Nine Minutes Of Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations

By Ishaan . February 6, 2012 . 5:30pm

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations has 70 characters, goes over several arcs from the Naruto chronology, and entirely new content as well. That’s a lot of ground to cover, so Namco Bandai put out a 9-minute trailer to get the point across:

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations is slated for release on March 15th in North America and March 30th in Europe. The game’s story mode has separate arcs for several characters, including Kakashi, Sasuke and Itachi. There’s over 65 minutes of animation in story mode by Studio Pierrot.

Very epic trailer, I must say! That intro was pretty awesome! A clash of generations, indeed! (*^ワ^*)

As I’ve said before, and this trailer really presents this so well, I love the ougi’s in Generations. They are much more cinematic, and I absolutely love that! O(≧∇≦)O

Wow! The Second Hokage’s Ougi is probably the most epic one I’ve seen yet! I think it beats his ougi from Narutimate Hero 3, and that was awesome. (ノ>▽<。)ノ

I didn’t use to like Killer Bee, I thought he was more annoying than funny, but he’s grown on me, honestly. I still think he’s silly, but that’s what makes Bee, Bee! (*^ワ^*)

I know I said I would get this later, but I’m beginning to lean towards launch, honestly! (◕‿◕✿)

    (But probably not)

“Nine Minutes of Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations”

    WRONG!

    *”Nine Minutes of EPIC”

    There fixed ;3

  • Herok

Now i need to find someway to buy this game, if your a fan Naruto and you this trailer still didn’t convince you that you want this game then there is no hope for you.

    Ow, my eyes…
I should really stop trying to observe so much awesomeness at once.

  • antperze17

omg that trailer was soooo sexxy!!!

  • Cjs0511

*sigh* I wish there was a way to play as the tailed beasts (Besides 8 tails)
Oh how I would love to play as Kurama :’(

    • 27CansOfTuna

Hopefully as the Sage of Six Paths as well as Kurama in Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 in 2013.

Although I’ve been out of Naruto a long-long time, every time there is a new trailer from CyberConnect 2 I check it out for nothing more then the fact there games are so masterfully animated. There is nothing else out there like`em, and they’re absolutely stunning to watch in motion owo” CC2 you have my respect >w<'

  • KyoyaHibari

Danzo may convince me, still, if they are willing to, I’d buy Shizune, Anko, Tayuya & Kurenai as playable DLC characters, they are the best, please let me have them CC2!

  • KyoyaHibari

As for “depth” to the characters, I’LL BE THE JUDGE OF THAT…

    • 27CansOfTuna

This game has the most depth of any game this generation. It will be amazing!

      • Asura

         ”of any game this generation”

        Lolwut?

      • KyoyaHibari

Again Tsuna, I highly doubt that, I’m awestruck why you still can’t seem to grasp that some fan service game will never exceed the quality of a truly well established fighting game franchise, let alone any other high quality game/franchise; it’s disgraceful almost. The characters and movesets seem just as broken as before, maybe even more so, the inclusion of the “substitute meter” is just compensation for everyone dodging every single move 20 times over with how broken Storm 2 was, and the cancel system is an ancient mechanic, there is hardly a scratch of innovation in this game. I can imagine it may be entertaining, but it is by no means revolutionary, I treat this game like most other anime based games, just a means to play as my favourite characters and test out what little “skill” I need to compete online when people are just going to be spamming their asses off, throwing away most of the 70+ characters CC2 decided to put in the game, and just use the most broken & easy to use character they can find. This game (if I do choose to get it) will be fun solely for the purpose of playing as some cool looking familiar characters, unless CC2 chooses to BALANCE, PATCH, and UPDATE these characters rather than recycling half of them and leaving them as they are, maybe they won’t be digging their own graves & then maybe I can give this series a little more credit. Otherwise it is simply just playing as you favourite Naruto character while beating the crap out of another.
Don’t get me started on the story, if CC2 manages to expand what little depth this series’ story has, I’ll be impressed. Kishimoto is a flat out bad writer IMO, the series seems to get worse with each arc and I’m flabbergasted at how so many people are still with the series. Honestly, if the character’s name isn’t Naruto or Sasuke they don’t even matter; again, I doubt I can sway your passion & loyalty for the first anime you have ever seen, and this is all my opinion I suppose, but eventually you’ll realize the folly of this series. Nothing against you personally Tsuna, but that comment struck another bad note with me, just don’t get too irrationally excited about the game, claiming it ” has the most depth of any game this generation” is also digging your own grave.
EDIT: I suppose I came off as a little cruel, I don’t mind that you like the series, but just be a bit more nonchalant about it k?

