Recruiting Digimon Makes the City Prosper in Digimon World Re:Digitize

By Laura . May 18, 2012 . 5:31pm

The Digital World in Digimon World Re:Digitize is in a crisis once again. This time, something called the “Blackening Phenomenon” is happening, causing the Digimon to run amok. Confusion reigns, and because of that, many of the Digimon have left Primary Village and the shops are left empty. They’ve scattered all over File Island and it’s up to the hero to bring them back.

This is done by finding Digimon all over File Island and then completing their request or defeating them in battle. As the Digimon return, the stores will start opening again and many other services will start to be offered in the city. For example, Meramon can be found searching for cooking ingredients in the forest. Once you find them for him, he’ll return to the city to open up a restaurant. You can talk to the village chief Jijimon to see how the village is faring in the form of “Prosperity Points.”

As you wander through File Island, you’ll run into wild Digimon and “Blackened” Digimon. Approaching them will cause a battle, although some will wait and others will actively approach you. You can tell which is which by looking at the icons over the Digimon’s head. You’ll have to be careful, though; if you initiate a battle while there’s more than one Digimon onscreen, you’ll have to hold off both Digimon at the same time.

In battle, you give commands to Digimon in real time. The more intelligent your Digimon is, the more commands you can give it. However, if you pound out too many commands, you’ll just stress the Digimon out and they’ll start ignoring commands.

If you find yourself in trouble, you can use a DigiMemory to summon a powerful one-shot attack from the Digimon. DigiMemories are obtained after a Digimon dies, when you have the choice to have the new DigiEgg inherit the old Digimon’s parameters or to save the old Digimon as a DigiMemory.

New Digimon introduced with this update include Meramon, Jijimon, and Beelzebumon. Meramon is a humanoid Digimon cloaked in crimson flame. They’re born from the “firewall” that protects illegal entries on the internet.

Jijimon is an ancient Digimon credited with being around since the creation of the Digital World. He lives in Primary Village, giving advice to the protagonists. Beelzebumon is a demon Digimon that controls many other demon-type Digimon. It’s prideful and is called one of the Seven Demons (which correspond with the seven sins). He stands at the top of the dark army, the “Nightmare Soldiers”.

  • The only Digimon series I watched was Digimon Frontier (which I really liked), but I actually really want this game… I hope there’s an English localized release, because it might finally get me back into the Digimon series.

    • ShindoW

Nice to see someone else who loved Frontier. Its my second favorite right after Adventure. :3

  • Guest

Beelzebumon!!! One of the most badass Digimon in existence is in here?! I MUST HAVE THIS GAME! Each article about this game just makes it so much better! X3

    • Raharu95

You are not joking. Literally every consecutive articles makes people want the game more and more

  • Dead ringer to Digimon World 1 indeed. Prosperity points, getting back the Digimon scattered throughout the Digital World and Jijimon retaining the guide role.

Now you have to wonder if Analogman or A’s back in this one.

    Must get.

    • Renaldi Saputra

maybe this game will replace someone from GIGO company for the analogman..

      • Steven Higgins

Maybe Analogman will be GIGO’s CEO.

        • Renaldi Saputra

          it seems

          •  After the first Digimon World and according to Digital Card Battle, the Kurata template himself was merely a disembodied consciousness after his corporeal form was destroyed. So likely we might see a case of possession here.

          • Renaldi Saputra

don’t forget about oikawa yukio too

  • FitzpatrickPhillips

    2 more months…

  • Xapth

Ahhh, I can’t wait for this game!

I want to once again make my Digimon poop already!

    •  Never never do I want to do that again! I spent my whole childhood with  Numemons and Sukemons because I didn’t know about the base stats and kept getting too far from bathrooms and wouldn’t make it on time.

      • Renaldi Saputra

and now in re:digitize…. Lily is partnered with numemon

        • Well at least I don’t find Numemon cute as she does.

  • Renaldi Saputra

just like the original DMW 1 :)

    • Pretty much, which makes me wonder how much of the gameplay has actually changed for better or worse.  A lot of people would end up putting it down eventually because of how tedious it got.

