Gust Teases Their Next Game With Security Cam Video

Gust is slowly rolling out a reveal. It started with art in Dengeki PlayStation. Now we have a teaser trailer that looks like it was shot with a security cam. Is that a bedroom or a karaoke booth?

 

Gust also opened a site, GenomiLive which has a cryptic font reminiscent of the Hymmnos language from Ar Tonelico.

    oooooh~ Just can’t wait to know what this is all about~
    Seems like Gust is using a new style for this game…seems Portal-ish…Portals JRPG! Kidding.
    In that video, I can make out a bed, and beside it is what seems like a girl sitting on the floor as if crying…probably the same mystery girl as in the previous tease pics huh? lol what if she’s a Reyvateil prototype…? nah maybe not.

    Dude, it’s a prison. The image had mugshots of that girl (pretty sure it’s her), and now she’s in the corner of a room with a bed and mirror. Though she could also be in a cell for test subjects.

    Considering Gust isn’t known for psychological thrillers or disturbing heroes/heroines, I doubt this will be as dark as the promotional material makes it seem. Still, color me interested. Whatever this is, I hope it gets an international release.

      It seems you missed Mir’s entire subplot, because what you described about a prison pretty much is exactly what happened in her past, except with some torture involved alongside the testing.

      I doubt it’s Mir, given the hair color, but this type of thing was common in the past in the Ar tonelico world. Even Misha was literally put into a prison and was expected to sing herself to death.

    could it be Ar Tonelico Origins?
    though the site uses some weird symbols they don’t look even nearly similar to Hymnos

      It’s definitely not Hymnos or the new writing introduced in AT3, either – see Ec Tisia for what I’m talking about.  It’s closer to the latter.

      I know this is a stretch, but I would love to see what they’ve been going with recent Atelier games done with Ar tonelico.  Namely, sub series within a main series.  IE, trilogies with the same basic mythos, but the specifics changes based on the world.  That way they can keep the series fresh.

        another idea for what it could be about is the Rhaplanca story from the songs
        could make a nice spinnoff to the AT series
        and the symbols could also just be the normal written language the people on Ar Ciel use(farfetched)

    I Typicly enjoy whatever Gust makes. so i’m excited to know what it is lol

    i can’t see it happening, (given that the clues don’t really point toward it) but it would be nice to have a Mana Khemia 3 (Mana khemia 2 is probably one of my favorite of their games…that and atlier iris 2)

    I’m highly doubting that this is a new Ar Tonelico title, unless it’s a prequel or interquel. Considering the third game tied up all loose ends and concluded everything gloriously, a sequel would have to unravel everything that went right in order to have any antagonism.

    I hope it’s something brand new, and that seems to be the case. Not to say it won’t have anything in-common with Ar Tonelico (I’d love if they continued the satire of fanservice in games), and since it’s Gust you know there will be item crafting. In the end though, we’ll just have to wait and see.

    I’m embarrassed to say this but i haven’t played any games that came from GUST..
    are their games any good?  i tried mana khemia on the PSP but Gawdamn it soo unplayable… 
    i was hoping for their 2nd release but it was an exclusive japanese only game lol..sigh

      Gust games are pretty good. Why did you find Mana Khemia unplayable? If it was due to load times, you could try the PSN version or the PS2 version, instead. I enjoyed it, myself, and I tend to have more luck with RPGs on portables… loading times aside.

      I know Ar Tonelico games and Atelier games can be pretty good, though… though forewarning, Ar Tonelico can be pretty racy.

      all the gust games have an extensive background story particular the Ar Tonelico series so if you love reading lore ingame in addition to an interesting story try those

    Looks like a reyvateil to me. SO EXCITED! Though, I hope they make it a better game than the last one… I have the Japanese version of Ar Tonelico 3, but because of the frickin Governate, I kinda gave up. I’m motivated to continue now.
