Battles, Marriage And Farming In A New Rune Factory 4 Trailer

By Ishaan . June 13, 2012 . 11:01am

Marvelous AQL have been releasing lot of little clips of Rune Factory 4 lately, but today, they’ve put out a full-length trailer for the upcoming game, covering battles, characters and other features.

As reported previously, Rune Factory 4 allows you to form a three-man party with up to two other characters and take them into battle with you. You can also ride monsters that you tame into dungeons. New features for the relationship system allow you to simply maintain a relationship with someone instead of getting married right away, and the game will open up extra events as you get closer.

Rune Factory 4 will be released on July 19th for the Nintendo 3DS.

The heavy focus on the male MC still worries/bugs me a little, but this time around, it looks like things are 100% equal, so I’m not too worried.

All of the art is so nice, and the more I watch and see, the more excited I am. I hope we don’t have to wait too long to see the game here~.

I completely understand your concern here. It does seem like they’re still focusing more on the male lead in all their PR and marketing. That said, like you pointed out, the game does seem to be 50/50 balanced in terms of male/female options, so there shouldn’t be much to really worry about.

I think what may happen is that, between the positive reactions from women to this and the new Harvest Moon, they’ll start to increase the attention they give their female audience in terms of who they market these games to in the future.

My real concern for the future of Rune Factory, though, is that they don’t let it reach into those higher levels of otaku-esque fanservice. I mean, if you look at it objectively, we’ve already got furries, lolis and shotas in this game, but they aren’t presented in a “disturbing” manner. I hope that doesn’t change in the future.

        Yeah~. All the news and such has shown that they are making the effort to make it equal, and I am so glad and grateful for that, but the marketing just keeps worrying me. It reminds me of Oceans, and even though I know that the game is probably fine, I just get antsy. vuv;

And that’s definitely something I’m hoping for~! I hope they’ll catch on to the audience and target the female audiences more, as far as in game and marketing-wise.

That’s a very good point. I was noticing it, but I wasn’t really worried. But, really, it’s a place I could see them going. However, I have faith in them. But I do hope the same. They’ve done a great job of appealing to a lot of tastes, niches and audiences in a smart way, and I’d love if they continued to do so without becoming “disturbing” or questionable.

Ohh, I cannot WAIT until this comes out for North America ♥ O ♥~

I’m terrible because right after I choose one I think  “Did I make the right choice?  Will the other girls be sad?”

Then I shiver because I remember I’m playing a video game.

    • Testsubject909

      The proper answer then is:

      Take ALL the girls!

        HAREM!!!

    • andref

Well it’s not like you have to choose one right away when you can maintain close relationships with all of them before marrying

Loving everything about this! Now if only we could keep the JP voices for NA localization..

  • Vampiric

    i wish it were localized

    • Anesia Hunter

most likely it will. even more so with how much noise it’s creating and i think this game is even more expected than harvest moon: a new beginning.

    • Dylan Anantha

Dont worry, this is RF. Theres no way it wont be localised, especially with how much effort they put into reworking all the old mechanics of the previous games.

Love the op song, very cool!

  • haqua

The sounds I made when I heard Forte, Dylas, and Leon speak were inhuman.

Sigh. What am I doing with my life?

Fangasming over 2D hotties. It’s a legitimate way to spend your life in your free time.

I never played a Rune Factory game before, but I think this one will be my first!

    This looks amazing!

  • Ace.Of Hearts♥

*fangirl screams* This is awesome!!! LEON <3~~I'm dying to get this when its localised!! its so cute!! dates… cute bishies…pretty girls…female MC (like finally!) yays!!! hmms wonder if there will be a dragon boss called Ventuswill? cos the other 3 have all featured in past games.. oh wells

    • RaikageV

I believe that the green dragon which was already shown in other videos and screenshots actually is Ventuswill.

I wonder what they’ll do in the 5th game when there are no dragons left.

The dragon who takes you in IS Ventuswill, she also has an offshoot human super loli form called Seriza (who’s perverted as hell if the comic is to be believed) who apparently puts in an appearance in game.

  • Binku Muja

If we can ride monsters into battle-does that mean I can ride Dylas in his ponycorn form into battle? I can’t be the only one thinking about this. I mean, come on, he’s a girls wet dream come true.   (✿❛◡❛)ノ:..。♦♫♦*♡

Finally a female protagonist! :) Can’t wait for this to be localized. I hope they keep the original Japanese VA but if not, they better hire good American VAs. :)
