Atlus released a new promotional trailer for Etrian Odyssey IV last night. It shows off bits of various dungeon areas, as well as battles against different kinds of enemies. You can watch it below:

Etrian Odyssey IV will be released on July 5th in Japan. Prior to that, Atlus will release a downloadable demo of the game via the Nintendo eShop. You’ll be able to carry your save data over from the demo into the full game.

  • Seems like a true and great successor to EO3 to me.
If they localize it, it’s day-one purchase.

  • Impressive. The enemies in 3D are amazing. HYPEEEEEEE

Now THIS is how you do a first person dungeon crawler.

Mouth. Watering. Must. Have. Atlus US you know what to do!

    I alredy love this game!

  • I like this a lot! But does the music in the trailer imply that they’re not using FM Synth for the songs in this game again? I really liked that for the other games.

Man, right when I was starting to forget those damn F.O.E.s…. oh well, you just gotta love dungeon crawling. Haven’t played one since Strange Journey on the DS, so I can’t wait for this~!

  • Sigh… If only some brave publisher would bring this to Europe or Nintendo had kept the 3DS region free :( Won’t invest on a third 3DS just to play this one, even if the idea is somewhat tempting.

The new visuals actually make it look even more like an abomination stuck in the limbo between past and present but the game underneath is probably still just as thrilling as ever. The series might have severe issues with storytelling but that combination of charm and dread when entering each new floor and slowly but surely mapping them out is just plain awesome (´ ▽`).。o♡

  • The game looks really good. I hope that Atlus USA or someone else picks this up for localization as I would gladly delve into this world.
