Nintendo Land Is Multiplayer-Focused, But Can Also Be Played Alone

Earlier this evening, we posted impressions of one of the games from Nintendo Land for Wii U—The Legend of Zelda: Battle Quest. While our impressions were of the game in multiplayer mode, Nintendo revealed at a developed roundtable that Siliconera attended, that the game can also be played in singleplayer.

In singleplayer, you play with the Wii U GamePad as archer Link, and shoot your way through the game. While the main course through which you travel will remain the same, the layout will be modified to take into account that you don’t have support from friends.

Nintendo also revealed that, while we only got to try out one course in The Legend of Zelda: Battle Quest, the final game will have 2-3 courses with different bosses at the end.

At the roundtable, Nintendo Land producer, Katsuya Eguchi, stressed that Nintendo Land will be a deep experience, not a shallow one like Wii Play, reasoning that Nintendo are putting their name on the line by having it be part of the game’s title. Nintendo Land will be a Wii U launch game this holiday.

I am really happy there that nintendo themselves said that wii play is not fun.

Hope that all the minigame on nintendo land will be really fun too play.

That’s not what they said though. Wii Play is plenty of fun for the shallow mini-game experience it provides. Nintendo Land is supposed to give a “deep experience”, not necessarily more or less fun.

I would have thought that N would make better looking Mii’s this time around for a new console. PS3’s look a bit too uncanney valley creepy. Microsoft’s is the best of both worlds imo

Guess this won’t be a pack in then. The concept looks like it should be good for families / kids, but I don’t think I’ll be picking this up.

I hope it will have about 60-100 hour gameplay like zelda wii … not only 20 hour like wii party …
