Hatsune Miku: Project Mirais AR Feature Lets You Take Vocaloid Photos With Your Mii

Hatsune Miku and Future Stars: Project Mirai lets you view augmented reality Vocaloid performances, but we don’t know much more about this feature at the moment, other than that you can take 3D photos of the AR models and include your Mii in the same picture as well.

 

Sega demonstrated the AR feature with screenshots on their Miku blog, although they didn’t show off Mii functionality:

The other feature they showed was one that was recently revealed in Famitsu magazine: the ability to write and share comments that are overlayed over videos, NicoNico-style, in the game’s Theatre mode. Here’s how that works:

Comments are shared with other Project Mirai players using StreetPass. Hatsune Miku and Future Stars: Project Mirai is slated for release on March 8th.

    I was about to send in a tip as I just saw this on Sega’s blog early in the morning! Curse you, Ishaan! （*＾ワ＾*）

    When I found out that your Mii can take pictures with Nendoroid Miku, I think I melted a little inside! That’s a very awesome feature(I was thinking of Photo Shopping my Mii in there!)! ＼（＠￣∇￣＠）／　

    Though, earlier when Sega mentioned AR concerts, I figured that it would include like a stage, or something, for some reason! Or at the very least, include other Vocaloids, but it appears that Miku is the only AR character. (*≧m≦*)

    Regardless, it’s a very exciting feature nonetheless! (ノ＞▽＜。)ノ

    The commenting feature is very awesome, too, but it’s a shame it only works via street pass! Sadly, we wont be able to enjoy such a feature overseas! (´∩｀。)

      There are Miis on the 3DS too. You can import your Wii Miis to the 3DS which I still yet to learn

        I have a 3DS Mii, but I have reason to believe that the 3DS holding it will never be able to do this.

    Hm. Can’t say I care much about the Mii feature. I don’t mind that the Mii creation system is limited, but the Miis still look rather lifeless in my eyes. Which, again, is fine, until some games slap their heads on their in-game models. Some of the Miis in my machine range from awkward to disturbing when they appeared in Go Vacation… including the one that’s supposed to be me.

    The scrolling comment feature is a pretty nice emulation of NicoNico though.

      Hmmm… Have you tried the Mii Studio on the 3DS. I think it’s a lot more improved, and in the words of Nintendo, robust than the Wii counterpart. I couldn’t even re-create myself on the Wii! (*≧m≦*)

        No, I haven’t – you know, those minor annoyances like lacking a 3DS and all. Can’t say I’m impressed with the Wii Miis though. Especially when it’s my Mii that looks the creepiest in Go Vacation. Oh god, that empty stare…

        In retrospect, the Mii Channel could have taken some pages out of, say, Fishing Resort‘s character creation system. The interfaces are almost identical already, so some more options to choose from, and we could have gotten an avatar system that looks more pleasant. But then again, the Western game market’s general stance (particularly in this generation) regarding Anime/Manga looks is that they aren’t popular or don’t sell well, so… [Shrug]

            Demo unit? Oh, you mean the ones chained to small panels in game stores, with tons of fingerprints and sebum all over? …No, thanks; my curiosity can wait.

    More Miku is always the best ^^. …….. But…… taking photo of Miku with my Mii……. WILL MAKE MY MII LOOKS LIKE RETARD T_T. especially my Mii is taken after scanning my face directly.

    All those moonrunes covering my adorable Miku-sama…. I don’t think I like that feature anymore.

    AR looks incredible though: seeing Miku (and potentially the other Vocaloids too) dance around on my desk will make my life complete.
