Rainbow Moon’s Battle System And Skills Demonstrated In Developer Diary

PlayStation Network strategy RPG, Rainbow Moon, has a release date—it will be available for download on July 10th for $15 on the PlayStation 3. If you happen to be a PlayStation Plus subscriber, you’ll be able to buy the game for $12, for the first two weeks after its release.

As previously reported, Rainbow Moon has random encounters, but these are entirely optional. For character growth, aside from experience, you’ll earn Rainbow Pearls from taking part in battles. These are used to increase your stats. Meanwhile, skills are levelled up through frequent use. You can watch a developer diary on Rainbow Moon’s battle system above.

It absolutely is a jRPG. Japanese-style RPG.

By jRPG, I’m assuming you mean “made in Japan/developed by a Japanese studio.”

  • I got a Disgaea and Fire Emblem (miinus permadeath) vibe from this game. What caught my eye, but didn’t understand until now was the ‘optional random battle encounter’. I found that to very interesting especially in games where enemies appear on the field with characters.

  • Battle system looks like Arc the Lad.

cool! I wanna try this game out!

Eeeee can’t wait! Summer’s gonna be great! I’ve got Theatrhythm, Rainbow Moon, and Persona 4 Arena to look forward to. :D!

  • Wow, I hadn’t heard much about this game until now. And I’m quite impressed! It looks like a mixture of classic RPGs with an aesthetic of SaGa Frontier. The music that was playing in the background was awesome! Looks like I’ll be getting this.
