Mahou Tsukai no Yoru Sequels In Development At Type-Moon

By Ishaan . May 19, 2012 . 4:30pm

Speaking with Japanese site, 4Gamer, Type-Moon co-founder, Kinoko Nasu, along with the artist, Hirokazu Koyama, and producer, Monoju Tsukuri, confirmed that two sequels to the company’s recently released Mahou Tsukai no Yoru are in development (via Anime News Network).

The series’ story begins in earnest with the second game, Type-Moon shared. Additionally, the long-planned Tsukihime remake is also being developed in parallel.

Prior to that, however, Type-Moon’s next major priority is to wrap up development of Fate/Extra CCC, which is being developed in collaboration with Imageepoch and Marvelous AQL. The game was recently delayed from its spring release window to winter 2012.

I can’t say I’m happy about them separating the game into three parts instead of just making one, long visual novel in the first place. But I guess I can’t complain.

  • Daniel Morandi

I wonder if we will see something about Tsukihime remake soon, at least a trailer or teaser for this year. Im waiting that novel, I’d love to see the Satsuki route (according to the old rumor) and with a similar quality of the recently Mahoyo (DAT ART!)

I knew about this secuel of Mahoyo because they already said that this serie will be a trilogy but glad they confirm that they are working in the next novel along with tsukihime. Maybe will see more conection about the two stories.

  • Laith Rem

Personally, I’m waiting for the Tsukihime Remake and the third DDD novel. Yeah they aren’t translated, but still.

  • amc99

So tsukihime remake is still in development, That’s a good news I guess.

  • Luna Kazemaru

Knowing Type-moon its going to take forever.

  • Altin Bujupaj

I’d rather like Tsukihime first, but it is good to see that they have not abandoned it yet.

  • Darkrise

I wonder if we’ll live long enough to see a sequel to Mahoyo AND a Tsukihime remake….

    • Wayne LaBranch

If not, our Grandkids will be able to enjoy it 83

      • Luna Kazemaru

make makes you think that haha

  • Göran Isacson

So there’s a sequel, AND a re-make, and a new series with TWO sequels, and a game developed in co-operation with another company.

The old adage of biting off more than one can chew comes to mind.

    • Historiata

Hey now, it could be worse. Worst case senario they pull an ASWs on us, haha ha!

  • João Madalena

Shut up and take my money, I’m all for more Type-moon goodness.

  • Elliot Gay

Hoh, interesting. I’m only a few hours into Mahoyo right now due to being pretty busy, but it’s been fantastic so far.

    Looking forward to more.

  • KuroiKen

Type-Moon, hurry up, I’m aging rapidly. I’m waiting for Tsukihime remake for years already…

    • boundries_san

I still don’t understand why does Tsukihime needs a remake here? As the game in the end is still visual novel and mostly text. It will stays playable for a very long time here.

I would rather had a small VN that gives me Illya route here lol.(Which is considered as “Archer” EMIYA path)

      • jotun_of_greed

if anything, I’d like an anime adaptation for tsukihime please

        • Zeta

          A real one, anyway :V

          • KuroiKen

yeah, since there is no Tsukihime anime, it’d be good if they made one.

          • Guest

             Actually there is one
but I wouldn’t reccomend it seeing as it butchers the rep of the REAL Tsukihime. Go watch Fate/Zero its a million times better or Carnival Phantasm(parody of all characters in the Nasuverse)

          • RablaAndrews

          • Darkrise

@SnowDreamerX:disqus I have no idea what you’re talking about, I’m afraid the link is broken.

          • Equinox K

Actually there is, just not as good as the visual novel.

          • Dylan Ng

            Aw get real guys.

      • icecoffemix

        “Isn’t it sad Sacchin?”

Yet I still want Altrouge more than her route. >.>

        • boundries_san

WUUTTT u no love ILLYA here???

          • neocatzon

well, she doesn’t need her own route. Everyone loves her (..or loli, what’s the difference?)

          • boundries_san

WUT NIHONJIN WA Minna LOLICON DA!!!!!!!!!!

          • icecoffemix

I mean Altrouge route vs Satsuki route

if that’s still too subtle for ya:

I’d rather them make Tsukihime 2 than remake of the first which is rumored to will have Sacchin route.

          • boundries_san

Ohh thats better.^^ I am rooting for u if u are asking for Tsukihime 2.^^

      • KuroiKen

Because the there was just one route they cut from the original, and it’s rumored to be the best one.
Also, I think Nasu will add something else besides. Also, updated art might be good as well.
        Anyways, I’m waiting for it.

      • Chestnut Bowl

It was made before TM was a professional development studio. I imagine they want to make the game with the productions values they didn’t have or weren’t capable of when the game was first created.

In addition, they probably want to retcon some things, or better fit the game into their ever-expanding world.

If you chose to rape Arcueid

You’re gonna have a bad time

      • LynxAmali

         You don’t rape Arcueid.

        She rapes you.

        • raymk

Couldn’t have said it better myself.  It works both ways for her lol.

Oh man..  *looks at shelf overflowing with Type-Moon goods* *looks at own copy of Witch on the Holy Night* sigh I know, I know you’re lonely right,? you want the sequel too right? but Type-Moon is too damn good at stealing my money. After preordering Pokemon Conquest, Black 2 and buying Diablo 3 I’m BROKE! T_T

    • Historiata

      It’s a never ending spiral, isn’t it?

      • Dylan Ng

Paradox spiral, spiral paradox…. *Me wonder should I be happy tht I a non-gamer who wants to be a gamer?*

    • KuroiKen

I know that feel, bro. Bought MahoYo, ordered 4 games for 3DS(Rune Factory 4, Senran Kagura Burst, Soul Hackers, Kingdom Hearts 3DDDD) and now I’m broke too, until next month…T_T
Not like I regret it, though.

      • Guest

Ah same here ‘cept I’m a girl though bro… These days my wallet empties itself as soon as I get paid. Which ain’t too good when I look at my empty fridge and compare it to my overflowing game cabinet. ToT.

  • boundries_san

Ohhh i am really happpy that Mahou Tsukai no Yoru is going to get a sequel here.^^ Man i really need to finish mine first here lol.^^

  • Zeidge

This is going to take a loooooooooooooooong time…

No matter. Funds will always be available for Type-Moon stuff even if they take forever to get done.

  • RablaAndrews

    I think i’m in love.

  • E15

    I approve this.
Now to see if my life span holds up to see these games.  :3

  • Lunar_Outcast

Can’t wait to see that Tsukihime remake in 15 years.

  • Silver Citizen

Additionally, the long-planned Tsukihime remake is also being developed in parallel.
YEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSS! Best part about this story. Can’t exactly get excited for a sequel to a VN I have yet to play.

  • Derek Kim

Man, Type-Moon has came a very long way since Tsukihime.

    Good for them.

  • neetyneety

“Additionally, the long-planned Tsukihime remake is also being developed in parallel.”

^Wow, I had given up all hope by now. Well, Type-Moon, as long as you release it before I’m a middle-aged bastard who won’t even get the chance to read stuff like VNs anymore, it’s all good…..

  • Nadav

So, will we ever see a Type Moon game in English?