      • Renaldi Saputra

just hope it will be much better

      •  I’m fine with the old gameplay as long as they give us more information. Unless you had a strategy guide there was no way of knowing how to digivolve to a certain digimon. Maybe you can obtain information from NPCs on how to digivolve to a certain digimon or perhaps you’ll have a complete database with the digimon base stats.

Well, not anime version, but this game will have a manga adaptation. You could say a successor to the Xros Wars manga.

    • Renaldi Saputra

      FUS RO DAH!!!

    • Protag skin is dark!?

      • Probably it’s just either high contrast color or low brightness.

  • kamikki

Oh god… could this be an even more awesome game? Have they confirmed V-mon and V-Evolutions?

  • konsama

    I want this now! >_<

  • This is pretty apt considering I’ve been looking at Digimon stuff for about a week now (along with wanting to draw them). This series was a staple for me back in middle school, it would be cool if this game came out worldwide.

  • Reno Evangelista

    Wow. Really calling back here.

Meramon and Jijimon are two of the digimon from the original Digimon World game… where they were a chef and village chief, respectively.

  • Strain42

Another article, another not confirmation of western release. I know how slim the odds are, but I just can’t give up hope yet, even if that’s the smart thing to do…

    •  I doubt the game would receive any kind of confirmation until after months of being released on Japan. Potential interested parties for localization will probably wait and see how it sells in Japan before thinking about it.

      • Renaldi Saputra

70% of chance it will be sold well in japanese. I’ve seen so many pre-orders in some japanese gaming websites..

  • I can’t wait for this. Even now, I go back to the old PS1 Digimon world (probably far too often). If this is as good as that one was – I’ll be playing it for years.

    •  Me too. I recently came back to Digimon World and started it from scratch since I never got around to pass it. My prosperity rate is already maxed and I go back from time to time to do the impossible to get those last medals of digivolving to every single digimon and winning every single tournament. However I doubt I’ll finish before Digimon World ReDigitize comes out.

  • AuraGuyChris

The sudden excitement of owning a MetalGreymon dies out when you find out he’s literally a midget compared to his actual size.

    • Were you dreaming of having colossi fighting for you? =P  They’d absolutely dwarf your character and would probably demolish the city more than whatever crisis is plaguing them XDDD

It’s an interesting through, though … would the city be built huge, then…?

      • AuraGuyChris

Giant Digimon would probably be living in the wild the most. That’d sound hypocritical, but there’s nothing to be done.

But then again, they made Magnamon and Guilmon’s Mega form huge in Data Squad…

        • Renaldi Saputra

digimon’s size are vary… it could be bigger or smaller.. they can make theirself bigger IIRC..

          • Interesting to see humongous Digimon like Apocalymon gets downsized in games. In 2d, all you see of him is that decahedron thingie and his humanoid part is itty-bitty.

          • Renaldi Saputra

LOL.. i just wonder why they make digimon downsized in most of games.. is it bcos of the small dimension??

          •  I remember when i had Whamon in Digimon World 1 compared to the Whamon NPC. lol. The Whamon npc covered the entire water to the top right of the city while my Whamon was tiny. Its all a design decision. If Digimon weren’t downsized they wouldn’t fit inside houses, wouldn’t display correctly on trainings and such.

      • There were some cosmetic changes in the first Digimon World game as your prosperity rate increases; new buildings like arena etc.

Hopefully the city in this one will show drastic changes all around the more Digimon you return to the city; For example, Meramon’s restaurant would also upgrade in looks to accommodate the increasing number of inhabitants and such~!

Oh, who can’t forget that eccentric and scatter-brained Vamdemon/Myotismon in Grey Lord’s Mansion?

    • I doubt his actual size could fit the psp screen lol. Making the digimon too huge would break the game. Imagine trying to cross through the town with MetalGreymon at its normal size completely blocking the camera of the game.

It just wouldn’t work. Even on the cg of Digimon World 1 he was huge. But he wouldn’t fit inside houses or the trainings if he was that big. Therefore the size has to be more standard.

  • solbalmung

Wow, this is really starting to feel nostalgic! Looks like Namdai didn’t lie when they said they were gonna go back to the origin (aka the first Digimon game on ps1).
I really really hope that this get localized and not tossed to the abysmal depths of unlocalized JRPG =( .

