Try Out A Demo Of Type Moons Mahou Tsukai no Yoru In English

Following numerous delays, last month, Type-Moon finally announced a concrete release date for their next major visual novel, Mahou Tsukai no Yoru. Then, they released a batch of new screenshots to illustrate what the game looks like in its present state.

Now, you’ll be able to take an even closer look at Mahou Tsukai no Yoru. Type-Moon have released a downloadable trial version of the game through its official website. You can grab the trial by visiting the site here. Click on “Special,” and then on one of the four download options.

Or, better yet, you could play an English fan-translated version of the demo. Fan blog, Empty Boundaries, posted a text translation, and another enterprising fan incorporated it into the demo itself. You can grab the translated demo here (do a Ctrl+F search for “part-1″).

Mahou Tsukai no Yoru is planned for release on April 12th for the PC in Japan.

Everyone else got their hopes up for a moment, right? It wasn’t just me?

    • Natat

What do you mean? I got the demo some days ago already, so…

      • http://www.youtube.com/user/EnvyMizuhashi Garyuu

He’s talking about how we took the article title at hindsight.

        • Natat

Aah, I see what you mean. But nah, there’s no way Type-Moon would do that. Since I already had my hands on the English patched demo it didn’t have any impact. And even if Type-Moon suddendly became interested in the English Market… I wouldn’t believe it, kind of like Capcom releasing a complete game without DLC.

    • xAKUM3TSUx

I sure did. I thought Type Moon was actually looking at giving a North America or outside of Japan release of their stuff. Oh well…..

    • caleb1993

Definitely. I originally thought it meant we would have an official release of one of Type-Moon’s VNs in North America.

    • Setsu Oh

UNTIL I SEE THEIR FULL LIBRARY ON PSN XBLA I WON T GIVE A DAMN

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/EnvyMizuhashi Garyuu

Really, Ishaan? I was convinced that Type-Moon is finally interested in us english speakers until I read the whole thing! (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

    Better than nothing, still.

I guess many are happy to see some of these have North American releases.

  • SolidusSnake

Nothing like downloading an English-language VN demo from a Cyrillic website. Gotta love the internet.

Animations are super cool, portraits look like CGs and the music is excellent.

You have a couple of hours to spare? Download and play it. You don’t lose much.

Besides Sojuro’s gardening skill is epic, and there are flying pigs and Mystic Eyes of Heart Attack.

Alright this is making me feel stupid, I never have problems with these sites. Everytime I try to download it it forces me to install an addon and then the addon doesnt even work? What do.

    • http://www.siliconera.com Ishaan

Uncheck that one box you see on the download page.

      • http://twitter.com/InfinityAge11 InfinityAge11

Ah, thanks that worked. Guess I would have been fine if I would have been able to read it lol

  • Darkrise

Hopefully someone will do a full fan translation in the future. =)

    • Arietta8

The translator has shown interest in doing a full translation. The problem is whether someone will be as willing to insert the text for the entire script. I myself do not know the amount of effort that went into putting the translated text into the demo.

  • Go2hell66

would be awesome if they somehow turrned this one into a fighter as well :D

    • Barthomeloi

But they already have :D. Aozaki Aoko is in Melty Blood and Touko might make her way in there someday. And judging from the weird character choices like Seifuku Akiha, Young Aoko might be a new addition for the next edition.

  • darkbartz

Off to download it! It looks so good, please don’t be delayed again…

  • http://twitter.com/Ale598 Ale598

Just completed it and it was one of the most pleasant VN experiences of my life. If they do the Tsukihime remake with this engine I’ll die of an awesomegasm.

  • PrinceHeir

woo lots of visual novel news :D

will try the demo for sure :P

  • http://twitter.com/RawrofJustice Rawrrawr45

    MAHOYO, HERE I COME.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_IB6XWGVQOD2XCH4ER7NYKK2A2M Shuyai

Tsukihime and fate stay night is the best vn ever, hope type-moon’s awesomeness continues

    still waiting for FHA

  • Barthomeloi

This was great. Just enough to whet my appetite and then leave me in suspense…especially the whole “Red Riding Hood” comment near the end.

Looking forward to receiving my copy in April and then staring at it for 1-2 years until it’s translated ;_;.

Hopefully we get an english version of Mahoyo… official or fan sub.

Is it true tht this doesn’t have voices!? If its true…. its a bit akward. At least this has nice visual.

    • Arietta8

Though voices would be nice, the visuals and music certainly made it easy for me to overlook the lack of them. Tsukihime is not voiced, and the original release of F/SN wasn’t either (they were added for the PS2 port). It is possible that Mahoyo will receive a port at a later date, and voice would be a very likely addition.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Dylan-Ng/100000854638739 Dylan Ng

Let’s cross our finger for an anime adaptation and then wait for the english dub while waiting for the game to fan subbed.

    • epy

They’re waiting for the console port I’m sure, which will be fully voiced and might have another route or something. I just hope it’s not 360 exclusive.

  • neetyneety

If the Tsukihime remake has art like this, voices AND a Sacchin route, I might have a Marble Phantasm inside my pants.

I’m always confused about downloading a file in parts… do I need all of them or just part 1? And do I need to download the original demo as well?

Never makes things easier, and the sites are in Russian. I’m a little surprised, wasn’t expecting that.

    • Arietta8

You need all three parts. When all are finished, extract from the first archive and it should automatically extract the remaining parts into the same folder.

The download is not a patch, but the demo with the English script inserted. You do not need the original Japanese demo.

      • http://www.facebook.com/VirusChris Christopher Nunes

OK, so put all three parts into one folder and extract part 1 only and I’ll have the demo with English translation?

Thanks for the heads up! ^_^b

  • Neah

    SWEET

I’m downloading the demo now. I soo can’t wait to try it out.
