Mighty Switch Force HD Headed To Wii U With Redesigned Sprites

By Ishaan . July 2, 2012 . 2:00pm

WayForward Technologies are bringing their first Nintendo 3DS game, Mighty Switch Force, to the Wii U as an eShop download. Nintendo Power magazine has the first details on Mighty Switch Force HD, along with the first screenshot:

If that looks a little different from the 3DS version of Mighty Switch Force, it’s because Mighty Switch Force HD has redrawn sprites and WayForward are brainstorming new features for it as well. Here’s a comparison of the sprites from the 3DS (left) and Wii U (right) versions:

Mighty Switch Force HD will be ready for the Wii U launch. WayForward also confirm that they’re working on more download games for the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. Other downloadable games that will be ready for the Wii U launch are listed here.

Wow and I was thinking about getting it for 3DS, now I will just wait for the wiiu version.

  • SirRichard

I was thinking of grabbing the 3DS version at some point, I just might wait and see how the Wii U’s early days pan out.

  • CirnoLakes

I have to say, I’m much more fond of that pixel art.

  • Zonic505

Oh man, that is one sexy upgrade. Already have the 3DS version, but if there’s some more content, I’ll gladly get the Wii U version.

Waiting on this  turned out to be a good idea after all!

  • SetzerGabbiani

Nice!  Was waiting for the sale, but will wait until Wii U to purchase.

  • ThatBlackGuy

But the better question is will the music be better or will it be awesome.

  • Wayforward they can do no wrong. I will definitely get this game. Just because Wayforward created it.

  • Göran Isacson

Huh… I do wonder what version would be the best to get then- this, or the 3DS version. I do like me some portable gaming after all, but this is VERY pretty…

    • Suicunesol

I suppose it just depends on what you value more– stereoscopic 3D or HD.

And I’ve heard that this game really looks nice in 3D.

  • zeta

is it just me or I like pixelated sprites on most games

    • d19xx

Because every pixel in there serves a purpose.

  • The pixel version looks better and have more details lol.

I’m getting a Wii U at some point, but man, the Wii U is nothing but ports and remakes.  Disregard everything not a port or remake, kind of like those of you who disregard any and all Vita games that aren’t ports or remakes.

    • What was the point of this post, exactly?

  • It’s a console launch. That tends to happen. *Frequently*.

  • Not digging the newer sprites. They make it look like a Flash game.

  • An HD port? Great! So why just the Wii U?

I love WayForward but it’s not worth getting a 3DS for a ten dollar game, and the Wii U is going to be no better a case.  None of my friends own the former and nobody is planning on grabbing the latter yet, either.  I’d love to play Switch Force myself, and for once be able to recommend one of the company’s games to my friends and show support like I always want to.

Guys, you brought Flip Champs to PSN.  Why stop there? :( And how has none of this stuff popped up on Steam yet?

    • WyattEpp

There’s always Bloodrayne Betrayal… (which has, as usual, a killer soundtrack.  The second half that was done in Famitracker is bloody amazing).

      • That’s because Jake Kaufman is *amazing.*

  • puchinri

Yay! I love playing MSF on my friend’s 3DS (and I’ll love playing it on my own), so it’s great that it’ll come to the Wii U as well~. Ahem, in HD, no less. Also can’t wait to see their other titles. ♥
