It’s A Real Warlord Party In This Sengoku Basara HD Collection Trailer

By Ishaan . July 1, 2012 . 10:32am

August 30th is a big day for games in Japan. Hatsune Miku Project Diva f, Senran Kagura Burst, Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers and others will all be released on that same day, making for a crowded release list. Joining them will be Sengoku Basara HD Collection, which includes Sengoku Basara, Sengoku Basara 2 and Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes on the disc. You can watch a new trailer for it below:

Sengoku Basara HD Collection will also include a promotional anime for E.X. Troopers, produced by anime studio Satelight. That game will be released sometime this year as well.

I can’t wait not to play this in english.

    • Brandonmkii

There’s plenty of english! If you play Date, anyway.

      • kroufonz

         you mean badass engrish

  • MrKappa

    Man did that look awesome.
However because of Capcom’s crappy business mind they won’t even think to release this game because it won’t sell 1 million copies in 1 week… meanwhile DmC is stilling coming out.

    • God, you’re right. I can’t believe they want to make money, those rapscallions! Shameful, I tell you.

      • N M

Yeah.  It’s not like there’s some sort of service on the PS3 that allows people to buy games and download them onto their systems that greatly reduces a publisher’s costs and increases profits.  Oh, wait …

        • Oh hey, what do you know! Okami HD is being released like that!

Seriously, though. My point is, when it’s possible and viable, they make it happen.

      • MrKappa

Come on now, I know you are purposely missing the point here. Especially since you claim they want to make money and yet… DmC still exist.

        • DmC is going to make money. Lots of it. If you think it isn’t, you’re sadly mistaken.

          • MrKappa

A lot of people said the same thing about NG3 and look where that is.

Gotta admit though, you’re part of the few to even think it will make a lot of money but hey, if DmC really does meet Capcom’s 2 million sales mark then I’ll eat my hat.

          • Well, the problem with NG3 is a few things, IMO:

            1. Tecmo Koei aren’t a publisher of the same scale as Capcom.

            2. NG3 was almost unanimously called out for being a problematic game, even during early previews, while DmC is actually receiving good press.

            3. The core creative staff that made Ninja Gaiden 1 and 2 good didn’t work on NG3, whereas in the case of DmC, the core Devil May Cry staff are overseeing the game very closely.

I really do believe that DmC will be a success for Capcom, all said and done. They’re putting a lot of care into it, and unlike Team Ninja, they seem to have set a clear goal from the very start of the project. That can make a big difference, you know?

          • Domii

DmC will not make them money, IT WILL MAKE THEM DROWN IN CASH!! If you think DmC won’t sell millions especially with all the publicity it has gotten, then you dont know a thing about business.

          • Guest

imo it’s a toss up. I really dont know if it will actually sell as well as you say at this point. Imo it can go def either way

      • Chippel

Just because there’s a reason, doesn’t mean you can’t be disappointed. Sometimes, it takes a little persistence for something to be successful and sometimes, it never is. Maybe it’s more reasonable to be angry at the cost to localize rather than the companies, but then we all love those risk-takers like Atlus and XSeed and wish the bigger companies could throw us a bone once in a while. I don’t think that’s too terrible a desire.

        • Sure, no one says you can’t be disappointed. Just that there’s a way to express disappointment without sounding rude or ignorant. And I would argue that the big companies do throw us a bone, especially Capcom.

Asura’s Wrath is pretty crazy. So is Dragon’s Dogma. So was Okamiden, the Okami port on Wii, and Okami HD on PS3. They’ve thrown plenty of bones, IMO.

Still….strange how Dynasty Warriors franchise can enjoy success in the West while Basara can barely scratch the surface given how its so similar. I feel…Capcom barely promoted it enough to give it a fighting chance. Most in the West dont even know the games came out here

This looks pretty damn nice…..I think it’ll be an instant day one for me…IF capcom releases it here wich is a toss up I guess

  • Added to import list.

And…… my wallet just let out a ghastly wail.

    • Testsubject909

So that’s what I heard two days ago.

Huh. I was wondering what was that sound of a thousand possibly leathery deaths.

  • SirRichard

Weren’t these games already on the PS3? Or was that just one of them? Just wondering if the “HD” part of the collection title is necessary, is all.

If nothing else, I see Capcom are getting into the habit of putting promotional stuff into their releases (Dragon’s Dogma with the early RE6 demo access, for instance, that had to have shifted a few copies). Seems like it could be a good move.

    • Brandonmkii

All three of these games have only been on ps2. Sengoku Basara 3 and Sengoku Basara 3 UTAGE were the only ps3 releases.

  • Has there been any word of an English Release? I bought Samurai Heroes last year and I wasn’t interested in this at first, but after watching the trailer, I’m pretty keen on it now.

    • Pretty much 0% chance of coming over.

      • KuroiKen

Yep, Capcom officially stated that Sengoku Basara is dead for the west. Well, I’m actually glad. No more my friends will joke with linking youtube videos of dubbed SB they hate no less then me.

  • Michael Connell

Please let us have this Capcom…or I’ll just import it

  • pothier.adrien

    PUT YA GUNS ON !!!

    • keithmaxx

LOL! I was actually waiting for Sanada to come in…

  • Brandonmkii

Aw man, I really miss playing as Toyotomi and Nagamasa. Maybe they’ll eventually do some kind of dream game where every character that’s ever been is playable. Sorin/Zabi tag team sounds awesome.

  • kroufonz

thinking of getting this the ps2 basara game are much better than the ps3/wii SB3 imo.

  • KuroiKen

Importing this. The asia version is just 45$, not that expensive(well, considering usual titles are 75$ for me). SB2 Heroes in HD is a dream come true.

  • I actually wouldn’t mind this.  Kinda okay with just tracking down the PS2 Basara game as well.

  • rebecasunao

I have a PS2 but not a PS3, so I’ll have to pass this HD collection. Too bad, it looks really nice.

  • Enma_Kozato

Good lord, Toshiie, I don’t need a full frontal assault of your fundoshi (/_;)

The disillusioned fanboy in me wants to believe Capcom USA will turn around and go “Surprise! Digital download for NA! We’re sorry we can be jerks at times.” Haha… ha.

  • I totally have to import this since Capcom is pretty adamant about not releasing any more SB games in English. *adds to her list of stuffies to buy~*

lol, Date Masamune’s “The One-Eyed Dragon is not just for show, you see?” line reminds me of the Sengoku BASARA FES 2010’s “This is a pen… You see??” XD

  • Göran Isacson

Even if my only experience with this series comes from Devil Kings and the anime, I still think that Nobunaga Oda and Nohime are the BOSS-EST of couples in all of anime. And if you want to argue, welp. I’m not the one going up against Norio Wakamoto and a lady that hides miniguns that she can dualwield underneath her skirt.

Oh my god I get a little tingly in my pants just typing that. Dual-wielding miniguns.

Shame that not enough people wanted the games, but honestly I’m just glad that this series exists in all it’s crazy glory in the first place.
