Following a series of teases, this evening, Konami showed a new trailer for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, developed in collaboration by Kojima Productions and Bayonetta developer, PlatinumGames. Take a look at the new trailer, courtesy of Gametrailers, below:

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance will be released in early 2013.

Extremely excited about this game. Platinum hasn’t failed us yet

  • So excited for this game. Along with Kojima and Kojima Productions, Platinum has always delivered exciting games for me. Cannot wait to get my hands on this game next year.

    • Code

      Nothing >w<; Platinum's got this~

    • flash402

      you forgot cheesy script.
if that isn’t included, you don’t know platinum games well.

  • ShinGundam

I don’t like Platinum games that much but this game THIS GAME !!!111oneone

    • Asura

“I don’t like Platinum games that much”

I’m not sure how that’s even physically possible…

      • KuroiKen

It’s possible. I don’t like them one bit. Especially as developers for MGR

  • now this is what you call metal : trolololol
jokes aside this game is going to be awesome  slicing and dicing pepole will never get old  hell i might dig up my old metal gear solid 2 just to play with the katana again ^_^

  • MrKappa

A lot of people whined and moaned when this was given to PG but they are doing a rock solid job if this trailer is anything to go by.

    • boundries_san

Haha.^^ The only thing that can get M in U.S is when the game had a lot of “sexual content” not violence.

  • MrSirFeatherFang

    What AM I fighting FFOOOOOOOOAAAAARRRRR!!!!!!
I hope Snake gets a mention (like he’s dead) or something like that. One of the enemies looked very similar to an enemy in Anarchy Reigns (you could only see it as a wire-frame in the tutorial).
This trailer looked pretty cool. Some platforming aspects (since Raiden is a cyborg… again?) Stealth moments were awesome as well.

    • Mr_SP

Raiden was always a cyborg. MGS4’s ending just gave him civilian-type parts, not a human body.

  • Mr_SP

  • Mr_SP

  • This and SMT 4 make me happy.

Looking forward to TGS way more than E3.

    • boundries_san

TGS has always be more interesting than E3 for me lol.^^

  • ThatBlackGuy

what is this feeling welling up inside me is it…happiness.

  • elsalvadorps

Hell Yes…2013 is going to be freaking sweet

  • Kris

I have no words. Nothing is left in me but raw excitement. XD

  • Zonic505

Despite not being a huge MGS fan, I seriously cannot wait to play this, especially since a demo will be available with ZoE HD copies (& then later on Xbox Live/PSN).

  • z_merquise

Sigh. Now I need to wait for 10+ hours before I get back home and watch it.
To anyone who watched it, how is it like?

Watched the trailer. Dialogue sounds cheesy but that’s a part of the charm of Metal Gear series, I guess.

But the action and the gameplay. . . whoa. I want more!!

    • Kris

It’s interesting to see how Platinum seems to be incorporating some of the pre-Revengeance Rising mechanics into the game, like grabbing power sources out of robots and cutting through walls and watermelons. As far as the action goes, it’s for the best that I don’t spoil that stuff for you.

The story seems to alternate between looking interesting and horrible. The bad voiceover in the trailer really doesn’t help, but it seems that this game will focus a bit more on Raiden’s evolution both pre and post-MGS4.

      • z_merquise

So in general, an over-the-top presentation with lots of cheesiness. Sounds like a Metal Gear game to me. But added it with Platinum’s style of action and craziness.

Thanks for that. Watching this trailer followed by playing Anarchy Reigns demo would really made my day.

  • Shadowman

Word can not express the amount of awesomeness was put into this game.

  • Can’t wait to cut everything that moves.

    • GreekGod88

      DAY 1 Baby DAY 1

  • Code

You know it’s funny but I enjoyed the first trailer way more then this one uwu;; But it seems like this one is really making a lot of people eating there harsh words for Platinum uwu; There was never a doubt in my mind the game would still have everything Kojima envisioned, otherwise he’d have never went with Platinum.

    Yes it’s not your typical Metal Gear, but it’s not suppose to be, and with Platinum’s help I think it’s going to be more over the top then Kojima could have hoped for working with just with Kojima Productions alone. Platinum always delivers >w<;;

  • CrimsonalCore

  • I have mixed feelings about this…

I was hoping that it still got that little bit of metal gear stealth and slow-paced gameplay but what I’m seeing here is a jacked-up version of Ninja Gaiden 3…. The action is so fast that I can hardly see what’s going on….

    • RupanIII

Same here. I’m sure this will be a fun action game, but it just seems so against Metal Gear themes.

