This Amazing Spider-Man Unlockable Costume Looks Kinda Creepy

By Ishaan . June 20, 2012 . 12:01pm

Like previous Spider-Man games, The Amazing Spider-Man will have extra costumes to unlock. Beenox revealed one of these this week:

Wondering what that is? Marvel say it’s “Spider-Morphosis” from The Amazing Spider-Man issue #437. In addition to this costume, Beenox also shared that you have the option play in Spider-Man’s regular costume, but without his new belt, which is specific to the movie game. Here’s a comparison:

The option to get rid of the belt will be made available after you reach Peter’s apartment. Beenox say that more unlockable costumes for the game will be revealed in the near future. Finally, they also uploaded a new clip of the Web Rush feature, which you can watch below:

    Holy Updike Batman!

  • harmonyworld

I like how they made the feet like athletic shoes.
Oh yeah…the unlockable….how to put my feelings in too words…hmm

  • omeganeko

    Thanks for the nightmares spidey.

  • I like the films costume. More than I thought I would, the gloves are awesome.

  • Shadowman

    Holy hell. That was freaky.

  • Christopher Nunes

I’m getting a Monster Spider vibe from that costume, especially the face as it reminds me of the animated Spider-Man series where Spider-Man turned into a Monster Spider with six arms and fought against The Punisher and I don’t know the name of the female Doctor who cured him but thanks to her Spider-Man returned to normal.

    Anyone else remember that?

Surprisingly I like his costume with the belt on instead of off, also I wonder if they will have the old animated Spider-Man costume look as an unlockable? And the Black Spider-Man suit, that’s my favorite costume of all!

    • Anime10121

Yep SpiderMan (along with the Xmen show) was one of my favorite cartoons as a kid. Man everything about the old shows rocked, from the corniness of the dialogue to the music and characters. Being a kid in the 90s was awesome!

And yeah Im hoping for an old Spidey costume like they did for Batman in Arkham City:)

    • That was man-spider ;]

      • Spider-Man

I’m glad there is someone who still knows about Man-Spider.

    • Göran Isacson

I too remember that! No idea if it was a storyline adapted from the comics or something unique to the cartoon though.

  • Well, now I know what costume I will never have Spidey wear. Ever.

    • Anime10121

Ikr, that thing is putrid, out of all of Spidey’s awesome costumes, THIS is one of the ones they pick?

      • Solomon_Kano

Well, it does fit with the movie…

        • Anime10121

Yeah but its so, boring and generic looking (and I honestly stopped reading the comics years ago and have no idea what story this design is from).

          • Solomon_Kano

Eh. Could be better, but I do see why they chose it. Hopefully, they’ve got some better alts lined up though.

    • thaKingRocka

      It’s filthy and disgusting.

  • Cephrien

This actually happens in the Amazing Spider Man comic book. See?

  • Loukas Stamatakis

    he looks like a batarian!

  • Solomon_Kano

That’s significantly more creepy than when he turned into a literal Spider-Man in the 90s cartoon. Ugh.

    • Internet is Crash

Is that the one where Punisher was hired to take down Spidey?

      • Spider-Man

         Yes it is! <3

        • Internet is Crash

Man I feel old. but not that old though :))

  • Guest

Why would anyone want to play as this? And why would you want Spidey without his belt? That’s like him with barefoot or something. How bout just a Peter Parker outfit and the black costume and I’m good…

    • Scrooge_McDuck

Huh. Spider-Man’s regular comic book costume doesn’t have a discernible belt; he keeps it under his costume and it weirdly doesn’t bulge. The Spider-Man from the latest movie trilogy doesn’t wear a belt at all.

You might be thinking of Batman, who is closely associated with his belt.

      • Guest

but it makes sense to have a belt because of extra web cartridges.
Last movie trilogy Spider-man of course didn’t need it because they designed him with organic web ability (which was kinda gross when you think of it….)

Now if they said preorder gets you a giant Leapardon mecha than that would be cool

        • Scrooge_McDuck

Of course? I did say that the comic book Spider-Man wears a hidden belt.

You asked why people want a beltless Spider-Man costume, then the answer is because Spider-Man costume never had a visible belt before.

Heck, every time he reloads his cartridge, he needs to pull his costume up and exposes his torso. That’s how hidden his belt is; it’s never a part of his outer appearance.

        • yoUNg_grOUp568

i think the belt is just for show, since the people at  beenox said he doesn’t need to reload his web shooters they just put it for show

  • Victoria [Rokuso3]

I see! So Ctulhu meets Spider man.

  • aoihana

Oh, wow, this costume is just plain disgusting! I think it’s a great detailed effort, but it’s not for me. It looks like Spider-Man has a serious bacterial infection, or something. (*≧m≦*)

  • Jack Oz

Spiderman a cashcow since the third movie as always.

  • ToshiChan

Well, I’m significantly more terrified of Spider-man now.

  • haqua

Am I the only one who likes the Spider-Morphosis costume? I mean, I wouldn’t use it all the time, but I still think it looks cool! I guess I just have strange taste.

    • CrimsonalCore

Nah, you’re not the only one, I think this looks really awesome, though. :3

By the way, what is that on your icon? o.o

      • haqua

Good! So other people have nice weird taste like I do!

And it’s just Miku Hatsune with a gasmask on. Although after staring at her, she starts to look like some sort of creature…
