Corpse Party Haunts iPhone This Week

Well, that was quick. Last week, Famitsu.com reported that Corpse Party was being ported to the iPhone and other iOS devices. Today, Mages have announced that the game will be released in Japan this week, on February 9th.

Corpse Party on iOS is based on the PSP version of the game and will naturally feature touch screen controls. It will cost 2,200 yen (about $29).

IMO this may not do so well on the app store. They should’ve done something like Ghost Trick or Higurashi– releasing it chapter by chapter,  because honestly seeing an app cost $30 is really unappealing to a lot of people.

I can see what you mean. While I can now say after playing the psp version that I’d have been willing to pay 30 dollars for it, most new players may not feel the same way. 5 $6 chapters would make more sense. Or maybe 5 $5 chapters and then 5 $.99 packs that each have 2 of the extra chapters. They could even have offered a demo for the 1st chapter for free like they did for the PC version to intice new players (although to be fair, they could just link to that demo chapter instead of making an iOS version of it).

Anything better than a $30 iOS app -_-.

WHAT. Too much for an iOS game.

Tell me about it, steinsgate is $35

Why does this cost more then the psp version >.>

In Japan, it doesn’t. The Japanese PSP version is (or was, at least — I dunno if it got reduced for its Japanese PSN release) a full-priced ($50+) game.

Are you guys planning to do anything with the iOS version, Tom? It would be an interesting experiment for Xseed…

It’s not outside the realm of possibility. We don’t have any plans for it right now, but it’s definitely something worth looking into at least.