    • XiaomuArisu

I saw a little stealth in the trailer and dont forget the nonplayable ninja did some crazy stuff too.Of course it wasnt Platinum crazyXD

  • canarinta

Hahaha, I can’t read “Revengance” with a straight face~ I don’t know why but it’s just sounds silly to me!

Other than that, looks great! Though, I was under the impression this was going to be a PS3 exclusive.

    • MrRobbyM

Me too. It sounds like something an angsty teenager would come up with for his band’s first metal album or something.

    • eilegz

       lets just call this rising

  • frokenok3

So much HYPE! This game is gonna be something different from what people used to know BUT it’s gonna be a game to be remembered.

  • Kiritsugu

    Kojima lost the north completely.

  • Prinnydoom

I know people have a hard time with raiden but this does nothing but make him better in my eye’s ^___^

  • Nitraion

Oh Raiden…. I giving you MC seat this time :p

    • Didn’t Snake die?

      • Nitraion

noo i just enjoy the my vacation given by director….

  • Kitestwinblades

Metal Gear Solid: Tactical Espionage Action
Metal Gear Rising: Will it slice?

Its been a while since I’ve seen Raiden defy practically everything and I love it!
Cant wait to try out the demo later this year.

  • Souji Tendou

Already watched it on G************ few hours ago. Can’t contain my excitements. :O

    Can’t 2013 come sooner??!! Argggh! >_<

  • MrRobbyM

Looking good, Rising! Looks like my hype for this game is rising on up.

But seriously. That was awesome. Too bad the narrator sounded like a bad impersonation of the Colonel.

  • the first trailer was better, but only because the song in this one was awful

    • alexis cortes

      “♫WROOOONG♫” LOL.

  • Epic!

  • eilegz

i can understand why MGS fans its salty about this game, but somehow i liked what i saw here maybe too ninja gaiden for me but its looks awesome.

it also bring the old rising stuff like zan-datsu

  • Ryu Hayabusa just found a kindred spirit.

  • z_merquise

Here’s an interview and some gameplay footage that wasn’t in the trailer: (right after the trailer)

    (Interview started at 18:43)

Is it wrong that I love song in the trailer?

I found that the song is titled “Wrong” by Depeche Mode.

    • XiaomuArisu

       Its not wrong,its right to like the “wrong”song…get it?It was a pun…
      I actualy liked the songXD

  • XypherCode

    Ninja Gaiden 3? xD

  • Solomon_Kano

Platinum never fudging fails to amaze me. I’m liking that we saw a bit of the “take” part of the gameplay from the original here. Also: slicing up a heli in midair just to have it explode when you touch down? AWESOME.

    Can’t wait for this.

  • SetzerGabbiani

This looks like Devil May Cry and Ninja Gaiden’s bastard child.  Not feeling the gore, but the gameplay looks solid.

  • CaibreGreyblade

I want this game. Especially, I want it on Vita as well as big consoles.

  • idofgrahf

Great, a metal gear game in name only. Where is the stealth? There’s plenty of action games around as it is, DMC,
Bayonetta, God of war, Ninja Gaiden, Ninja blade the list goes on…

    • Solomon_Kano

Mind you, even Kojima’s said that this wasn’t meant to ape Metal Gears past. They wanted to make a game that put players in charge of all of the crazy stuff Raiden could do in MGS4, and here it is.

    • PoweredByHentai

      It’s called a “spin-off”.  Grow up.

      • idofgrahf

So next time Sony makes a God of war game it would be a dating sim and we can justify the God of war title by saying its a spin off, how very profound.

        • PoweredByHentai

You know, I wouldn’t mind playing a God of War dating sim game.

But seriously, grow the hell up.

          • idofgrahf

Says the person who answers my post with an ad hominem comment, real persuasive right there.

          • Keep in mind the context of the game. You’re not Snake, you’re Raiden. You don’t have a gun, you have a sword. You’re not doing espionage anymore.

And also, you must have missed the multiple scenes where Raiden assassinates guys. If that isn’t a stealth element, I dunno what is.

And yeah, okay, so there are a bunch of action games. What’s your point? There are also a billion action movies and they’re still making them. And we still watch them. And, when they’re done right, they’re STILL GOOD.

          • PoweredByHentai

How is telling you to grow the hell up supposed to be an ad hominem comment?  Your original comment itself was nothing more than you just bitching about something that is obvious to everyone else but you.

You’re just replying to me to be a troll. Hence why my original statement is perfectly valid.

          • idofgrahf

How is telling you to grow the hell up supposed to be an ad hominem comment?”
So instead of arguing against my assertion that the game is a metal gear game in name only and not game play, you attack my maturity level, real persuasive, guess what, that’s what ad hominem is, ugh kids these days don’t even know the meaning behind simple Latin terms anymore…

          • PoweredByHentai

So let me ask you this then:

Where do each of the Final Fantasy games fit into the Final Fantasy lore or series for that matter?

