Atlus released the first trailer for Etrian Odussey IV for the Nintendo 3DS today, showing off footage from the upcoming dungeon crawler. As previously covered, Etrian Odyssey IV has seven classes that we know of so far.

Etrian Odyssey IV marks the first time in the series that you’ll be able to see monster models on the playing field before you engage them in battle. In the Nintendo DS games, they were represented using glowing orbs. Another improvement to the game include an ability to toggle between different difficulty settings.

Etrian Odyssey IV is slated for release on July 5th in Japan.

Is the removal of the glowing orb representing FOE’s really an improvement? I mean, they no longer have the air of mystery around them on your first encounter. No longer will you be chased by an unidentified monster, avoiding it just in case it’s something that can one-shot your party.

…plus, the orange fuzz ball is pretty iconic.
