Master of Darkness, Game Gear’s Take On Castlevania, Headed To 3DS Virtual Console

Japan gets another Game Gear title on the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console next week—Master of Darkness, a platformer reminiscent of Castlevania, but published by Sega. Similar to Castlevania, you get weapons and sub-weapons to use in combat. Sub-weapons in Master of Darkness tend to be ranged weapons like pistols with limited ammunition.

Also similar to Castlevania is who you’re after. Master of Darkness has you play as a paranormal investigator named Dr. Social, searching for Dracula, who’s behind a series of London murders. The game will be released on June 27th.

  • Amazing, Nintendo is giving the 3DS users sum game gear loving with the eshop releases every week. The system had tons of interesting games back when. Being able to relive these classics on a much lighter, smaller system that doesn’t eat six AA batteries in ten minutes is amazing :D

    I miss the game gear!

  • Got all worked up but then I took a Japan to the knee =(
