I downloaded the Mega Drive Collection for my Vita and playing almost every game listed here. It is for PS II-IV alone a good run for its money :D

        • Exkaiser

Yeah, I picked up the PSP version of the Genesis Collection just for PSIV, since the GBA Phantasy Star Collection only has I-III. Definitely worth it, though.

…though, 90% of the playtime on that game is my wife playing Sonic 2.

Oh look an ork call the space marines.

Shining Force I & II are in one of the OTHER Genesis Classics Collections, FYI. :P

SEGA still trying to make money off of old games? :|

why don’t they re-release shining force 3 and panzer dragoon saga? they’d make mad bank.

  • http://twitter.com/ZEROthe1st ZEROthefirst

Where’s Phantasy Star I? That was a great one, and was way better then III in my opinion.

    • http://twitter.com/TheRyusui Ryusui

      It’s a Master System game.

      • http://twitter.com/ZEROthe1st ZEROthefirst

Opps forgot about that, I forget which games are on which console for Sega and some other companies since there are so many of them.

If you want to have part 1, get the Sega collection on ps3 and xbox, it lets you unlock phantasy star 1 by doing something that takes like 5 minutes.  Plus, it contains every game, pretty much, that sega keeps re-releasing on all the online platforms, save you have it on disc, and able to be played again 20 years from now.  Oh, and it has shining force 1, 2, and even shining in the darkness.

  • http://twitter.com/TheRyusui Ryusui

I gotta ask, is the sound emulation any good in these? Because Sega’s Smash Packs and the like have always been kinda fudgy in that regard.

Also, I wish Nintendo would wise up and start releasing collections like this. Yeah, yeah, “not as long as they have first-party status”…maybe in another five years, then? :P

    • Tom_Phoenix

      Keep dreaming.

    • CirnoLakes

If the gaming industry ever did heavily move to the PC, Nintendo would probably be the very, very last in line. In fact, I think that the console industry would have to collapse entirely for that to happen.

On the other hand, why won’t Square release their classic games on the PC? That would be a great idea, and Final Fantasy VII and VIII are already Windows friendly. And porting games like Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy VI to PC shouldn’t be any hard that what SEGA has done.

Heck, there’s a lot of companies that need to do things like that.

REVENGE OF SHINOBI!?! With Spider-Batman intact? PLEASE YES!

A Sega Mega Drive game collection that doesn’t contain any Sonic games? Wow :P That’s a first for me, ahah ;)

In all seriousness, I’ll consider picking one of these up. Damn, I miss the Mega Drive days.

  • CirnoLakes

Yay, Phantasy Star on Steam. That’s always a good thing.

It took a while, but I’m surprised at how many jRPGs Steam has now.

I can’t not buy /any/ iteration of the classic Phantasy Star games. I think I own, like, eight or nine variations of PS2 alone.

  • Oni123

    Mega Drive!! 8D

  • Oni123

Most of these can be found on the mega drive ultimate collection for ps3/360. =O You can pick that up for next to nothing now.

why would anyone re-release PStar 3 is beyond my understanding, but beyond oasis is one great game and its ‘sequel’ on Saturn almost made the console a worthy purchase for me

    • raymk

Well I guess they had to cover all their bases. I honestly think people would just pirate Pstar 3 if they really wanted it.

  • ddh819

i remember psiv was priced at like $80 in the 90s in my local ElBo.