        • KyoyaHibari

*Firmly grasps Dark Purple Flame Shield +5*

        • Asura

If you used better paragraph breaks this post would be pure perfection…

          • KyoyaHibari

Lol Ik, I was trying to indent and such but my comp kept messing it up.

        • 27CansOfTuna

The story? CC2 is expanding upon the story of several characters telling it from their perspective, giving them the time they need. The anime also fills in on characters who didnt have tons of screentime in the manga, I do not see how that is a flaw.

In my experience this deviates from the normal fighting game experience by providing a rather deep and immersive story. Whereas other established games have some quick story for each character that is basically six or so quick matches that can be finished in less than thirty minutes and a underutilized combo list that is essentially the same for multiple clones of the same character relying more on swift button presses than strategy and depth to the action, this series excels in doing the oppositie, streamlining combos for maximum flare, skill, and power while delivering the love of our fan favorite characters with great potential for numerous and deep strategies deviating from just fastest finger type dynamics. And that is not to mention the graphic factor, best looking one to date.

          • KyoyaHibari

Giving a character screen time or “different perspectives” doesn’t make them deep. Let’s give an example shall we; we’ve seen some of the Konoha 12 assist Naruto on some missions and such so they’ve been given screen time, but Kishimoto never talks about their backstories or shows any growth for them throughout the series, you can summarize the description of a character in one puny sentence, i.g. Kiba, the rambunctious dog boy, Shino, the timid bugmaster, Tenten, the energetic weaponmaster, etc. That’s pretty much it, granted, some of the Konoha 12 have a bit of back story & development, but it’s completely out of proportion.

Neji has an inferiority complex by being raised in the side branch of the Hyuga clan ultimately being deemed weaker to the main branch members like Hinata and so we see how he strives to get some acknowledgement from his peers and family to see how he has grown (partially thanks to Naruto’s indomitable spirit during their fight back in the Chunin exams, showing signs of character development, even though that was way back when). Now I’ll admit, Neji has a rather well done backstory, but taken as part of the whole, with Kishi making this war of hundreds of people and throwing in some of the more important characters with a bunch of generic ones, it seems as though he is just tossing away the characters he once seemed to partially care about, even Neji is just a lookalike amongst his fellow Hyugas because Kishi’s plotting and artwork isn’t helping him stand out/be more significant in the plot than the rest.

Kishi should’ve just killed off most of the Leaf back in the Pain Invasion arc honestly, IMO, if he doesn’t intend to expand any of these characters that might’ve once played a minor role in Naruto’s life, why are they still there? They might as well be purely minor characters. Not to mention that killing them all off would be a much better plot twist than Naruto whining and making Nagato sacrifice himself to magically revive all of them, only to have Kabutomaru gain the ability to magically revive anyone for no cost a few arcs later -______-.

Kishi created this vast world of characters, he should do something with them rather than them just being catalysts for Naruto to meet up with Sasuke again. Character depth is only one of the many problems with Naruto’s story, with the sluggish pacing, some cliched arcs, childish plot twists & priority of action over depth I’m surprised I can still partially follow it without getting nauseous. I’m recommending that you read Hunter X Hunter (or watch the 2000 series), Nurarihyon no Mago, Rurouni Kenshin & watch Gintama, THOSE are quality Shonen Jump series my friend.

          • Asura

“relying more on swift button presses than strategy and depth to the action, this series excels in doing the oppositie”

            Are you being satirical?

This series has no depth or actual strategy, and largely revolves around how fast your reaction at pressing R or L is to kawarimi.

  • 27CansOfTuna

I wish they would release a dubbed trailer already. Though I never get tired of seeing footage of it. Anyway

Water Style: Explosive Bite of the Water Dragon looks epic. Kid Kakashi seems to play much better than Kakashi, which is great, and Minato is great. Everything is epic, and Taka, precious Sasuke and Suigetsu.

