YESSS GROWLANSER!! I’m buying this game before I pay my bills!

Is Gungnir have something with 4 or IV??

    If not then…

    GROWLANSER IV YEAHHH!!!

    • Bryce Ward

Gungnir is the fourth entry in it’s series as well.

  • Crimson_Cloud

Growlanser IV: Over Reloaded, it must be it or they are trolling really hard. I have to say that the 4th game is the only one that I did not try and I hear people saying that it’s best in it’s series. Combine that with new characters and endings and you have yourself a hit for a month. :)

Never have I seen an announcement tease that’s so much fun to read.  I hope it is G to the R because I win no matter what.  If it really is Growlanser there’s a copy of Generations for 20$ I should buy to catch up with…

    • Bryce Ward

Gungnir is the fourth entry in it’s series as well.

While I really like the fact that Growlanser 4 will come to u.s. this is not a clue this is a total give away. You ruined it atlus and I still love you.

    • Bryce Ward

Not so fast.  Gungnir is still in there.

True.Is it the fourth game in deptt heaven series?

  • http://twitter.com/NintenPilgrim Ninten

Well, it’s obviously not Giten Megami Tensei IV Overclocked.

    :B

  • Jirin

Horray, we’re finally getting Grand Naruto Tacticker IV!

    Err…

Yeah, I’ll definitely pick this up.  I played II and III.  I love the combat and the scenario systems.  I tolerate the insane victory/defeat conditions and the constant pausing.  Go Atlus!

It’s Gungnir. I remember Atlus complaining about poor sales on Growlanser. Doubt they’d mess with it again, especially on the PSP.

STING’s RPGs seem to be good with those. I don’t care for STING RPGs though so I had hoped it was Growlanser. Additionally, “4th release”, Growlanser IV is hardly the 4th release and this is a “2nd release” of the same game! Gungnir however is a literal 4th release, to my knowledge.

However, I think this is pretty cruel of Atlus. No matter how this ends you’re going to have an angered fanbase who is likely not to buy the other title simply out of spite.

I can understand wanting to build hype like this, but keep in mind that when you hype something up, you also produce a much more powerful backlash when the hype generated was misplaced. In this case, I feel the Growlanser backlash may be a bit more severe considering they’ve been begging for something like this for some time.

Growlanser 4 OR may not be the “fourth release” of Growlanser if you consider ports as separate releases, but the same could be said of Gungnir.

Dept. Heaven had three versions of Riviera, (two of them localized), two of Yggdra (both localized) and two of Knights in the Nightmare (both localized).
So, if you consider Growlanser 4 OR the eight Growlanser game (the six numbered entries plus the upgraded ports of 1 and 4 on PSP), then Gungnir is the eight release in the Dept. Heaven.
If you only consider localized entries, then Growlanser 4 OR could indeed be the fourth Growlanser (after 2, 3 and 5), while Gungnir would still be the seventh Dept. Heaven.

Also, as noted before, Gungnir is technically Dept. Heaven IX in the series’ own order, even if that isn’t important at all.

That said, I completely agree with you regarding this viral marketing tactic: if they announce both games everyone will love them, but if they announce only one of those two games half of the niche fanbase will be pretty pissed at them.

It would kinda funny if the game turns out to be neither Growlanser or Gungnir.

To be honest, this feels like Atlus is trolling everybody. Quite hard. Either way, it’s one more localized game and that’s a win for all whether it’s Growslancer or Gungnir (though like many others, I am inclined to think it might be the former). But yeah, nice trolling~.

  • http://www.facebook.com/FireCloud42 Tanner Wiegert

    Growlancer!!!

  • Ladius

Wow, more than two days have passed and still no new clue… do they really intend to prolong this thing to the end of the next week (at least if they plan to fill up all the spaces)?

    • http://twitter.com/InfinityAge11 InfinityAge11

Yeah, I don’t get it. Are they taking a break for the weekend and it will continue on monday or did something go haywire and they had to put all this to a halt? Either way I’m really worried that maybe something could have happened as to why its suddenly stopped like this.