  • Holy-
It’s got so many callbacks to the original Digimon World, it kind of breaks my heart. I’d be all over this game, but I feel like it won’t ever be localized.
    I should stop clicking on the updates on this game/depressing myself.. ;_;

    • Renaldi Saputra

don’t lose your hope.. for me it’s all ok if it won’t be localized as long as there’s still someone who will create an english patch voluntarily..

•’re right. Hopefully that’ll happen, at least. Even if it takes a long time for a fanmade patch, that would be wonderful.

  • Honestly, this game sounds awesome.  Don’t know if I would ever get to playing it, but for all the fan’s sakes I hope Xseed grabs it.

  • Its either a localised game or anime……

  • Christopher Nunes

Oh the memories of Digimon World 1, where we go around File Island to bring all the Digimon together at File City with Jijimon giving you Prosperity Points to see how far the city has come!

And Meramon running a restaurant again in the PSP game? I guess he loves to cook! So we finally know what the DigiMemories are for, I wonder how many can we have and I wonder when’s the best time to choice to have them? For Ultimate and Mega Digimons only? It’s nice to have a fallback in case you get put into a corner and it’s like you have more than one Digimon partner!

This game is sounding more and more awesome with each update!

Though what’s the Square and Triangle commands for in that battle screen? Is the Triangle one the DigiMemory one?

    • Correct me if I am wrong, is Meramon the fire digimon? Can I hv a pic of
      Jijimon and Beelzebumon?

      • Renaldi Saputra
THIS GAME WILL BE ADAPTED INTO A MANGA.. well maybe still far for hoping an anime adaption.. but manga adaption is still a great miracle

        • Good thing about the manga: Main character will be given a “uniform” name.

Persona 4 also had a manga and anime, and the main character was known as Souji Seta in the manga whereas he’s Yu Narukami for the anime.

If I am not mistaken, Goggle Boys’ names have either a “Ta” or “Da” in them. Taichi/Tai, Daisuke/Davis, Takato, Takuya, Daimon Masaru/Marcus Damon, Taiki and Tagiru.

So he’ll probably known something along like Taiyou or Tatsui.

          • Renaldi Saputra

only masaru whose name does not start with ‘da’ or ‘ta’.. btw daimon is his surname

          •  Yup, I’m aware Daimon is his family name. Listed it down for uniformity.

          • Renaldi Saputra

shujinko’s name has been confirmed. His name is Taiga.. and yes, still have a name which starts with ‘ta’

      • icecoffemix

Yes, Meramon is a human-like bipedal fire digimon.

You can easily got those two other pic with a simple google. :p

        • Oh dat old dude and the 3 eye biker digimon. Meramon as a firewall = COOOL.

  • Pradipta W. Permadi

if seven demon are there, they should have Royal Knights, annddd i’d love to see them kick ass !!!

  • Altoire

Jijimon… Meramon.. I still remember them from my digimon world 1 game :|

  • boundries_san

YEHAAAA!!! So i can make File city in a lively city once more? Count me in Bamco!!! Going to pre-order this game asap!!!

  • Kitestwinblades

The second screenshot is kinda hilarious xD
Metal Greymon, owning two ultimate levels lol

    • omeganeko

lol But then he realizes that he has only done about 5% damage to them.

  • Raze

I hope Lucemon is in this game

  • icecoffemix

Namdai really know how to please old school DW hardcore.

  • Hinataharem

Once you go black, you never go back.

    Game is unbeatable.

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

    • Renaldi Saputra

      dat boobs

      • LynxAmali

One of the many reasons Xros Wars may not be getting dubbed or released anywhere but Japan.

        • Renaldi Saputra

most likely.. or maybe they’ll cut those scenes

          • That will be one heck of a challenge to edit/censor in the dub.

        • ShawnOtakuSomething

  • Fancy seeing you here, beelzemon the biker banchou.

    • Renaldi Saputra

  • Renaldi Saputra

ooh and about those digimemories.. finally I understand. Many ppl said that xros terms won’t be used in it. But apparently they really include some terms from xros wars, maybe not adding xros digimon like shoutmon, dorulumon, and etc with unspecified lv. Yes, that digimemories summoning is only in xros wars..
