Harvest Moon: A New Beginning Will Blossom In North America

By Ishaan . May 29, 2012 . 12:26am

Harvest Moon: The Land of Origin is being localized. Natsume just made the announcement over Twitter. The game will reach North America as Harvest Moon: A New Beginning, and will make its debut at E3.

Harvest Moon: A New Beginning adds features such as being able to take a vacation with your family or go on a honeymoon, but the most major addition to the game are its customization features, which let you play either as a male or female character, customize how they look, and set up your farm from scratch.

Want to see what customization looks like? Take a look at it here. You can read even more about the game using its tag on Siliconera.

    Go go Harvest Moon!

But I still had my hopes on Harvest of the River Lufias: Metabee Version until the very end!

    • boundries_san

…. U know….. on the first glance, i thought u are writing “Harvest of the Liver” lol.^^

  • rawenergy

And now we play the waiting game…

  • Sweet!!!

  • puchinri

    That was fast. 0u0;
    And, yay!

I hadn’t realized those features were also added in the game, that’s pretty nifty. I’ll have to look into the title again more on ushinotane. Do we know if there was/is any sort of online features at all too?

Of course, the most important question is: what will the preorder item be~!?

  • Does this game include any of the same-sex relationship options we’ve seen previously? If so, will I be forced to not buy this game because those options won’t make it into the English version?

    • same sex relationships?!!

      • riceisnice

Some harvest moon games had a “Best Friend” option. Where you could make like a pact to be best friends with someone of the same gender. Then they proceed to live in your house and I think you even find an abandoned baby to take care of. So it’s like you’re “secretly” married.

    • Herok ♞

But if you don’t buy it then they will stop translating games and then you will be stuck complain about how they don’t bring HM games to the US, so I don’t thinking missing same sex relationships is that big a deal and you never know they may leave it in.

      • Given there’s like 9000 English Harvest Moon games no one should complain about more not getting localized.

      • I buy games I enjoy playing. I do not enjoy playing neutered games. The localization of future games could not matter less to me if I don’t enjoy current games.

        • Herok ♞

But for all we know this game may not be “neutered”, at this point you are just assuming it will be.

    • AJ

In Japan they allow same sex relationships in HM?

And they cut it out of the English version?

The Stonewall Riot started over less!

  • Oh god yes more harvest moon

  • Europe release pleasssseeeeeee???????

    • SirRichard

Give Rising Star a few days, they’ll jump on it soon enough.

      • Somazu

More like half a year to a year, with their track record of bringing HM/RF games over to europe. I really hope they do bring it over pretty fast though, I can’t wait. CURSE YOU REGION LOCKING!

        • Curse region locking as well, wish they kept up with localization like how Square Enix did with Kingdom Hearts 3D and that music game (release date between US and EU is close). I understand that they are a small publisher like Ghostlight.

      • Took them a while to announce harvest moon games imo. I don’t mind waiting for their announcement even if it’s half a year since I recently bought their latest two harvest moon release which will keep me busy for a while.

  • boundries_san

I know that this is not a suprising news at all….. but i am still damn happy to see this news.^^

  • Yay!!! (✿❛◡❛)ノ:..。♦♫♦*

I’m expecting this to be good, but I honestly would’ve preferred Rune Factory 4. No real point in whining about it, though; I’ll probably just end up getting this, regardless of my opinions of what I would have wanted more from Natsume.

    • Juuu

I wouldn’t worry-Natsume RARELY announces things before they’re out in Japan. I’d expect RF4 when it releases overseas-I doubt they’d pass on a game that’s already getting so much hype and high preorders. c:

  • In the future Natsume, don’t tease announcements that are about as surprising as the sun rising and setting every day.

    • MrRobbyM

This. Harvest Moon doesn’t need it. Hype something up that isn’t so well known so gain attention. Like…River King.

  • Very excited for this! One of the reason why I’m getting a 3DS. :)

  • Roanoke834

Hmm. I haven’t played a Harvest Moon game since the super glitchy version of HM DS. And Rune Factory has taken over my farming/virtual girl stalking needs.

Have they gotten better? I just remember DS being super tedious and kind of boring really. I really liked HM 64 and even the SNES way back when those came out. Have these games improved at all since then? Anything they’ve learned from RF? I’m wondering if this might be a good time kill to get me through to RF4’s eventual English release.

    • puchinri

The Wii games were really great. I feel like RF could learn more from the ToT and AP actually, and that MMV should learn more from them too.

  • Welp, time to start saving for a 3DS.

OK American localisation confirmed. Fingers crossed for Australian release date. Why is it that there are so many games being released this year?? My poor wallet and credit card are struggling.. I’m struggling financially… Hopefully its during December this year, Amir! wait a little longer and then we will be togther again!

  • Yup this is the sign I was waiting for. Time to get my Midnight Purple 3DS… but first more virgin sacrifices to acquire money.

  • its about time US actualy trys to get good games and for the 3DS which needs it more then any of them  i personally hope for a 3ds Pokemon game soon
this is realy exciting to see the new games not a small change made to a 2D game i hate to see old things fade from memory but i want the old DS games to disappear and move onto the new age of all handheld games completely its been a LONG wait for decent games and this looks like a step in the right direction
