Xseed confirmed they picked up Unchained Blades, a dungeon RPG from the creators of Lunar and Grandia. The story follows Fang, a proud and powerful dragon emperor who loses his powers when the goddess Clunea sees his arrogance. Now a human, Fang befriends a phoenix girl, golem prince, medusa priestess, and an emotionless dryad. (More screenshots here.) Each character in Unchained Blades was drawn by a different artist. Fang was created by Shining series illustrator Pako.

Unchained Blades is played from a first person perspective and the Unchain battle system lets players turn monsters into allies. The four party members you brings have four monsters in their team for a total of 20 characters in a group.

Unchained Blades is slated for release on PSP and Nintendo 3DS as a digital download later this year. Xseed’s release will be fully localized with English voiceovers.

I tried the lunar demon on the PSP, it was good but not something that will cut in line of my other games. Grandia on the other hand looks like it might cut in and stay there for a while like Skyward Sword and DQIX. Those, Monster Hunter, God Eater, and Xenoblade being the reason I got so many games waiting to be played XD
