Persona 4: Arena Getting Manga Series Next Month

By Ishaan . July 24, 2012 . 10:30am

Persona 4: Arena is getting a manga series, Atlus announced on the game’s blog today. The manga will make its debut in issue #10 of the Persona Magazine, which will be published on August 7th in Japan.

While the manga will follow the same story as the videogame version of Persona 4: Arena, Atlus say that the manga series will differ slightly from the game in that it will focus more on making an impact with the the story and tension.

The Persona 4: Arena manga will be illustrated by Aiya Kyu (Code Age, Antimagia).

  • WHAT.
At this point, Persona 4 is reaching

    • Nitraion

      *wearing glases* O_o

    • LynxAmali

I stand by my point that we haven’t gotten Total Media Saturation until we get a third person shooter, p4 style and a strategy RPG.

    • Luna Kazemaru

Wesker is some how behind this I know it.

  • Persona 4’s over-saturation is being over-saturated.
They’ve milked this cow dry, killed it, and are now trying to sell us the meat.

    • Luna Kazemaru

       And the meat is spoiled.

      • xavier axol

Mmmmm now that’s how i like my meat (spoiled and rotten). it gives the meat that awesome flavor.

  • Luna Kazemaru

Never going to let P4 go are you atlus.

    • cj_iwakura

Not as long as it makes money. Persona 2 sure didn’t.

And I’m okay with this. Are we getting anything poor quality out of the deal? Not that I’m aware of. The anime was great, Golden looks ridiculous(in a good way, so much added content), Arena will dominate my very existence.

      • Luna Kazemaru

I wasn’t really being negative with it lol. I’m just saying they might want to let go soon or people will start to get bored with it. Also Area made me want to put BB on the side lines atleast to 3 comes out now that’s saying something there.

      • Dantis

        “Golden looks ridiculous”

It’s really not that much extra…

        • I don’t know dude, I was pretty overwhelmed by all the changes and extra content. It’s not just a few costumes, a new social link, a few gameplay changes and minor tweaks. I honestly think it’s enough to be like 2 expansion packs.

          • Dantis

I’ve played through it. The only thing you missed out was the new dungeon and the ski trip.

          • cj_iwakura

There’s also Adachi’s social link, which is a pretty huge addition IMO, and a ton of new skills(which sadly make the game even easier as I understand it). Isn’t there also a new epilogue and ending w/ Adachi?

          • Brandon

In addition to what CJ said, there’s also the fact that it’s, y’know, portable.

        • I’m sort of in the same boat. Persona 3 Portable added a whole second playthrough with a different character. In comparison, P4G just looks like a slight expansion with a few easy additions. Just my opinion, but it doesn’t make me want to play through all 60-80 hours of the game again.

          • Dantis

Mhmm. I imported it because I’m impatient, and it ended up costing me a fortune, and it really is just Persona 4 with a completely irrelevant side-dungeon and a couple of fan-service scenes.

Obviously, I have no problem with people enjoying what’s there, but it seems somewhat deceptive to me when some people are acting as if this is Persona 4 plus a sequel. Two expansion packs? Ridiculous amount of content?

Some people are setting themselves (And others, unfortunately) up for a big disappointment, I think.

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

milking the heck of of P4 geeez

  • Nitraion

    I guess P3 & P4 will be cannon for P5? haha?

  • Ooh Bee

    LOL Of course it is.

    • ShawnOtakuSomething

seen that coming from a far

  • XYZ_JolteonZ980

Im guessing this is a monthly manga?

  • Wow, ok that’s beyond good o___O
    Whats going on over there?!?

    Atlus has enough to do:

    LEGO Persona 4
    Persona 4 Opera
    Persona 4 Concerts
    Persona 4 Vocaloids
    Persona 4 Shooter
    Persona 4 Amusement Park
    Persona 4 Festival
    Persona 4 3D-Movie
    Persona 4 Chess
    Persona 4: Persona 5
    Persona 4 Alcohol
    Persona 4 Cigarettes
    Persona 4 Dating Platform
Persona 4 Porn – geez that sounds good xD
    Persona 4 Social Network
    Persona 4 Radio
    Persona 4 Telenovela
    Persona 4 Console
    Persona 4 Handheld

I’m a fan of Persona 3 Portable, I’m waiting for Persona 4: The golden, but this is insane…

    •  You may want to check Perofella out. Just to cross out Persona 4 Porn.

      • I wonder if that’s officially licensed :P

        •  It’s not… I saw the movie… it’s sloooooow…

          •  Just like the Persona games!

            I’ll be leaving now

      • DeAndre Atchison

but those who see it cannot unsee it

    • Persona 4 on ice.

    • FitzpatrickPhillips

      >Persona 4: Persona 5

      Oh god I lost it

      • That one made me laugh, too, hahaha.

      • raymk

        Damn lol.

