Cave Still Hope To Release Their Shooters On PC In The Future

A few months ago, a follower on Twitter asked Cave whether they had any plans to release their games on the PC. At the time, their response was: “We are considering new platforms at the moment, but PC is not one of them. Sorry.”

Then, late last year, we had an opportunity to interview Cave development manager, Makoto Asada, and asked about potential PC releases of Cave games ourselves.

Asada told us: “It’s something we thought about before. We have development lines at Cave and I have to put emphasis on development for console so we put this on pause. The PC market is strong and there is a lot of support so this is something I want to keep in consideration.”

He added, however: “Perhaps, before we develop for PC we will move to the PS3 or another console other than the Xbox 360.”

Today, another Twitter follower tweeted to Cave: “The world needs PC versions of your games. I would love to see stuff like DoDonPachi and Ketsui on Steam.”

Cave’s reply: “Thank you for you update. Imagining Cave shooters on a PC monitor…. Hope we can make this happen in the future!”

I would love to see Cave shooters on the PS3; I like hearing that they’re considering it.  Right now they’re the only thing tempting me to get a 360, and that’s just not enough for me to justify a new console purchase.

Asada said today that Mushihimesama HD will probably be the last game on current generation consoles. Seeing some Cave titles on PC would be nice tho.. I’d die for an ibara/kuro and dangun feveron PC port.

Wait, so he says he might move to the PS3, and then says that their next game is gonna be their last on current-gen consoles?

        • SH3

Well he said perhaps, my guess is that they skip the PS3 and go directly for the Wii U.

Cave has a habit of changing it tune every few months, they seem open to doing just about anything if they think its worth it

It’d be nice.  As I’ve said in countless other articles about Cave and their console choices, the only reason I’m not giving them my money is because they’ve chosen a console that I don’t have…or they haven’t decided to bring it stateside.

I can’t believe that the PC would be a very closed market across country borders.  Steam or some other sort of distribution that is at least decently accessible would be great to get these things on.

Otherwise, we’re back to the only way we can play what we enjoy.  Them getting our money or not.  Playing it or watching.

I’m sure people have been bugging them for a while now to do something on PS3, they do know we want games on ps3 right? :(

I’d love to see Cave shmups on PC/Steam; although I think the hard part with shmups competitively on PC, is there’s potential it may run differently between systems. Although seriously I’d really like to see PS3 releases, since it’d at the very least solve the whole regional locking issue that plagues everything o~o’ But yeah, bringing shmups to Steam/PS3 I think would really benefit the shmup community and market as a whole owo’

My thoughts exactly, as Jamestown was just retarded, it had poor optimisation and ppl were running fraps which greatly slowed the game down.

Hopefully they could build a system that wont allow those with slowdown to enter their scores on the leaderboard. If they dont I hope they give players the option of a console version

  • thaKingRocka

PS3 would be cool since it’s pretty much region-free, but PC would be best so that I wouldn’t have to worry about the hardware being left behind.

Hm… Cave games on PC released on steam via capcom would be awesome!

But… Capcom even put DRM on Satanazius, so I dunno

I agree with the people below.  SHMUPS on Steam.

  • TrevHead

Unlike the PS3 where most shmup fans have gone out and bought a 360, there is a number of shmup fans on PC who are quite happy without a 360.

That said CAVE would have to release a game with solid gameplay and no bugs or crappy non FS TATE option as gamers will just play emulated versions.

I hope they learnt their lesson with Guwange

“Thank you for you update. Imagining Cave shooters on a PC monitor”

I already do, as my 360 is connected to my monitor which I TATE

Staring at the PC as a potential platform for putting their games on in the future? NO! We have Touhou and tons more shmups on the PC. Stare at the PS3! STARE AT IT! XC
