri

If I were a zombie, I’d be pretty miffed with game developers right now. It’s like they’re trying to convince gamers to go on a zombie genocide. And zombies are supposedly loved, pfft.

  • aoihana

I’m telling ya, you get a little sleep, and you miss out on stuff like this! (^▽^)

I hope it really does take place in China! We’ve had Spain in Resident Evil 4, and Africa in Resident Evil 5, so China is the next logical choice! (*^ワ^*) China is such a beautiful and unique place, so it would definitely make for a memorable setting. Of course, it’d have to done right! (◕‿◕✿)

It’d be awesome if the protagonist had a native Chinese partner for…umm…you know, touring purposes! ♡^▽^♡ How else are you going to get around! (◕‿◕✿)

The only thing I hate about Capcom though, I noticed this in RE4, by the way, is that they don’t have diverse villagers, and they all say the same thing! They have like 5 phrases, but it’s really annoying when they spam the same one over and over! ヽ(●-`Д´-)ノ

    Mierda!

    Mierda!

    Mierda!

    (*≧m≦*)

And I don’t even remember them saying very much in RE5, I heard more grunts than words, to be honest. ┐(‘~`;)┌

Although I’d love it if the next Resident Evil took place in China, whether or not that happens, it’ll be an awesome, fun game. I can’t wait! (◕‿◕✿)

Of course, Leon will be announced as the protag since Chris just had his turn (and we can’t have women handle things alone, because they’re incompetent).

The scene it’ll start out with? Leon, walking through a city, all of the Chinese people stick to the shadows and watch him carefully. It’s unclear of if they’re already tainted/zombiefied/whatever, but it is clear that they’re all a threat and all evil. Their bulldogs are mostly run down, because there are only slums and cheap restaurants in China.

And when he eventually leaves the city once the adventure kicks in? He gets to more rural areas where the Chinese are all poor and farmers and attack with kung fu, because all Chinese people know kung fu.

Oh, and almost forgot. Capcom will show the intro, and some people will get mad and call racism (and why no female protag!?). To alleviate that, they’ll give you a female sidekick. She’s Chinese, but she’s also educated, so she speaks with a British accent. And she barely looks like any of the unzombified Chinese people (or what they’d look like, unzombified). Can’t forget her alt outfit either! Which will be a skimpy chengosam. Because Chinese people always wear chengosams, right?

Yup. Gonna be a great game.

    In all seriousness though, I hope they get really creative with this. For some reason, I want one part of the game to take place on the set of a drama for some reason. But I do want to see any especially cool and/or historical places getting the zombie action and getting messed up. ;u;

Then again… Maybe they won’t even use any actual cities and most of the game will be set in rural places or something or another. Hmmm….

    • Exkaiser

In all seriousness, I think urban China would be a great setting for a Resident Evil.

      • Luna Kazemaru

A zombie game in china sounds cool what is that like 10x the amount of zombies. lulz

      • badmoogle

Urban/rural Japan would’ve also been great IMO.

        • Solomon_Kano

Yakuza of the End scratched that itch for me tbh.

      • puchinri

I’m so mixed, I’d love it and yet wouldn’t be able to take it seriously because  there’d be all these fashionable people.

        …I wonder if there’ll be tourists…?

Oh, the beautiful poetry of playing a game about China on consoles made in China~ :3

    • Guest

It would be fantastic to step into a factory in the game where infected chinese zombies are making ps3s and 360s.

      • RupanIII

I’d like it if you could storm Foxconn (Zomconn?) and free slaves who are being forced by zombie rulers to assemble iPads

      • http://myfigurecollection.net/collection/DrakosAmatras DrakosAmatras

I WANT THAT SCENE. Hell, if that scene ever makes its way into the game, I’d buy the game just for that.

    If so…then we’ll be fighting  Jiang-Shi : O (A Little Hsien-ko reference is fine too~)

    • Exkaiser

Mandatory Female Partner gets a Hsien-ko outfit?

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_Q6NXXGMO5XNSMJ64NIHYHFP56A Vince

        Or Chun-Li.

        • Exkaiser

Oh, we should already take that one for granted. The more important thing to ask is…

          Classic, or Alpha Chun-Li?

  • amagidyne

Hm, this could get controversial. Maybe they should change the setting to North Korea.

  • eliel

i hope there’s New Protagonists every character from 1-5 can take 5 for now let some new BLOOD/Heroes shine(would b cool and random to c someone from Rezi Evil outbreak would love a 3rd one….)

    • badmoogle

I would also like to see some new protagonists but there’s always the risk (for Capcom) of not developing them as successfully as their old main (and trusted) RE cast.

