VVVVVV And Bionic Commando Swing To Nintendo eShop

This week, the Nintendo eShop gets two off-the-wall platformers – Bionic Commando for the Game Boy on Virtual Console, and VVVVVV as a 3DS title.

Bionic Commando on Game Boy replaces the original game’s setting to a futuristic one. Other than that, you’re still playing as Rad Spencer, your mission is still to save Super Joe, and you still can’t jump. It costs $4.

VVVVVV is a platformer, designed by Terry Cavanagh, that you navigate not by controlling your own character, but by controlling the direction of gravity in the game. Inverting gravity lets you flip between the floor and the ceiling.

The 3DS version also has Player Levels included in it — additional levels designed by other game developers not employed at Distractionware (developer) or Nicalis (the publisher). VVVVVV costs $8.

vvvvvvv coming to the eshop was already known and its cool that it has the player levels, bionic commando on the other hand even if it is awesome, isn’t 5 bucks too much??? i don’t know of the costs nintendo has to partake to give us this games but i would always think that the gb games should be two bucks… feel free to give me an explanation for the prices i would love the knowledge (or at least a good excuse XD)

in other comments at what hours does the siliconera community play mario kart 7? i enter at about 8 PM (in Venezuela)  and i find no one

and maybe you could give good reasons why they should be a price you want and not the price they are using facts and not your own opinion.

bear in mind im not attacking you just curious since people always moan about prices with out any real argument of why they should be lower

Well personally speaking, if you consider that many of the retooled 3D classics are only $6 and have been recoded from scratch, it does make $5 for an old GB game emulated seem a tad high.

My real issue though is with VVVVVV’s price as it is hard to justify when it costs so little on PC.  I suppose it is just the premium you pay to play it on the go?

i have to agree with that my self though i have more issues with the dsi ware prices than the game boy games which admittedly should only be around 2$ max

Well by comparison Nintendo’s digital offerings are all vastly overpriced.  The games tend to be high and never go on sale.  It is something they need to kinda step back and take a look at themselves over.  Take Sonic 4 for example.  It is still $15 on WiiWare but is now $10 on PSN and XBL and has sold at times as low as $5 during certain sales.  Given that it is strapped with an inferior version of the its soundtrack and it makes the higher price even more insane.  I can’t even remember the last time I paid for a download on a Nintendo system.

honestly the lack of sales and constant pricing seems to be the bigger problem since if the price is to high a sale or price adjustment would solve the problem.
though honestly while some games are over priced i feel most of the e shop specific stuff have been fairly priced but the wii ware and dsi ware are still horrible and need adjusting.

I’ll try to set up a scheduled Mario Kart race for the community this weekend, or soon after! Other people have been asking about that, too. We’ll make a post on the site if/when we do it. :)

I wish I had waited for this instead of just biting on Mighty Switch Force…
That said I’ll buy it next week.

Sigh, and we still have to wait a while here in Europe. They said PEGI means the game will come out in January.

VVVVVV is one of the best games I’ve ever played. I highly recommend it. If you’re a quantity over quality type, you may not be happy, but the two hours or so it takes to play through will be thoroughly fulfilling.

But seriously, for those who didn’t get the humble bundle or just wanted it on the go, well, congratulations.
