Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth Coming To Wii U And Kinect

By Ishaan . May 10, 2012 . 12:30pm

This morning, Ubisoft announced Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth, a game for the Wii U and Microsoft’s Kinect. Battle for Earth will be a motion-controlled game, although Ubisoft haven’t announced just how it will be played on the two platforms.

The game will have the classic Avengers—Captain America, Iron Man, Thor and Hulk—fighting of an invasion of genetically-altered Skrulls, but will also have other Marvel characters. Whether or not these characters will be playable hasn’t been announced, but Ubisoft say that Battle for Earth will have over 20 Marvel characters, and will be based on the Secret Invasion comic series.

Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth is being developed by Ubisoft Quebec and will be released sometime this fall. “Fans of the Marvel universe and superhero games are going to love the extensive combinations of characters, motion-controlled
moves and competitive gameplay,” said Tony Key, Ubisoft’s U.S. Senior VP of Sales and Marketing.

  •  You would’ve thought they’d have an Avengers game sooner, seeing how that would print money by now.

Well there was a Marvel Super Heroes Wii game but it was aimed for kids as it was a rail shooter with really easy levels, not to mention Marvel Ultimate Alliance and the Super Squad game (meh) and then there was an Avengers game based on the movie for PS3/360 which was in first person but that got cancelled.

      • Will this just be a kinect game or can you play this with a pad? I will not buy Kinect

  • too bad da THQ one got canceled, it woz lookin’ right promisin’

dere iz gameplay of it on da youtubez.

Humie Translation Bot: ironically the one movie game that looked promising got canceled, which there is gameplay of on youtube.

  • On the bright side, at least this is faithful to the source material (read: actual comic books, not the Uwe Boll-ized adaptations).

  • Could this have anything to do with the recent success of The Avengers movie?

    ……… Nah~

This doesn’t sound too interesting, but I’ll keep an eye out. A Marvel game not touched by Activision gets an auto-look.
