This Is What The Kingdom Hearts 10th Anniversary Box Looks Like

Last month, Square Enix announced a Kingdom Hearts 10th Anniversary Box, planned for release alongside Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, in celebration of the series’ tenth year. Today, they gave a first look at the box via their blog. This is what the actual box looks like:

That’s Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, Kingdom Hearts re:Coded, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, a Nintendo 3DS cover, and a set of 12 postcards. The 10th Anniversary Box will be released on March 29th for 15,000 yen ($193).

    I’d love to get that, but it’s way too expensive. I don’t have the previous games yet, but I can get them 20$ each or something (dunno how much it is in $ so it’s not exactly 20 bucks, y’know)… But it looks awesome… aww. But I don’t even have 3DS, so everything would be even more expensive… guess the 3DS+KH3D bundle would be better, though I’m sure we won’t get it in EU. (I could get it from NA, I guess, but I think it’ll remain Japan-only). ;_;

    I buy many special edition collections, but this is quite possibly one of the most overpriced one’s I’ve seen, alongside Skyrim’s.

    I would bet quite a bit that some of those postcards are identical to the ones SE’s fan program sent out over the last few years, because I know I have that first one they show, and at least three or four more KH ones. Don’t get me wrong here; they’re very good quality and quite beautiful, but that just seems a bit. . .I don’t want to say cheap, but I can’t think of another way to describe it.

    That’s pretty weak for an anniversary pack.  Would have made more sense for them to have released HD updates of the first 2 with some postcards or whatnot. Or even just announced the 3rd, fans would probably have appreciated more.

    Yeah, like I’m going to pay an extra $140 for

    1. Two extra games that you can buy on eBay for like $15 each.

    2. A 3DS case probably about $10-$20 retail.

    3. 12 postcards that nobody would ever use. (Cause why give away something like that?) Maybe worth $3 each so that’s another $36

    4. The box itself that’s worth maybe $20.

    Not including shipping that’s about a loss of about $50. Add to the fact that I absolutely HATED Days and Re:coded, this give me no reason to want this bundle. Sorry S-E.

      well~ you also get Kingdom Heart 3D so that’s the 50$ right there. Honestly I don’t think it’s worth the price either, but that’s because I have both DS games and I don’t really care about skins or postcards.

    How about a HD collection with enhanced graphics for PS3 with the 3 PS2 games? I would enjoy that, as Re:COM was never released in EU.
    Ah and by the way this pack is stupidly overpriced, thanks for nothing SE :)

    The box looks nice and all, but it does seem a bit expensive for what you actually get…
    Besides, is 358/2 Days a “ultimate hits” version? I’d really hate to pay for such an expensive limited edition and find out that one of the games is a budget edition lol.

    It appears that SE is really going down the route of stupidly expensive collector’s editions… (yes, I’m STILL looking at you, FFXIII-2 Crystal Edition!)

    It’s only expensive because of the state the Yen is in…. The box most likely won’t leave Japan any ways and if it did then it won’t cost that much. Be realistic guys/girls.
    I really like the 3DS cover and the overall box design looks pretty cool, though KH3D is still the most important thing in it :P

    While this boxset in particular is extremely expensive and not really worth it, it’s still nice to see a Limited Edition that makes use of the 3DS’ backwards compatibility.

    Hopefully, we will see more of such Limited Editions (but better than this one, obviously) in the future.

    Okay…. so when do we get our REAL KH anniversery surprise?  Remasters of the first two KH would do nicely ^_^

      Don’t forget about Re: Chain of Memories and Birth by Sleep- They tie everything together (Birth by Sleep is probably one of the most important KH games in terms of story).

    if this comes out in the U.S. I will buy it as long as its costs less then $100, plus I don’t see the need for a remaster collection on ps3, if you don’t have the games or ps2 yet i am pretty sure you could get everything you need to play the games for under $70 dollars including the ps2

      Taken that way there really isn’t a need for any PS2 series to be remastered for PS3. You certainly could get everything you need for 1+2 for under $70, but the fact of the matter is that people would still like to play them on a current console.

      It’s also an opportunity for younger gamers who didn’t get to play the earlier 2 to get in on them, as I doubt any of them would want to buy a PS2 + memory card + games just to play that part of the series.

    Supposing this leaves Japan at all, we can be certain that it wouldn’t retail for $100+ in the US. There isn’t enough included to justify such a price in the US. The price looks this way due to the state the yen is in vs the dollar.

    Hopefully we do see this stateside though. I sold my DS long before 358/2 and Re:Coded came out, so it’d be nice to get them together with 3D. They’re cheap enough to buy separately, but it’d be nice.

    Hm… I love Kingdom Hearts and all, but I really don’t think this costs $200… I was actually expecting it to come with that neato KH3D 3DS.