If you look at the numbered FF games, they’ve all gone their own ways and 2 of them are even MMORPGs.

Where does FF Tactics Advance series fit into the FF Tactics War of the Lions universe?  It doesn’t.  Tactics Advance series were their own thing completely separate from the War of the Lions.

So why aren’t you complaining about the Tactics games being completely different from your usual Final Fantasy numbered series?  Because you’re a hypocrite, a spoiled brat, and a goddamned troll.

Here, let me quote the BS you spewed:
Great, a metal gear game in name only. Where is the stealth? There’s plenty of action games around as it is, DMC,
Bayonetta, God of war, Ninja Gaiden, Ninja blade the list goes on…

Is that not a clear enough indicator that you don’t deserve a full rebuttal from me?  You’re not mature enough to accept the fact that Kojima and many others have mentioned that Rising/Revengeance is a spin-off of the Metal Gear universe.

That is why you are a brat, so grow the hell up.

          • Nathan_GreeneIV

Metal Gear game in name only? Like what PoweredbyHentai said Grow up.

    • XiaomuArisu

       Metal Gear Solid=Stealth Action Game
      Metal Gear Acid=Stealth Tactic Game
Metal Gear Revengance=Ninja Action Game made by Platinum Games aka YES!

    • Sperium3000

This is not Metal Gear Solid. This game never promised to be like the other MG games. You want a stealth MG game? Go play Guns of the Patriots again, that was a good one.

    • Rohan Viajar

so I’m guessing you don’t pay attention to gaming news until a few months after the release or the actual release.

      why do I guess that?
      oh.. I dunnoo…. >_>

    • boundries_san

Even though Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker is more or less Stealth Hunting game?

  • MonkeyCloud

The inclusion of Depeche Mode made this trailer x10 more awesome. I’m sold.

I bet the view count on their youtube songs will suddenly go up substantially after this.

  • Laharl

Looking at these comments complaining about how action oriented this game is, It leads me to believe they have distorted memories of how Cyber-Ninja’s act…

It’s exactly like this trailer, or did you forget the gekko breakdance or armless soldier slaughter?

  • idofgrahf

Michael Hung  Yes you play as Raiden, but you also play as Raiden in MGS2 and last I checked, that’s a stealth game. And just because it has stealth elements in a mission does not make it into a stealth game, there are plenty of games that have you assassinate people without raising alarms heck even Viking battle for asgard has elements of that. Lastly my point is that Konami is starting to do to Metal gear what Square is doing to FF IE lets make a bunch of spin offs, dilute the franchise.

    • PoweredByHentai

what Square is doing to FF IE lets make a bunch of spin offs, dilute the franchise.

Wow, where have you been for the past 20 years?  The Final Fantasy series is the most successful experiment-driven franchise of all time and its “brand” has been used for many, many, MANY projects prior to the past decade.

There was a Final Fantasy OVA, then a Final Fantasy anime TV series, and then there was that Spirits Within movie.  And then we had Final Fantasy Tactics on the the PSX right after FF7 came out.  And then there are the Crystal Chronicles series and various remakes and spin-offs on handheld platforms like Revenant Wings, Crisis Core, and even Theatrhythm.

Dilute the franchise?  Quite the contrary, by taking bold risks like that, SquareSoft (and now Square-Enix) has been able to deeply embed the Final Fantasy brand within the public imagination.

I’m not fond of some of their less remarkable ventures either, like what happened with the Spirit Within movie or the Final Fantasy Unlimited anime series, but they have a brand that they are perfectly willing to take risks with and that is perfectly fine with me.

      • Nathan_GreeneIV

Dude dont forget about MetalGear AC!D. Even though didnt play like the other mgs but it was pretty bold to make a card srpg.

        • PoweredByHentai

MG Acid was pretty damn hard.  It felt like I was always playing with a bad hand in poker or something without the ability to bluff your opponent face-to-face.  XD

          • Nathan_GreeneIV

Heck yeah man! It took me awhile to get the controls and as soon as Teliko came in. I dont even know how to activate her guns up till now. haha

  • Nathan_GreeneIV

Gonna purchase the game because I grew up with Raiden. My first mgs game was indeed MGS2 Sons of Liberty. Playing with Snake was impressive but when it switched to Raiden I got to know him on a personal level and that is when I wanted to pick of the other titles because of him. Seeing Mgs4 Raiden made my day 1 purchase worth it and I was surprise how drastic his change was from a “Rookie” to a Badass! 2013 MAKE MY WALLET WHEEP!