I think that whatever new characters they introduce will have secondary roles, hoping that if they will be liked enough by the fans then they may consider them to star in future RE games.

I personally feel RE6 should be a retcon of the end of RE5, that shows the real end of Wesker and Jill and Chris taking him down for good.

The way RE5 ended bugged me. Aside from being an entirely anticlimactic ending, it horribly cheated Jill out of a very very much deserved chance to help take down Wesker. Jill was directly involved in the events of RE1, and to top it off, RE5 had Wesker essentially rape her as a person. Not only were the antibodies inside her used to make Uroboros possible, but Wesker forced her to actively aid his efforts by killing her own comrades in arms and nearly kill Chris, all while perfectly aware of it but trapped in her own body. Wesker turned her into his murdering pet willing to do anything to please a master she despised. Worst of all, he took her, a woman  worst of all following orders to support nefarious activities she fought directly for at least a decade. He took a woman committed to the fight against biohazards as a cause great enough to risk her life, turned her into the mother of the worst biohazard ever created, and forced her to do anything it took to spread that biohazard across the world, all while completely aware of it.

Wesker more or less took Jill’s identity and made a big joke out of it.

If all that isn’t more than enough to justify her having a role in the final fight against Wesker at least on par with Chris, I don’t know what it would take.

Then the game adds a bit of insult to injury by deliberately making Jill stay behind while Chris and Sheva went after Wesker, get in a helicopter, then as soon as she arrives… give up the rocket launcher to Sheva instead of use it herself, as if to say Sheva’s better than her and deserves it more.

And I’m not screaming that Jill needed to replace Sheva either, not in any way. It really wouldn’t have been that hard to include her in the final fight. During the fight itself, Jill could have taken part, whether as a possible third player or just as an AI that can’t die (except maybe in certain circumstances) but is limited in what she can do. And the final scene with the rocket launchers? All they needed was a third one for Jill to use.

The decisions the scriptwriter made toward the end of RE5 deliberately prevented Jill from taking her rightful place during the final confrontation with Wesker, despite having far more reason than even Chris (thanks to RE5′s script) to deal the killing blow.

For that reason, I think RE6 should be the real end to Wesker, with Jill and Chris back to take him down for good.

I don’t expect that to happen, though, since Capcom’s already established a pattern. Despite all the text above, I am NOT so upset by RE5′s ending that I’m going to refrain from Capcom products or RE6 or anything like that. Resident Evil always had a bit of B-movie feel to it, and how poorly they handled Jill’s character after the fight with her is what you can expect from a B-movie story. But if I had a choice, I’d much rather see Jill allowed to redeem herself in the next big numbered entry. Revelations isn’t good enough, since it’s a side game on a portable device, not a main entry in the series.

      • Yu_TheKing

Super deep insight, totally agree ^_^

I hope Jill makes a return in this one (not just as DLC either)

But I think they’ll add new characters (prolly protagonist wise) to play as.

  • Monkey_T

Guess which game is gonna be banned in China?

    • http://twitter.com/salarta salarta

       Pole Position?

  • http://twitter.com/xDyuusu Deuce

Resident Evil 4 is in Europe…. Resident Evil 5 is in Africa… Resident Evil 6 possibly in China… What’s next? Resident Evil 6 in Russia!? XD

    • Guest

Russia IS the place for a game with a post-apocalyptic atmosphere, and that is because Russia is a post-apocalyptic country itself.

  • MrRobbyM

    Te voy a ser 春卷!!

  • Yu_TheKing

This’d probably have literary millions of zombies owo

What part of China and what new characters/plot is the question?

  • Solomon_Kano

I would love for this to be true. If nothing else, I’ve liked the international flavor of the more recent RE games.

    • Mark Zeus Lee

      Impossibru RE: Asian Difficulty

    Ada Wong or GTFO

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_Q6NXXGMO5XNSMJ64NIHYHFP56A Vince

Capcom seems to be currently getting the controversial ire of some countries with certain contents in their games. Spain was dead worried with Magneto’s UMVC3 DLC get up. Hopefully this one won’t bug China with the setting.

  • Chow

They could mean that it was a zombie that just so happens to be Chinese, in any sort of multicultural setting.  You know how they like to cast miscellaneous East-Asian actors for East-Asian voices for no reason other than their ethnicity (rather than actual voice acting ability).

(I mean, seriously, why do casting directors always do this? lol)

  • Guest

I just wish the writting goes back to the level of quality of RE4, all RE5 had was Chris punching a boulder. Where are the midgets in napolean costumes? Cages of torment? Small time bad guys? That was truly the most dissapointing aspect of RE5.

There’s still alot of chinese that hate japan for the history btw them and now this game lmao! if it’s in china… there’s gonna be alot of who knows what.
