Meet Digimon World Re:Digitize’s Mysterious Ice Queen

The last trailer for Digimon World Re:Digitize mentioned a character named Mirei Mikagura. Today, we have a little more information on her and her Digimon.

Mirei is described as “cool” and “strong,” and is a mysterious girl who’s an ice-queen type. Her intentions are unclear and no one knows who she is, but she seems to know something about the dangers surrounding the Digital World. She seems to have a vested interest in the main character, for some reason. Screenshots show her fighting alongside him.

Mirei has two partners, and can change between them. This symbolizes the fact that she has two sides to her, but it isn’t clear whether they’re two entirely different partners, or it’s an evolution. The first is Angewomon, who is an archangel-type Digimon. She has a calm personality, doesn’t forgive evil deeds, and won’t relent until its opponent surrenders.

Angewomon’s species is often referred to as the goddess of the Digital World, and she uses Celestial Arrow and Heaven’s Charm attacks.

The other is Ladydevimon, a fallen angel Digimon. She’s arrogant and powerful, and contains undiluted dark power, which is why she’s rarely, if ever, raised by a human. She uses Darkness Wave (or Evil Wing, depending on the dub version), which sends countless waves of darkness in the shape of flying bats towards the opponent.

Re:Digitize also has a training gym where you can train your Digimon. Different training equipment raises different stats, and this is essential to keep in mind for raising a balanced Digimon.

So is there any chance something like this is headed our way? It used to be that this series was quite popular and then it seemed to die off into obscurity. In an awful way, even. It was a great series.

We did get Digimon World: Dusk/Dawn and the Data Squad game in 2007, but I don’t know if any new games were made after those. (TT m TT)

Well my concern is covering this with the fact that Sony’s pretty much nixing any future sales of PSP titles in the states for the most part is pretty much just going to make mention of this a tease in the long run…

There are quite a handful of games I would consider being teases in the long run, but not every game Siliconera covers gets an English release. Like you said, Digimon is not as popular anymore, so that might not warrant a new localization. It sucks <XI

As someone who really enjoyed the first few seasons of Digimon, it’d be nice to see a good Digimon game come by.
Though I’ve honestly not tried any Digimon games to date though I’ve heard of certain patterns that resembles the Monster Rancher pattern.

Im not even interested in this game and I think it was a terrible choice. Something about the artist’s style is way too serious and just feels really really off for Digimon. Its hard to describe exactly how/why that is though.

It does feel different, but my main concern is that the designs look way too close to devil survivor’s designs, still, i love big changes on franchise, and this is one im looking forward too, is not like digimon 3′s awesomeness depended it, all the contrary, it didnt had any char design xD just awesome pixels

I’d have to agree if only because I’m starting to get sick of people not knowing that artists can work on more than one game in their career. People, it is Very Old News who is doing the character art for this game, there should not be tons of comments about Devil Survivor when it’s not even relevant.
Would you even have a problem if you didn’t know about Devil Survivor/hadn’t seen the art there beforehand?
In any case… Honestly? I think it looks fine. It’s an interesting take, if you want to call it that, and certainly not BAD. It’s not like Toei/official anime artists were going to come and make art for a video game, and I’d rather an experienced artist I know and enjoy any day. If anything, -I- am thrilled – one of my favorite video game artists is on what might be THE major game for one of my favorite franchises. I should be ecstatic! And, hell, maybe I am.
Plus: Looking at recent Digimon games, which had… extremely lackluster art, I think this is a great choice, honestly. They’re saying “Hey! This is a REAL video game over here, not some cheap DS game we’re shoving out with our name on it!”
Then again, having actually looked at Digimon in other media (some mangas, etc.) and having seen how and gotten used to humans in other art styles, maybe I’ve learned to not be so critical over things not “looking Digimon enough” for whatever reason.

I actually know him as the DRRR!! artist. But the gravity defying bust was intense in DS(2), so now he has that stigma in my mind.

I think that’s just gonna be their style now.
I kind of feel sorry for them. They work on other titles, but they’re forever known as the artist who did Devil Survivor. Honestly, I wouldn’t mind if this became a series of games and they stayed on permanently.

Tch, again with the “artstyle doesn’t fit” in a Digimon series. Savers’ art style was a departure from its predecessors, but it was not all that bad, personally. Heck, I don’t see anything wrong with the Durara artist’s touch in this one, and it even makes me want to grab this game more and even hope that Xros Wars’ successor after March 25 would bear the game’s artstyle.

I think the only season where a Leomon hasn’t died is Xros Wars: The Young Hunters Who Leapt Through Time. And that’s not fair to say since the series is still going, so there’s still time to off one of them.

3rd season was pretty bombing due to how dark it got. Main character was annoying though.
It was the last season of Digimon I watched, as after that it just got stupid.

If by freakier you mean amazing, well written, and awesome, then yeah, Tamers did that. And a Leomon died in Frontier, Xros Wars, and probably Savers but I can’t say. Dunno about 02 though.

I tried to watch the 4th season where they turn into Digimon. It made me puke. All over the place. It was sooo bad. And this is back when it first came out and I was still fairly young and naive too.
However, I haven’t kept up with anything beyond the 4th season, because that one was just so horrid it eliminated any intent to watch new Digimon episodes.

Ah, I see. A case of the “it changed now it sucks” mentality at its worst then, given that Frontier is one of the most well written Digimon series of the bunch. It’s definitely on par with Adventure, in any case.
No matter what, though, not liking one doesn’t really mean anything given how the ones that follow will absolutely be a different show, but if that’s how you reacted to Frontier, Digimon fans are probably better off without you in their midst, sadly. You missed out on a great show, dude.

I love the character artwork as well, though I do wish the Digimon artwork was more like the “main character” artwork to fit it perfectly but I do like the Digimon Card portraits of them.
Is it me or do the Human characters have better “models” of them than the Digimon? Granted some Digimon models look awesome, but some like Leonmon here doesn’t look like it’s refined or smoothed out as much as the human characters. Could still be in development for the models, but I can’t wait for this game!

So which Digimon partner you want the most right now, for a Rookie Digimon? I like to have Dorumon! I’ve been drawn to his design since the moment I saw him, but was a little disappointed with DW4 as that’s his first 3D appearance but I still enjoyed the game.
The handheld games were great too, but it still lacked something to really get me back into the Digimon series, and it’s not the front-view battle system (though I would really like it to see more Digimon on the field). This is the game that will bring me back!
I’m guessing the Human characters are EASIER to make as they’re not that complicated with designs and they’re not very big and you going to have them there more than the Digimon… though I do though the Digimon models are still in development and showing who’s in and what they got so far until they refine it. They do that sometimes when making games, right?

Well, my favorite Rookie is Gaomon, so I’d like to have him. Impmon was my favorite Rookie til I saw him, he just looks so awesome! Elecmon (he turns into my favorite Digimon, Leomon) or Commandramon would be cool too.
I had no problem with the front-view games either (I loved Dusk when I had it on DS), but this is definitely the way I prefer the games to be.
Yea, often times what we see of a game is still in production. So what we’re seeing now is almost guaranteed to look better in the final game.
