Udon’s New Disgaea Art Book Covers All Four Games

By Ishaan . April 26, 2012 . 2:31pm

Udon have announced an official Disgaea art book, titled DISGAEArt!!! Disgaea Official Illustration Collection. The book contains Takehito Harada’s art work from all four main Disgaea games, including game covers, promotional and concept art, book covers, soundtrack art and other art pieces as well.

The Disgaea art book’s retail price is listed by Udon as $40, but Amazon are offering it for $26.57. It will be released around late July/early August.

A big thanks to Siliconera  reader, Ereek, for the heads up!

Amazon UK have a page up for it with a preorder asking price of £30, for reference. No release date or anything, but hopefully it’s not too far off the one for the US.

Dammit. :/ I bought it in japanese already…

Hope it has some stuff not seen before, but a collection of all the old art is cool to.

  • Anyone know if there is much overlap between this and Takehito Harada Artworks Vol. 1?  I plan on getting that soon, but it would probably be fun to have a book comparing the changing character designs throughout the games.

Quite a lot as far as Harada art goes. Any Harada art around the time following the initial release of Disgaea 4 are in both books. The difference really comes down to content. The Harada Artworks has all NIS related art by Harada, which includes the four Disgaea games, Prinny, Makai Kingdom, and Phantom Brave as well as some obscure art group art that includes characters from games he hadn’t worked on (Marl Kingdom, La Pucelle, and Soul Nomad). Disgaeart, as the name implies, is more Disgaea centric. While it lacks the obscure art from Harada Artworks, it includes some non-Harada artwork (The Disgaea 3 themes and novels) and misc art such as battle cut-ins and ending CG (Though for some reason, Disgaea 4’s is completely missing) as well as two pieces of art unique to the book itself (The main cover, a hot springs pic with the Disgaea girls by Hideki Ishikawa, and an Axel vs Asagi pic by Soul Nomad artist toi8).

    MUST BUY!!

  •  All…four…games? Now that I have discovered Amazon and the wonders and online shopping, I MUST HAVE THIS! Wonder if there’ll be new art included specifically for the book or if it’s just a combination of pieces from all four art books?

  • Darn you Udon, Art books are my wallet’s weakness! ; _ ;

    Right next to OSTs.

  • Oh, another artbook brought over by Udon. Always welcome.

Takehito Harada is my favorite artist, and this announcement rocks my socks off!

  • Ereek

I’m personally hoping they choose to localize the Arland Series Official Setting Materials.  I’ve the Japanese version and it’s very beautiful, it would be a shame for western Atelier fans to not enjoy it as well.

I admit, UDON has been getting quite a bit of my money recently.

  • ThomasTruong

I almost bough it in Japanese for 40 last month so this is a nice deal from Amazon.

  •  I love updates on Udon and their upcoming artbooks on Siliconera. Thanks alot.

Currently undecided on this. I consider myself less a fan of the Disgaea series and more a fan of just the first Disgaea (though to be fair, I’ve yet to get around to D4). I’m not as in love with Takehito Harada as I used to be, but his style remains charming.

  • AdventureTimeFinn

Just pre-ordered this. I’m a big fan of Takehito Harada’s work.
