Mario Tennis (N64) And Electroplankton Are New Club Nintendo Rewards

By Ishaan . July 1, 2012 . 3:00pm

Club Nintendo in North America have put up two new downloadable game rewards for the month of July. Electroplankton for DSiWare (100 coins) and the Nintendo 64 Mario Tennis for Wii Virtual Console (150 coins).

The catch is that neither game be available all the way to the end of the month.

Electroplankton is available as a reward until July 15th, while Mario Tennis will be available until July 22nd. Perhaps we’ll see new game rewards go up on those dates?

Club Nintendo have also put up a notice saying they’ll share their rewards for members who achieved Gold and Platinum status in the near future.

I was scrambling last night to enter in my codes for the year in order to qualify for at least Club Nintendo Gold status. I almost panicked when my 3DS registered but I didn’t get any coins for it.

Thankfully the rest of my games gave me enough coins and I submitted a support ticket to hopefully resolve that issue.

I ended up having to order a Classic Super Mario T-Shirt since a bunch of my coins were going to expire the next day (today). I kinda wish they had Mario Tennis available yesterday so I could have spent the expiring coins without using too many of my other coins.

I wonder what the Gold & Platinum Rewards are going to be this year? (err, I guess Gold is always a calendar)

Coins do expire, I forget what the rules are on it, but you can be certain that they do.

If i remember correctly, they expire after 2 years. The reason his were going to and yours wasnt is he had his coins alot longer unused

I got the Mario T-shirt before too, it was pretty comfortable.. want to get Mario Tennis 64 too but only have 100 coins left now after getting both the Luigi and Mario cap 3DS pouches.. not sure if I could get more before 7/22..

I missed out on the Mario & gang statue one year, but got the pins last year.. looking forward to their Gold reward too :) didn’t make Platinum this year though..

    Mario Tennis is mine! :D

I highly reccomend Mario Tennis. It’s a great party game, simple; but still very deep. One of my favorite N64 games.

I really wish the European Club Nintendo was as cool as the American one :l

But you guys have the complete Operation Rainfall set. :(

      • KHSoraKeyBlade

         That is true.

Ooooo, Elektroplankton.  Not bad.  Though I’d still love to own a physical copy. =)

Hoping the Platinum reward this year is decent. I really liked the hat & statue, but the pins were sort of disappointing compared to the 2 years before that.

As for the games, I remember enjoying Mario Tennis 64 when I was younger, but I think I’ve grown to like Power Tennis more with all the additional stuff. Still, I’d say the N64 version (can’t say original since the first Mario Tennis was on Virtual Boy) is still a good game & if you’re into sports games that aren’t realistic, can’t go wrong with Mario.

If only we had the same rewards as Club Nintendo of Japan. I want a SNES Classic Controller :(

  • Shadowman

Guess I’m saving my coins then.

For those interested in electroplankton, it isn’t the entire game included. Just one part of it, specifically the rec-rec one.

      Really?  That’s BS.

Well, electroplankton is awesome.  Took me forever to track down, and I have a suspicion that the cart I got is pirated.

after redeeming the two zelda poster sets, I don’t know what to do with my coins, north american club nintendo kind of sucks but better than nothing : )

If they’re planning to do four games a month still but stagger them out out over the month and have them out for less time, I don’t see the point.
But, perhaps we’ll end up getting more games (like one a week) that lasts for only two or three weeks and it just looks weird now because they’re just starting a new release schedule and they didn’t want it to look bad by only have one game up.

Even though I still have my old N64 cartridge, Mario Tennis is pretty tempting. I had a lot of fun with that one back in the day, and for reasons I’ve never really sat down and tried to analyze the sequels never lived up to it.

Pity the Wii version doesn’t include the interconnectivity with the Mario Tennis GBC game that the original did, though. That was such a neat feature.
