Sorry, There Isn’t Much Nanosuit Footage In This Crysis 3 Trailer

By Ishaan . April 24, 2012 . 8:30am

This morning, Electronic Arts and Crytek released the first trailer for Crysis 3, which isn’t due out for another year. Surprisingly, the trailer doesn’t show off any Nanosuit functions or give off the same “superhero” vibe that the first two Crysis games did—it’s just returning character, Prophet, gunning things down:

Perhaps precisely because we’re so far from launch, Crytek or EA aren’t willing to divulge more information at present, but it’s still a little odd that the trailer doesn’t even touch upon the series’ defining feature.

Crysis 3 will be released in spring 2013 for the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

  • The trailer showed the main 3 nano powers that were in the previous game. Not too sure what else we were supposed to see?

  • Solomon_Kano

Oh, I’m ready for this. I rented 2 on a whim and it was actually really fun. I still haven’t gotten to play the first one, but I hope this is less linear. 2 would’ve been so much more awesome if you could’ve just gone nanosuit crazy all over the city.

If you wanted more freedom, Crysis 1 has that in spades.

      • Solomon_Kano

I know. I wanted more freedom in Crysis 2’s setting particularly.

Well, if EA’s promises of C3 being an “open-world shooter” are to be believed, that’s what we’ll be getting this time.

          • Solomon_Kano

Let’s hope those promises are fulfilled then, because that would be awesome.

  • The Prometheus trailer took the sound from Inception.. Crysis 2 also had a similar score.

    • Ni_Go_Zero_Ichi

The similarity is no coincidence – Crysis 2’s main theme was composed by Hans Zimmer, who also composed the soundtrack for Inception.

What’s with all the Crysis 3 coverage on Siliconera? Don’t get me wrong, I’m a big Crysis fan, but as a first-person shooter developed and published entirely by Western companies, it doesn’t really seem to fall under Siliconera’s MO.

  • Ni_Go_Zero_Ichi

I’m guessing this will be a fusion of the previous two game’s playstyles – the openness of the first with the intricate setpieces of the second. I’m hoping it will, anyway.

Did anyone see the Falcon Punch at 1:22 . Maybe the Superpowers you are talking about are subtly being shown. Well at least the ones we already know of anyway. Kinda hard to improve on near perfection in regards to the suit functions.
