Fire Emblem: Awakening Coming To North America In 2013

By Ishaan . June 21, 2012 . 9:17pm

Nintendo of America have confirmed that Fire Emblem: Awakening will be released in North America sometime in 2013. No further details were announced, other than that downloadable content for the game will be available. Note that “Fire Emblem: Awakening” is not the game’s official U.S. title.

I oh so loved how the guy said that Fire Emblem 3DS was announced at E3 when they know damn well that it wasn’t.

Reggie got caught slippin and told some journalist guy by accident.

    You ain’t fooling me Nintendo.

    • Anime10121

I was laughing at the same thing.  The guy just casually says “The Fire Emblem game we announced back at E3” when there was no mention at E3, Reggie slipped and told a journalist who informed the world, so they then announce it via Twitter.  Funny as all heck :)

      • M’iau M’iaut

Gotta cover the bosses a*s dontcha know?

      • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

REggienator body was not ready that time lol.^^

    • Hraesvelgr

Technically, it happened at E3, so it was announced at E3, but sure, probably just covering for that flub.

  • XYZ_JolteonZ980

Well that is just plain baffling that they even announced it just a few weeks ago if its a sometime in 2013 release. I wonder if they have even started on it. These early announcements are killer.

    • Phlo

It’s pretty obvious that Reggie announced it by mistake at E3.

      • kylehyde

Or maybe by desperation when he saw that they really dropped the ball.

      • puchinri

Well, it sounded like he mentioned it to one person who went on to mention it to the internet, which means everyone knows. So, yeah, kind of a mistake. And to me, they have to confirm it with everyone really questioning now. (Well, and here it is confirmed-confirmed.)

      • Levin_Scorpius

From what I heard, Awakening ‘was’ apparently supposed to be in the press materials or something, but Nintendo literally forget to put them in there.

    • Levin_Scorpius

The 2013 release is probably because the need to rewrite/change/redraw/ect. Nono and all of the horrible creepy things that exist with her.

They could also be altering/adding different things to the game like they did with Radiant Dawn (but to a much larger degree maybe).

  • Ben Sylvia

    *eye twitch*

I’ll be in my corner, crying myself to sleep.

  • aoihana

It’s a long wait, but it’ll be worth it, I’m sure! Again, happy that fans overseas will be able to enjoy the game! A long wait I’m sure, but in the mean time enjoy the weekly virtual console releases starting in July, and all the other awesome bound for the west! (◕‿◕✿)

  • kylehyde

Well is good to see a more formal presention of this game. Certainly the wait is going to be long, but is going to be worthy.

  • 2013 >_> Baka! Oh well. -sigh-

  • *sigh*

Oh well, at least it’s coming. I hope that new 3DS XL is out in NA before then, so I can enjoy Fire Emblem on a nice large screen. ^_^

    • Solomon_Kano

We get the XL in August.

      • I was literally right on the article that said that when I got your reply. XD

Well, now I know what one of my Christmas gifts will be, LOL!

        • Solomon_Kano

I need KH3D, so I won’t be waiting that long. Would definitely save my wallet though. CURSE YOU FARAWAY CHRISTMAS!

          • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Speaking of Christmas…………. why the hell suddenly i thought of the Grinch here.^^

  • kool_cid414

I like how they said they announced it at e3 when it wasn’t that simple…

  • Solomon_Kano

  • Arrei

So that’s why it wasn’t at E3. Guess that really was a slip of the tongue, then.

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

With this, all the complain about there are no chance this game coming here to U.S is solved.^^

I claim 2013 as the year of RNG now!!!!^^

  • ParaChomp

At least we have our Christmas monies…unless 2012 happens!  Do I think it will happen, no, it’s just a bunch of lunatics.

    • puchinri

Actually, it’s already been disproven. They found the rest of the stuff they based that on, and the world didn’t end there at all. It kept going. x’D

So, yeah, 2012 is not happening~.