    • Tom_Phoenix

Atlus has made all sorts of Persona 4-related products. By this point, they’ve got…

    • DeAndre Atchison

      i would so play persona 4 chess…

    • Persona 4: Shin Megami Tensei IV

    •  I…I don’t know how to say this without coming off as one weird fella, but I’ll say it anyway:

There’s Persona 4 themed porn on the internet. Not official off course, but…yeah.

And I swear I didn’t find it by myself, a friend showed it to me. I swear lol really. I know no one will believe me, but yeah :3

      • DeAndre Atchison

        i dont believe you
        unless you went to sankaku

        •  LOL I didn’t. But I swear, t’was a friend of mine who’s also into Persona who sent me the link as a joke, and yeah, I was shocked, lol.

    • You can tick Persona 4 Radio (radio dramas), Persona 4 porn (not official, of course), and Persona 4 Concerts (these happen every year) off that list.

      • cj_iwakura

There is a theater show, so… maybe cross off Opera? (I wish.)

  • Dantis

The other manga guy (Shuji Sogabe) was much better at drawing. That hand looks really janky.

    • amagidyne

       Can’t unsee. :(

  • Atlus announces an exciting adaption of their highly anticipated video game and their fanbase responds with a resounding “Meh.”

  • Lunar_Outcast

    Milk it dry, Atlus.

  • Well looks lk another round of whining is here.

Tht aside the artstyle is actually kinda not bad……. for the illustration so far anyway.

  • FitzpatrickPhillips

    H-Hey guys…remember Persona 3? A-Anyone?

    Just me?

    • Ooh Bee

Wait, there was a Persona 3?

    • What the hell is “3”?? We all know that after 2 comes 4…pff~

    • amagidyne

Yeah, that game didn’t get any spin-offs or re-releases. They totally neglected it. Not a single measly yen milked from that one.

    • OatMatadoQuatro

It got a manga, a rerelease that includes a new sequel, a PSP remake, appearances in Arena and now it will get an anime film. Atlus sure didn’t forget it, but the web did it

  • DeAndre Atchison

    there is already a manga

  • DeAndre Atchison
    • PurpleDoom

That’s for the original Persona 4. This is for the Persona 4: Arena spinoff. Different story.

      • DeAndre Atchison

alright i didnt see the arena part
i thought it was for persona 4 in general

  • DongT

im surprisingly more ok than i thought id be with more persona in everyway lol

  • CasualGamer

Is Atlus following the footsteps of EA or Activision? I predict next to come Persona 4 Arena: The Anime….
Personally I like P4 so I don’t mind. Think of it as more money to be put into P5 development.

  •  … You know… I’m not excited about new things like this anymore… stop with Persona, keep on with Shin Megami Tensei!

  • Hoshi星

Will the manga be region-locked? oh wait, it’s not a game.

That aside, Atlus milking P4 to the death :o

  • I still have yet to play this game as it’s just laying unopen in my room somewhere. Someday I hope that the other entries in the series gets as much love. Maybe like, the main series…..?

  • ryne11

Hopefully it is better than the Persona 4 Manga

  • Koulamatata

I can’t really blame them for milking it. Persona is Atlus’ biggest mainstream success throughout multiple regions.

That being said… if you’re going to milk it, milk it with new games rather than movie/manga spinoffs and remakes.

I would love a P5 to go with the SMT4

  • Jiikae

Okay, I’ve adamantly defended Atlus on all of these milkings until now. This is overkill. If Atlus didn’t announced Shin Megami Tensei 4, I’d actually be annoyed by all of this, but whatever, they can carry on as long as the games keep coming. Arena comes out next month, and the SMT4 trailer does too. Atlus is in grace as far as I’m concerned.

    • raymk

Well atlus has always milked so I don’t think you should be to mad if it helps them put out more games.  Besides isn’t there a manga to just about everything japan makes?

  • …..mhm. I’m still waiting for Junes-themed malls to start popping up. It’s only a matter of time.

  • TheFoolArcana

Once again, I’ll be ignoring everything except the games.

    • EXACTLY.  In the words of our lord and savior Mr Jay-Z,

“Oh, you’re not feelin’ me?  Fine.  Cost you nothin’, pay me no mind”

Just play vanilla Persona 4 and don’t pay attention to the rest of the P4 media if it bothers you that much.

  • TheInternetNomad

I’m thinking persona 5 is going to be a sequel to 3/4. at the rate persona 4 is getting stuff made for itl; it would just be weird not to have 5 somehow tie in the previous 2 entries. fingers crossed for the persona 4 trading card game

  • OatMatadoQuatro

Wasn’t there a Persona 4 manga with 6 volumes? Did it finish?

I also wonder if the Protagonist will have a new name like in the manga where he was Soji Seta. I recommend ProSWAGonist! xD

    • miju

It’s following P4 Arena. His name is 99% confirmed to be Yu Narukami.

  • I think I’d read it. I grabbed a couple volumes of Dengeki to read the regular Persona 4 manga adaptation and enjoyed it. If people are willing to grab it, then good for Atlus for going for it. They deserve that kind of success.

  • Manga? Heck, make an anime adaptation as well~!
