Kokuga, G.Rev’s 3DS Shooter, Blasts Out In September

By Ishaan . June 13, 2012 . 10:30am

This morning, G.Rev announced a release date for their top-down Nintendo 3DS shooter, Kokuga. The game will be released on September 27th, and as previously reported, it puts you in control of a tank. You can watch an older trailer for the game below:

Kokuga uses a card system in the place of powerups. When you start a stage, you get 20 cards. Four are displayed at at time on the 3DS bottom screen and you tap one to use it. Cards can either give you offensive or defensive capabilities, but the order in which you can use them appears to be randomized.

Kokuga will support Download Play using a single cartridge for up to four players when it is released. G.Rev say that more information on the game will be made available in the days to come.

I’m a little curious~! But even as a shmup fan, arena shmups aren’t exactly my thing sadly o~o; Although I really like what they’ve done with four player co-op, and from what I’ve seen it has some kind of power-up system. I love G.Rev and would definitely support it if I could. That being said I’m far more interested in more Senko no Ronde 3 information >w<~

Well. I thought having a change of pace and getting arena style would be great here as shump nowadays is mostly 2d vertical style and this one will give us some new shump flavor.^^

I only had one question.T_T……. No local news???

If it does get localized, I hope it has a lot of content to back up its retail release, ’cause, from what I’ve seen, this seems more suitable as a download/digital release. Generally, I’ve felt like this for all arena shmups (Geometry Wars for example).
