Halo 4 In-Game Footage Shows Master Chief Battling New Enemies

By Ishaan . June 4, 2012 . 10:20am

Microsoft showed off a playable look at Halo 4 during their E3 media briefing today. Their conference kicked off with a live-action trailer for the game, followed by in-game footage, which showed Master Chief battling Forerunners, an ancient race from before the start of the Halo series’ events. You can watch both below:

Halo 4 is slated for release on November 6th, 2012. You can take a look at the limited edition of the game here.

I like where this is going

  • Luna Kazemaru

I’m somewhat hyped for the game now.

The new lighting effects are looking pretty good. Also no head bobbing, finally a developer who understands.

Now I hope they just don’t mess it up like they did with Reach. Well at least it’s not Bungie.

    • Darkrise

Except most of the staff working on this are from Bungie.

  • rebecasunao

Xbox, play Halo 4 and ignore everything else.

  • “look at those alien teleport!”

  • SirRichard

This and Tomb Raider were the only good parts of Microsoft’s entire conference, that was absolutely miserable. I don’t think anyone is going to get worse than that.

Can’t wait for this, though, the one last glimmer of hope for my dear 360.

Too true. I know E3 is not just for games, but even the other stuff looked pretty boring overall. Then again, apparently they were the best selling console worldwide last year, so I have to assume they know what they are doing.

In the meantime, bring on Halo 4! We can’t go wrong with that.

      • andref

Well at least this year was better than the last two years not to mention if I remember right last year only had two console games with the rest of the games shown were kinect

    • Luna Kazemaru

MS in a nutshell….kinect the games

  • AzureNova

They did a good job of presenting Halo 4 at the Microsoft conference. It looked really good, and I will probably be getting it once it comes out. I like the whole new twist on the enemies and the new weapon technology presented to the player. Also as a Master Chief, I will not let our leading lady Cortana down =P

Makes me wonder why they just dont use live action actors for their cutcenes like Wing Commander of days old

  • Anime10121

Anyone else notice, (or am I hearing wrong) that the chief seems to have a new voice actor?

    • SirRichard

He sounds like Duke Nukem at times in this, honestly, though that might be just because I haven’t heard him in a while.

  • Darkrise

The only shooter I’m interested in.

  • ZEROthefirst

This was the only thing MS managed to pull out their asses so far for E3. I felt more embarrassed watching this than Sony’s “spectacular performance” in 2006.

  • Solomon_Kano

Best damn part of MS’ conference (that was actually a game, some of the Xbox stuff was pretty sweet). That was awesome. Nothing on Xbox holds my interest like Halo. To think people doubted 343. This honestly is the best any Halo has looked to date. 343’s finally giving me a reason to dust my 360 off.

Never seriously played or followed this series, maybe that’s why.. but somehow, I’m getting crazy Metroid Prime vibe here, lol. And aliens kinda reminded the ones in Prime, the way they looked, teleported and stuff..

    • malek86

Yeah, it did remind me of that. The settings in MP1 were great, but I was never a fan due to the slow gameplay, while Halo is more up my alley. So if they “fuse” some elements of the two together, that could end up great for fans of both series.

  • I’m really happy I got an Halo when it first came out. Though the Forerunner does kinda feel similar to Alien or something from Metroid, still loving it. I like the new HUD, and Cortana always seems to steal my heart :3

  • Kai2591

gah. Need buy a new xbox 360 at this rate…it’ll be my 3rd one lol. The first two broke.

  • Göran Isacson

I too get a Metroid: Prime vibe here, but I like that- it hopefully means we won’t be fighting the Covenant THAT often since I actually LIKE fighting side by side with the Elites and Grunts and what have you. Going back from that just doesn’t seem very productive.

Also, I don’t know if I’m the only one who played the strategy game Halo wars, but the ship teleporting REALLY reminded me of a sequence from that game… could the 3 lost Spartans in that game be making a return?
