Onechanbara Makers D3 Publisher Teases E3 Announcement

By Spencer . May 25, 2012 . 3:14am

imageAside from an Adventure Time game, we haven’t heard too much from D3 Publisher. In North America, D3 Publisher is associated with the Ben 10 license and Gods Eater series. The company also used to make quirky games in Japan like Zombies vs. Ambulance and the Earth Defense Force series.

D3 is teasing an announcement for E3 with shooting stars falling in the background. New Bangai-O? I hope so, but these days their Japan team primarily makes Vitamin X visual novels… but then again that’s not the kind of thing D3 would announce for North America.

New Bangai O???? Hell make it real D3!!!!

  • Jrpgfanatic

My fingers are crossed for Onechanbara Z Kagura, even though it doesn’t seem likely.

  • landlock

Like God Eater Namco may just be using that label to release another one of it’s games.

Are you sure D3 are makers of these series? Bangai-O is made by Treasure, and the Simple 2000 games were programmed by companies such as Sandlot (EDF) or Tamsoft (Onechanbara), so I don’t really know if the guys at D3 are only handling the publishing tasks or if they take care of the developpement process as well.

In any case, I guess we can expect a Onechanbara Z localization announcement, if this wasn’t done already.

    • D3 has been the “maker” recently. While Treasure develops the games, D3 is the publisher. Check the box of Bangai O Spirits. They also released Bangai O HD.

I just happen to have that game and it mentions Treasure and ESP, though without specifying that they developed it.
About all it seems to claim D3 did with it was distribution.

Okay, I see. Not being a native speaker, I had some difficulties understanding the difference between “maker” and “developper”. I thought making the game meant doing the actual coding job. From a foreign point of view, it seems logical, ha ah. %)
So, “maker” is more like “publisher”…now, that makes sense indeed. ^.^
But in this situation, who would decide to start the development of a game? Is D3 commissioning the games or are the developpers those who start the project? I imagine it could be D3’s decision for the Simple 2000 but Treasure’s position would be different…

It can actually go both ways. A publisher may want a sequel to a successful game or a new game from a specific developer, and they can then commission the developer to make one. Or, the developer could go ahead and start working on a game that they want to make, and then start shopping it around to different publishers to see if anyone is interested in publishing their game.

I saw Onechanbara and immediately thought we’d be getting a new one.
Though particularly with that starry image, I could easily see this being God Eater 2 probably for PSV considering God Eater 1 was released under that “favorites” thing, so it appears to have done well. But hey, it could be on PSP especially since they made it work last time.

  • Brandonmkii

    God Eater 2 plz.

  • BadGenome

    Sandlot-developed EDF, please.

  • Altritter

  • Yuri

That logo reminds me of Deus Ex for some reason…

  • AzureNova

    Onechanbara: Kagura please! >_<

    • Juan Andrés Valencia

Seconded, it looks 1000 times better than Vortex.

  • if it’s not kagura D3 can gtfo.

i really want that friggin game…in english.

  • Taiyz

My wishlist? Onechanbara Z: Kagura and God Eater 2 localization announcements. I’d even be fine with just digital releases, honestly.

And the return of Sandlot to the Earth Defense Force franchise.