As I pointed out before, they are really on the offensive against Sasuke in this trailer. Poor Sasuke.

  • Asura

If only we could have NGNT4 with these graphics… oh man…

I’ll definitely pass on this. The series is definitely drawing to a close. The next game is likely to be the last. It’ll have the other jinchuuriki, un-masked man, and I dunno, maybe some of the deceased Kages or something.
Anyway, the final version of this game series is the one I will end up using my money on.

    • http://twitter.com/ZEROthe1st ZEROthefirst

Oh man GNT4 is the best, I still pop that game in pretty often and play a few matches with some buddies. It’d be nice if they’d make a remake for it with updated visuals, same characters, and add an online feature, I’d never get off that there.

      • Asura

         Seriously!

        ConRev3 was playable.
GNTSP was ultimately a step in the wrong direction.

GNT4 was pretty much as close to perfect as you can get to a very simple fighting game that still created an immense skill difference between players.

I’m so sad they didn’t stick to that system and just balance the characters with the future games. The controls felt so tight, and the combos were actually fun and fairly creative (for how simple it was at least).

Man, I miss NGNT4 so much right now! I moved to Hawaii a semester ago and now I have no friends to play it with.

Wow, look at me go on a GNT4 rant. Anyway, yeah, point being, an updated version of that game with the same combat system but CC2 graphics and online play would be orgasmic.

  • takopako

    quite epic…

  • SilentSchemer

I dislike that they could have added new characters from where the anime/manga is now rather than wasting characters slots for the younger characters (young naruto and co.), or at least they could have made the rest of the Sound 5 playable characters (Tayuya T_T).

I will get this game months from now when its cheaper. The last game is the one I have sets my eyes on.

    • Asura

No Sound 4 is inexcusable really.

And why NO GAME used the sound team from the chuunin exam is beyond me.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Kuhile-Brodeur/100000150368876 Kuhile Brodeur

I certainly hope the support characters are interchangeable. I don’t want to have to constantly play as Tsunade just to see Shizune.

I’ll buy this game, but I’m kinda bummed that they took out some good characters. Tayuya was the only character I ever got a 99 hit-combo in a fighting game before.

  • Bio_liquid

What this trailer has shown me:

    CC2 really HATES Sasuke.

  • karasuKumo

Still think it would have been nice to have some sort of “Counter” in the game mechanics. Loving the character roster and stages, shame we haven’t seen much of the story mode.

  • SolNeko

i think its kinda stupid how CC2 didnt allow people like anko, the sound four and others to be playable because they had no moves but they add nine tail chakra mode naruto who wont even have any moves by the time it actually airs on tv, especially since they even made up a move for him in this game.

    • MakoSoldier7

what? naruto has been using nine tailed chakra mode for like 20 chapters now in the jap. continuity of the manga. In fact hes already on to a new mode, where (i wont spoil it) he is fully fused with a certain tailed beats (who hes now friendly with and calls it’s true name) and that mode doesn’t look to be available.

      • SolNeko

I know that i was talking about the anime which is the reason why there wont be any of the characters from the shinobi war in the game, narutos chakra mode will be unveiled in the anime JUST as the game releases and he doesnt have any techniques when he first gets his form.

        • MakoSoldier7

ah, gotcha. sorry, i misunderstood. :)

        • protofox

what i dont get is when it came to the 2D games on ps2, people like anko and kohonamaru who had no movesets from the show, had some made for the game. why they cant do that agian i dont know.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jan-Daryll-Palanca/100000250304791 Jan Daryll Palanca

this would be the complete version of naruto impact on the psp if you minus everything but the character roster!

  • http://twitter.com/IXRoxasXI Rei Fal’Cie Sanchez

I’m glad that they’re re-doing the animation for the pain vs. Naruto fight because God that episode was like a freaking mess. I also miss the team ougi’s from accel 3

    • SilentSchemer

Oh, I miss those. Those were the best.

  • protofox

ah its like ultimate ninja 5/ accel 2 all over again. and i like the fact the kid characters for the most part looks like they got the exact combos from storm 1, cause i did enjoy some of the styles in that game which of course ALL where lost in storm 2.

  • Masengan

This looks really nice, I’d rather watch someone play it though. Hell I might even consider getting it or get one of my friends to get it.
