Nintendo To Hold Discount Sale On Nintendo eShop Each Week

By Ishaan . June 26, 2012 . 11:30am

Last week, Nintendo made Super Mario Land, the first Mario title for the Game Boy, available at a discount on the Nintendo eShop in North America. While the game’s regular price is $4, last week, it was on sale for $3 instead.

Bummed that you missed out on the deal? Don’t worry, you may have something else to look forward to in the near future.

Nintendo of America say that, from now on, they’ll be holding a discount sale on the Nintendo eShop every week. Each week, a different Nintendo 3DS game will be available at a discounted price.

Meanwhile, Nintendo of Europe are running their own discount sale until June 28th, and then a second sale until July 5th. Here’s the lowdown on that:

From June 22nd – June 28th:

Zen Pinball 3D
Let’s Golf! 3D
The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening DX
Super Mario Land

From June 28th – July 5th:

Dillon’s Rolling Western
Freakyforms Your Creations, Alive!
Fun! Fun! Minigolf TOUCH!
Mighty Switch Force!
Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins

Note that it’s entirely possible that Nintendo of America’s discount weekly sales will be more or less the same as Europe’s, but stretched out over a period of several weeks.

I hate you, now you made me want to play Super Mario Land again.

*dusts off his old fat Game Boy*

Ooh, so gonna keep an eye out for sales of Mighty Switch Force, that game looks totally bananas-awesome.

I’m in the same boat.  The game got pretty good reviews, the music was available for listening on and that was really good, and then it got extended for free!  Soon as it goes on sale I’ll make a purchase.

I could also be enticed into trying Dillon’s Rolling Western if the price is right…

Well, I already bought 7 out of those 10 games… Oh well, if people buy them, that’s great. Would love to see more games like Pushmo/Pullblox, Dillon’s, and Mighty Switch Force. Oh and of course more awesome GB games.

I was hoping the eShop sale would be in other regions, so I’m glad that it is! There’s a 20% sale on the Japanese eShop, and some nice titles like Simple DL Series, Denpa Ningen no RPG, Hirai Sakura Samurai. Nice selection, I think! (◕‿◕✿)

This is a pretty good reason for me to pick up Zelda and Mario. I still wish they would just throw GBA games on there it surely can’t be that hard. Or you know, put Pokemon on the VC, that could always be a good idea.

  • A little late to get on the whole Steam sale bandwagon, ain’t it? Oh well, better late than never.

Aww. I bought most of these already here.T_T

But well, hope that people willd be able to enjoy dylon as I really enjoy them there.

Freakyforms is also kind of fun there.^^

Glad to see Nintendo finally jumping onto the digital deal train. I’ve taken advantage of many deals on my 360 & PS3, so I hope to do the same for my 3DS.

I was thinking about buying Mighty Switch Force, and this discount finally convinced me to purchase it. (This, and the free update as well)
Moreover, I checked the soundtrack and it is excellent!

There’s still a long way to go before reaching Steam’s influence and effectiveness in this field, but Ninty is improving at least. I seriously never expected the prices to be cut like that, especially coming from the firm that still sells Super Mario 64 DS (A launch title + a port of a N64 game) at full price. O_o
