Lego City: Undercover Is An Open-World Undercover Detective Game

By Ishaan . June 6, 2012 . 11:12am

Ninja Gaiden 3 and Project P-100 aren’t the only game outside of Nintendo’s portfolio that they’ll be publishing—they’re also publishing Lego City: Undercover by TT Games for both the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. The Wii U version is an open-world game starring an undercover detective, Chase McCain, who’s on the trail of Rex Fury, trying to put an end to his crime wave.

On the Wii U, you use the Wii U GamePad to scan for clues, receive mission updates on the screen, and place waypoints on a real-time overhead map. Since Chase is an undercover detective, you’ll also have to wear disguises to access different parts of the city. Firefighter, construction worker and robber are a few of the disguises available. TT Games also say that there are over 100 vehicles in the game, including sports cars, bikes and aircrafts.

Meanwhile, details of the Nintendo 3DS version haven’t been announced yet. While Lego City: Undercover will be released this holiday on the Wii U, the 3DS version’s release date is “TBA”.

So you didn’t like Pikkie 2 either?

          • Dyne

I knew that I wondered because Pikkie 2 had two commanders.

It looks pretty fun. I am probably expecting more than it will offer but I am sure it will be a fun little thing.

This was the best game at Nintendo’s conference. I can only hope it hits the Vita (under a different title, of course) someday. I usually dislike the Lego games, but this really did look like a lot of fun.

… Yes little child, don’t play with ACTUAL toys, sit down and play a game instead. Naked commercialism has never seemed so strange before.

THAT ASIDE this looks amusing enough. Nice to see them branch out the lego concept into their own franchises instead of JUST making Lego Batman/Harry Potter games… although what is the difference from an actual thief, and Chase disguising himself as a thief, going around and snagging coins?

Even though they’ve appeared less often in the past few years, about half the Legos video games are based on original Lego sets.
