Original Game Boy Tetris Hits Nintendo eShop In North America And Europe

Tetris is often credited as one of the reasons for the popularity of the original Game Boy. Pursuing the rights to publish the game was a roundabout process for all involved, but once it was managed, the decision paid off in spades.

Today, Tetris is being released on the Nintendo eShop in both North America and Europe. The game costs $3.99 in North America.

While I never got that far myself, depending on your stage and score, you got to see different ending scenes in the game. One of these is the Russian Buran spacecraft taking off:

Why a Russian spacecraft? Because Tetris was originally developed by a Russian computer engineer named Alexey Pajitnov.

No price for Europe yet? I never got that far in Tetris myself!

Anyway, nostalgia! The very first game I played, alongside Super Mario Land. Time flies by so fast!

$4 for an OLD version of Tetris? Is Nintendo high or what? I swear, Nintendo is the worst pricer of digital content I’ve ever seen.

You say “OLD” like it really means anything to Tetris.

…it’s tetris. At least they aren’t charging about $30 for premium tetris like EA is doing on itunes

Most nostalgic version of Tetris IMO if people share my view of the game it is like buying back your childhood. :)

    • Tom_Phoenix

Tetris is timeless. It never gets old.

Also, frankly speaking, I would much prefer to pay $4 for this version than to pay for a subscription fee for the one that EA is releasing on iOS devices.

And this is the game that revolutionized the Game Boy’s release.  But $4 is pretty high, though.  Oh well, gotta make money somehow.

Isn’t worth 4$ you can have lot of better tetris game for under 5$ who are much better then this.
This game don’t worth much more then 0.99$ nowaday i mean black and white tetris with only 1 mode (maybe 2 been too long since i last played) isn’t worth 4$…

I’ve got the shuttle launch ending. I don’t know, I don’t think I would mind paying $4 for this game to be on my 3DS. Though, a lower price would be much better.
