Looks Like Sega Is Revving Up To Release Sonic The Hedgehog 4: Episode 2Even though Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 was released a year ago, Sega hasn’t said much about Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2. We know it ties into Sonic CD, which was re-released as a digital download, but that’s about it.

 

We should be hearing more soon since Korea’s Game Rating Board just rated Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2. Usually, ratings appear within a few months of a game’s release.

Anarchy Reigns, another Sega title from Bayonetta developer Platinum Games, also popped up today. The online brawler is slated for release in January.

    Yeah this was expected to be next. Wouldn’t be surprised if they were working on it while still working or near the releases of Sonic Generations. I’m surprised by how soon this may release.

    I didn’t think that was out yet, aside from being preinstalled on Gamestop’s Android tablets.

    Big question for me is how this will play. Like Ep.1 or a different style.

      I think the time travel gimmick from CD will translate to this episode.

      Hopefully they’ve learned from their mistakes and it’ll play like Classic Sonic from Generations instead of the wonky physics from Ep. 1.

        I’d rather it played like the ‘classic’ original Mega Drive Sonic games rather than the abysmal classic sections in Generations.
        Generations was a (slight) step in the right direction, but still far removed from the ‘proper’ Sonic feel.
        I think people overrated it by a massive amount purely because it wasn’t completely awful. It was way below average and should not have been released in the state that it was.
        You cannot release a platformer that runs at 30 frames a second. You need 60 frames for the fluidity.
        The fact that hardly anyone even mentioned this in the reviews speaks volumes about their journalistic professionalism.

          Yes, we’d all like for it to be like the original, but I think we all know it’s not going to happen. If they were going to make recent 2D sonic games exactly like the classics, they would’ve done so with Generations, if not Sonic 4.1. As such, it’s a foolish notion to think all of a sudden they’ll revert Sonic 4.2 back to “original mode,” if you will. So what do we do? Hope it’s the lesser of two evils, i.e. similar to Generations.

          Get it for PC if you want 60 FPS.  Also the fact that you are complaining about how the physics aren’t identical to the original games is a tad ridiculous.  They were good, if not great, in Generations and are the best you are going to get.

          Talk about impossible to please…

    I was kind of hoping they dropped the Sonic 4 concept all together… I hope this one is at least better than the last one.

    So wait, Anarchy Reigns wasn’t delayed??  I keep seeing a different release date from online retailers.  It’s confusing man.

    That implies the re-release of Sonic CD is already out. Is it? I haven’t seen it in the PSN store. Or is this referring to a different platform Sonic CD is re-releasing on?

      No, it’s not out yet, but it is supposed to release this month. He probably just misspoke… typed. Unless he was referring to the version that came on those tablets at Gamestop.

    Good. Hopefully, it’ll be more in line with Generations’ classic segments. I didn’t dislike Sonic 4, but Generations’ 2D gameplay was improved over it.

    When people like a classic game. they don’t want new versions of the old game, redesigned. They want that same old game, updated graphics and just new levels. At least that’s how it seems. I liked generations and 4. but then again, I’m not impossible to please.
