Tales of Xillia 2 Event Scenes With Elle, Ludger, And His Cat

By Ishaan . June 26, 2012 . 9:00am

Namco Bandai have released three new event scenes from Tales of Xillia 2 via Famitsu.com, showing interaction between the game’s protagonist, Ludger, the 8-year-old heroine, Elle, and Ludger’s cat, Lulu, from an early part of the game. Some of this footage is old, but you can watch it below:

Tales of Xillia 2 takes place one year after the original Tales of Xillia. The game includes branching story paths where you have to choose between two decisions by pressing the L1 or R1 buttons. Depending on your choice, events can play out very differently.

Namco will release Tales of Xillia 2 in Japan sometime this winter.

Just take my money already dammit!
Also, Ludger needs to get in my bed, like now!

  • Enma_Kozato

    Dat fat cat.

  • ZEROthefirst

I’m throwing my wallet at the monitor but nothing’s happening T_T

    • Luna Kazemaru

      Need more SCV’s

    •  Try dollar bills.

      • ZEROthefirst

Dollar bills and a credit card are in my Gundam Wallet, maybe it will work if I put some coins in the coin pouch and throw it harder.

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Lol no matter what other said, i am really hyped with this game lol.^^

  • Jonathan Keycross

“All right, father. I´m here, please just wait a bit more. I´ll reach Canaan and…Oh a kitty!”

It´s interesting that you not only get to choose what one character decides to do but also how the other one answers. At least that´s what I understood from the second video.

    • lol that sounds just like me. I’ll get distracted by a kitty any day.

      • Radiosity

Kitteh = awesome, the end. Anyone NOT being distracted by a kitteh has something wrong with them :D

  • Darkrise

Odd, I’m sure Ludger spoke in the trailer.

  • Speedo Redempteur

When you’re lost in a big city , ask a nearby cat , you know.. you might get lucky

  • riceisnice

    I don’t like Elle.

    • There must be something wrong with your eyes then =P

    • xavier axol

i like her, but i think for her to be the main heroine is just wrong. she is 8 years old for crying out loud, put a female that the tales serie deserves.

      •  I guess namco just trying to go with whatever the market in japan want. If you know what I mean.

  • davidvinc

This is looking more and more like Tales of Symphonia 2. A boy, a girl, and a dog.

5 years later its a boy, a girl and a cat.

    • LightZero

Sigh, this is a mothership title just like Tales of Destiny 2 (the real one). ToS2 is a spin-off sequel. Tales of Graces (Wii) first trailer didn’t show party members either but we know how turn that out. So stop worrying about it.

  • DanteJones

Hmm, not sure I like the idea of having to babysit a kid the whole game, but we’ll see how it goes I guess.

  • Game looks good, and that’s a fat cat lol

  • akiko_sakuraba

I knew it. This game takes place in Elympios.

  • Göran Isacson

… I now imagine Elle growing up to be as pudgy as Lulu, because Ludger is TERRIBLE at saying no to tiny cute things asking him for sweets/food/whatever. That is to say if they even hang around each other for that long, guess we’ll just have to see how the game develops…

  • Clearly Lulu is destined for greatness, and will one day be upgraded to co-protagonist.

  • Learii

Ludger never talk in the game?

  • epy

So Ludger is an almost silent protagonist that is either somewhat of an ass or a nice guy but still ends up “saying” the same thing? Don’t know if like. I rather have a regular cutscene.

  • Arrei

I doubt he’ll be a totally silent protagonist. This shows us he won’t speak during the choices, but if he didn’t speak at all, how would skits work? And I can’t imagine them making us choose a response every time he speaks, either…

    But, who knows?

Maybe he’ll be like Link, and all his lines in skits will be

    “I see, that’s a good point.”
    “No, that’s too risky.”

  • Silent protagonist?? 0_0

  • Alphabet Soup

Interesting.  Not only does the protagonist seem to be of little words, but this game has a significantly smaller cast than most Tales games. As many people already mentioned, this will make the skits a bit…dry.  I’m curious to see where they go with the game – I’m excited for the decision system – but I want that integrated with my favorite thing about Tales games – character interaction!

    • Arrei

It’s more like we have no idea who else is going to be in the cast. Thus far, we know: Ludger fights, Elle does not, Lulu is adorable and fat, a man in the trailer may be Ludger’s brother, there’s some black-haired man in a pinkish-red suit, and some of the VAs of characters from Xillia are confirmed to be returning. It’s possible the entire old party will return, or maybe some of them will be Ludger’s adversaries, or maybe we’ll get entirely new playable characters, or some mix of the two.

  • Is the cat going to be a part of what appears to be a relatively small cast for this Tales game? Jokes aside, I think it’s a nice implementation of choices during those cutscenes. It’s nothing new overall, but for the Tales series, yes. Still, I’d like to see more things from this title before passing judgement.

  • Pretty sure @SuigetsuHiramura and @Nyandroid will fan girling over the cat *Check comments* Where R them!?

  • Radiosity

For anyone interested, it’s now confirmed that Alvin and Leia from the first game are in as playables with new costumes. And the release date is 1st November.

  • Steven Higgins

Anyone else notice that Elle looks EXACTLY like Amy from Burst Angel?

  • Radiosity

    There’s a similarity, certainly. Though Elle’s wardrobe is a little more… sedate ;)
