Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure HD Ver. Announced By Capcom For August

Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure is making a proper comeback this year with a new anime series scheduled for airing in Japan this October, and not one but two fighting games.

 

One of these is Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle, a new fighter developed by Naruto Shippduden: Ultimate Ninja Storm developer, CyberConnect 2. You can find a trailer for that game here. The other is Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure HD Ver., an HD re-release of Capcom’s 1998 fighting game, which the publisher announced at the San Diego Comic-Con this past weekend.

 

Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure HD Ver. will be upgraded with HD visuals and Capcom say the updated game will also contain online features comparable to Super Street Fighter IV and Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

 

Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure HD Ver. will be released on Xbox Live on August 21st and PlayStation Network on August 22nd for 1600 MSP and $19.99 respectively. No official screens or footage are available yet, but we’ll keep an eye out for them.

    I’m really glad that this is real and happening as a Jojo fan. My main concern is the time Capcom choose to release it. It’s in the shadows of Persona 4 Arena, Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and DOA5.

      Anyone who’s a fan of anime and fightan games will be sure to pick it up.
      As for competitive play, it’s not like it’s gonna be a complete revival for the game, just a few side-tournaments here and there.

    I own the game on CPS-3 and think lot of people has unfortunately missed this perl.

    Game features were originally very fresh and stands system brings more deepness to it.

    The game has been supervised by Haraki himself and even it is a versus fighting , fans will be happy to see tons of easter eggs and his unique style through it.

    Also this is probably the opportunity to get a perfect version since the most complete one is actually the DC Matchin Service version.

    Since it was announced in the Comic-Con, is there a chance to this to come overeseas? The original did if I’m not wrong, too bad I didn’t get the chance to play it. This will be it then!

      This is for overseas. It was announced by Capcom USA. The August date is for North America. :)

         Oh, that’s awesome then :D. I’m buying it :), though the 1600MSP seems a bit pricey…but It’s JoJo so it will be worth it.

    As much as I want to play this game, I can’t help but feel the price a bit steep. Okami I can understand, since it’s only 5 or so years old, but this game is nearly 15 years old; no matter how much polish the graphics have, $20 seems too much to ask. Heck, didn’t 3rd Strike Online go for less?

    20 bucks? Ouch. Guess we all have to pay for the licensing fees. No matter, everyone owes to themselves to experience such a original and fantastic game. It’s by far the best manga game EVER MADE! I’m not even kidding. So much attention to detail it makes me giggle with glee.

          Fighting games like Jojo among others can get pretty vast and deep.  It’s completely subjective.

      There are fans of  any game,im not one of them here to be honest but i dont think 20$ for a HD remake is to bad honestly…
      As far as it being an old game…ive spent alot of money on old games well over 100$ and still get happy to find the game I just bought is being ported/remade for another device I dont think its any different for the fans of JoJo’s im sure they are pretty stoked to get an HD version of a game they think is great/awesome and who knows at a 20$ tag it might even bring in a few more fans since its now updated and not “old”…..
      While I understand why people think it should be cheaper I dont think 20$ is a bad price all arround .

      As I always say when this sort of discussion comes up, age is not indicative of quality. If a game is damn good then let it be priced accordingly. Quality speaks for itself, and as many of the comments here seem to indicate Jojo’s quality seems to mark it worth $20 to many.

    THERE IS GOD AFTER ALL! This is so bizarre, since after playing the game on ggpo with a friend last night, I told him, “Man, how I wish they ported the game to PSN/LIVE…” A day later and I see this. Please let it have good netcode!!!

    Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure has always been one of those games i’ve wanted to at least try out, but circumstance has repeatedly screwed me over on.

    so for those who have played this one, what am I missing out on? (trans: pitch it to me based solely on gameplay).

    20 bucks is a pretty steep one, but I guess that licensing costs extra? Whatever the case may be it IS pretty sweet to see Jojo get a revival right now, and I honestly had NO idea there was an anime coming! Think I’ma check this one out when it drops, especially if it might help the West get their hands on the CyberConnect2 game… unlikely as that may be.

      Yeah, I think they had to deal with extra legal stuff considering not only did they have to get the rights to publish the game again, but they had to do so while Namco is making that new JoJo game. I can’t think of a time where two companies were making a licensed game based off the same franchise at the same time. Honestly, it’s kind of amazing this is getting a re-release. Yeah, I kind of agree it’s a bit expensive (I would’ve paid $15 gladly), but I guess it’s to make up for all the legal loopholes they had to (Shonen) jump through.

    Please let these “online feautures” not include shoddy netcode, this game needs ggpo netcode, people managed to give it that for free before so for the price they are asking Capcom has no excuse not to use it.

            @Exkaiser:disqus @Istillduno:disqus @Asura:disqus Oh I know it uses GGPO, but there is something not right with it’s online, I’ve played it quiet regularly with a friend, and you can check around it’s not just me. My guess is the way it automatically selects the delay unlike Skullgirls. Because often in matches particularly if both characters are full screen, you get a very distracting “hop” where the character will flick from one position to another, with no frames, extremely annoying.

            On top of that a lot of issues like getting multiple win soundclips played when at low health opo; At least from my personal experience the online for 3rd Strike, something’s not right. Online does have “less” input lag then SSF4, and other Capcom fighters, but the distracting visual quirks are just as damaging. Skullgirls used GGPO and it works just fine… so I get a feeling it’s other factors.

            While 3S Online did use GGPO, the company that ported it (can’t even remember the name.) apparently did a shoddy job of implementing it, thus still creating a terrible experience. At least this is what I can gather from TechTalk peeps and the like.

            I think the hope here is that not only would Jojo’s use GGPO, but that it would also be implemented by a capable software team so that the netcode is indeed “flawless”*. * Or as close as we can get on net capable fighting games.

           The way SFIV and MvC3′s netcode works is delaying your inputs while the video being kept smooth is a priority, leading people who never try to combo/block/react to anything to believe it is lagless and the best netcode ever.

          GGPO on the other hand sometimes has issues with frames skipping/rollback/ect. on a bad connection but when you press a button or direction it is pressed when you press it, leaving the gameplay itself a lot smoother and if you do prefer the input delay for whatever reason, you can set it to use that on your end.

            That’s why in Skullgirls you can set your buffer frame from 0 to 5 to deal with differing connections.

    $20 is too much for a digital port of a fighting game.  I’ll go for $15, but for $20, forget it.  Skullgirls was only $15 and that game was amazing.

    Finally I got to log in.  Now then, as someone who play the hell out of the PS1 version of the game with my brothers even when we understood little English this is something I’m looking for. This and the CC2 games are a sure addition to my game collection.

    If they can make the game close to the arcade like the Dreamcast version and add the story plus other new things like they did for SFIII:TS like unlocking art, sketches, moves, etc this would be even better. But if they include the PS1 stuff that would be nice also. There were a lot of mini games that could be unlocked once you beat them in the story mode (Hyerophan Green and and Silver Chariot ShmUp was one of my favorites)
