New Super Mario Bros. 2 for the Nintendo 3DS is littered with gold coins. These coins are left behind by enemies, rain down from overhead pipes, and special gold pipes transport you into coin-filled caverns, too. With this new focus on gold coins, the game will record all the coins you collect throughout.
Additionally, gold rings turn enemies into special golden variants and a Gold Flower item gives you the ability to turn anything in your path into gold coins. Nintendo also confirmed the return of the Tanooki suit for this game.