  • pgover

Well on one hand I’m little disappointed that it’s not coming this year… but on the other hand, A LOT of games I’m looking to get are coming in the Fall/Winter portion of this year so I guess it’s alright that I don’t have to worry about it till next year.

  • SetzerGabbiani

That’s reasonable.  The amount of text in a FE game is absolutely massive.  It’s going to take a decent localization team some serious time to get through it all.  Not to mention voice acting…if they even include it.

    • Ben Sylvia

Crap, forgot about the voice acting :

      • Oltheros

Oh boy….we’re in for a real quality English dub, aren’t we?

        • If they can put it up to Kid Icarus and Spirit Camera standards, we’ll be fine.

        • cj_iwakura

The Fire Emblem GC/Wii games had great dubs, so, yes.

          • Levin_Scorpius

For the most part I agree with you, but Mist and Rolf in Radiant Dawn’s cutscene that consumed the game’s budget, and young Ike in Radiant Dawn’s one flashback aren’t exactly “great” by any stretch of the word. They are very… mismatched, to say the least.

    •  Not to mention how big the support system is in this one. I guess there’s must be a lot of text just for the support conversation.

  • 2013? From the comments below, I can understand, I’m patient enough to wait. But it just makes me think about when the NA gets a confirmed date, when the European one will be released.

    • The game has a 2012 TBH release date right now, according to wikipedia. Which would mean we’re getting this game ahead of the US….makes no sense imo, since again they’re translating the game to english and prolly into spanish, italian, french and german and the game could be easily released in both territories at the same time.

Not that I’m complaining, I want this game asap :D

      • At the time of updating Wikipedia, that was the correct release window, even for NA. Since more info has been released and the game, even from previous instalments, is text heavy. And as you said, EU have many countries where English isn’t their first language, or if it is spoken at all. I hope that since the confirmation for PAL was made much earlier than NA that the game will be released not too far off the NA release date.

Me too, man! I really want this game asap. :D On a brighter note, Tales of Graces f, One Piece, Theatrhythm, Gravity Rush, KH3D, etc will keep us busy from now to then. Also, 2013 has Ni no Kuni and all those NIS games, too, to herald in the new year. I love gaming.

      •  My best guess is NOA’s doing their own translation and so is NOE….

I really hope that isn’t the case, since I loved Xenoblade’s dub.

      • keithmaxx

Well I won’t trust wikipedia on pending release dates, as it’s prone to editing. Going by word from Nintendo it’ll still be for 2013.

At any rate, I’m feeling that it’s a Nintendo-packed gaming madness this coming holiday 2012, and I’m certainly not complaining!

Now if only I could fit my Wii U budget somewhere in there…

  • Just glad it is coming.

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Well the time taken here is not suprising lol considering, FE series has a massive text to translate here and not to forget this time, they will also need to dub almost all the char there.(I don’t know whether the DLC story char will also be dub though?)

Which is probably the main reason why the long wait for us here.^^

Well a good time to prepare both my wallet and body for RNG goddess here.^^

  • KingGunblader

2013 is better than never that’s for sure!

  • I’m okay with 2013. Gives me time to save up and actually buy a 3DS, since I didn’t have a reason to buy it at the moment.

  • neetyneety

Well, disappointed as I am, I can bear the wait. If it means that the end product will have the usual Nintendo-level of quality, it’s fine by me.

  • Well this is going to be interesting.

  • Equus

Well this is good news for me.  This will probably get me to finally buy a 3DS.

  • YoshEE

Sweet, can’t wait to get them, but 2013 seem so long lol.

  • Sardorim

I’ll take an overseas release, it’s better than waiting for nothing. Like the Super Robot Wars series… Love the games to death but they wont ever come to the West again sadly.

  • Levin_Scorpius

Dates are good. Dates mean something is supposed to be actually happening! Something happening means more money to be siphoned out of my wallet! The delicious flood of +1s shall continue in earnest!

I guess I could get overly wishful and hope the extra localization time will add same sex romances, but that’s probably most definitely not gonna happen sadly, so oh well.
