  • Awesome. Getting this.

Brace yourselves, complaints about DLC are coming.

    • boundries_san

      …. not suprised lol.*Troll face*

  • Paradox me

Looks pretty neat. Battles with Caius were just about the highlight of XIII-2 for me.

  • KingGunblader

Oh definitely getting a PSN card tomorrow. I want this, the Snow stuff, and the Mage costumes.

  • ResidentMetroid

Hahaha did that trailer just show the entire battle?

    • Chiupon

      I’m pretty sure it did.

  • hm…well I happen to have 6800 microsoft points so I guess I’ll buy this tomorrow and play it when university is OVER.

  • why do i get the feeling that the dlc is only 1 fight?

    • OathkeeperSoraXIII

it will be one fight but in different phases similar to most final bosses in Square games from the looks of it, you’ll fight Caius, then him in his Chaos Bahamut form etc. also look at the HP I expect it’ll be a long fight with cutscenes inbetween :)

  • OathkeeperSoraXIII

wow! so cool! i’m looking forward to this. the only thing i’m not looking forward to is that the UK psn updates on the 16th annoying :( oh well. seems we’ll also get some info on *spoilers for anyone that hasn’t completed the game yet* why Lightning sit’s on Etro’s throne crystallized, by the looks of it she did it willingly (atleast that’s what I got from the end of the trailer)

looks like i’ll have to contain my excitement for this for until Wednesday. DAMMIT UK PSN! D:

I just played through this game as an end of my short summer break before class starts reward.

I have to say it’s a great improvement over the first game and it was a fun journey. But I somehow feel indifferent in many ways. I’m gonna get alot of hate for this but as much as I was really disappointed with the original XIII, I feel it is better polished, and has a more coherent and confident direction in which the game wants to go than this game.

the Japanese games and their DLCs in my opinion are also pretty horribly implemented in general in my opinion as well in this gen. Before I get flamed, I have been playing JRPGs since NES era (my first RPG was DBZ 2 (lol) and Final Fantasy III) and believe me I love em, but I feel alot of the methods they use to implement modern technology is pretty horrible.

For example, when I see this game, i feel there should be (minor spoiler) a sequel. Instead I heard it leaves room for DLC.

I believe a complete experience should be delivered and DLCs are the nice toppings to an amazing cake. The DLCs of this game is very lackluster vs some of the better DLCs in the RPG series of other games, but I think this one will prove a bit diff I hope.

I stated this before months ago but I really enjoy the XIII series mythos, it has an incredible back story to it. Precisely the reason I looked so forward to this game.

I just wish it expanded upon the original game’s atmosphere, characters and etc. with the gameplay mechanic improvements of the second.

Just my thoughts on the game. To the fans of this particular numbered series, XIII-2 is a helluva ride. As a long time fan I feel it’s not the best the series can offer.

Sorry for the wall of text but it’s just that I feel the series has SO MUCH potential. The back story and mythos alone is amazing. Not Square Enix bashing but I feel they need a better director of RPG games. Maybe not as technically amazing but many of the Mistwalker games for example were extremely fun and memorable for me.

That being said, let us get the Prada outfit DLC lol

hmm. i think the main reason ff13’s story felt more ‘flowing’ was mainly because of it’s biggest complaint: it’s linearity. it makes sense. the games GIVES you it’s pacing. here we pick and choose. that’s why we can never have both great pacing and freedom. ffx (for me) had great timing because of it’s linearity. conversely, ffx-2 (again for me) felt too free, with you deciding when the next major scenes would occur, i was so immersed in the side plots that i completely forgot the main plot (even now after 6 gameplays i’m still a bit fuzzy on the story’s details. something about a guy from the past and a weapon?)

      • Happy Gamer

I agree with you but actually what I was thinking has nothing to do with the nature of the game. It’s just how the game itself was put together in my opinion. I mean heck they took years making it vs XIII-2. Not sure how to put it in better words.

  • Happy Gamer

I totally forgot my original post motivation lol. Do you guys think they will release an extended epilogue like they said? I mean apparently XIII-3 is out of the picture (then again they could just be saying that).

    • Anime10121

Square never actually said they would release an extended epilogue, it was just a rumor spread by sites and commenters alike who figured that since the game was getting DLC the conclusion would be delivered as DLC.

Square hasn’t officially said anything about the conclusion to the game or denied XIII-3.  The only thing that has been said was that Square Enix NA jumped the gun when they registered for a XIII-3 website domain.  That is neither a confirmation that it will never happen (especially considering that went down b4 XIII-2 was even released in NA) nor confirmation that it will.

Its funny to me that rumors get spread around so much that people actually start believing them without basis.

Me personally, I’m hoping for a full sequel, as XIII-2 actually made the mythos interesting (while the original XIII barely explained anything without you having to read all of the mythos in the menu).

    • SirTeffy

I find it unlikely considering Lightning’s story is clearly listed as NEXT PROLOGUE, and apparently shows off a dual-role system.

      • Happy Gamer

siliconera update: her DLC will be last release for the game. Either SE will totally piss ppl off or make XIII-3. I think they will go the latter route to cash in.

  • RmanX1000

Just please explain that damn ending… Idc how long this DLC is, i dont care how much this DLC is, just. please. explain. that. damn. ending….. Please…

    • Herok ♞

Tell me what you don’t understand about and I will explain it for you.

      • RmanX1000

Lightning being crystalized. Or whatever. It just felt unexplained.

        • Guest

Well seeing as how the trailer ends with her walking up to that throne where she sat crystalized….I think your prayers just might be answered.

Then again, this is Motomu Toriyama we’re talking about here…

        • Herok ♞

It will most likely be explained in the dlc because it happened after Lightning met up with serah and noel and so does this dlc

  • Wow umm she beats the crap out of him and just because she lets her guard down for a moment he somehow wins in the end. Hmmm I don’t know what to make of this.

  • komiko12

I am starting to think that Lightning could replace Cloud as Final Fantasy’s poster boy/girl.

  • The video was removed by the user ;_; I’ll have to dig around youtube to find the trailer it seems!

  • karasuKumo

Thing I’m excited about is the fact it says “Next Prologue” in the trailer. I’m hoping for a XIII-3 since this is a series I’d like to see continued. Despite how horrid and unbalanced XIII’s gameplay was the base plot was pretty cool. Still think they should make an Advent Children style movie explaining XIII’s lore and the past of Cocoon and Pulse ending with Caius obtaining the heart of chaos, that would be badass.

  • Christopher Nunes

Here’s a trailer again, since the one in the article was removed by the user.
