  • Curse you, SAMPLE!

  • Jesse Thompson

You had me at NSFW. :3

  • XiaomuArisu

The first picture of the black-haired girl actually looks tastefull!

    • I’m hoping u r preparing 4 the worse if the inevitable happens…..

      • XiaomuArisu

         The worst?
        trap?pr0n?chuck norris?

        • She said something along the line of “I can nvr be a man”

          There *IS* a trap btw.

  • RaikageV

    Fanservice everywhere…
I’d prefer an artbook or soundtrack.

  • klkAlexar

How come publishers/retailers always give out fanservice to males? While they are all nice and pretty, I prefer guys. I want female fanservice!

    • Davide Costa

Yeah, where are the sexy images of the guys?

This is misoginy, f**k this game!!!! XDDDD

P.S. unless they hate feet focus, Mint’s feet  are really bird’s paws.

      • xXDGFXx

Girls are cuter. All hail cute!

        • CirnoLakes

All of the adorable traps out there, disagree with you.

And I disagree on their behalf as well.

          • xXDGFXx

Traps look like girls therefore girls are still cute!

My point still stads, both of them!

          • Davide Costa

But they’re male, therefore boys can be cute.

    • Why? It’s not like girls play video games or anything.

      • klkAlexar

        But I’m sure gays do.

      • $733987

Well., most girls are not into 2D boys. Those that are into 2D are always into BL. For example, look at your avatar pic. I have a feeling she imagines both of the guys in her club doing overly intimate stuff to each other in her fantasies, while she… erm hmm. Y-You must know what I mean, right? D-Don’t make me say this kind of embarrassing stuff out loud! I’ll lose my standing in society. T_T

        • Testsubject909

You should take a look in the Message Board Open Thread.

We’ve got quite a few fangirls who aren’t into Yaoi.

        • Hey, I love gay people, but I want the sexy 2D boys all to myself.

          nyeh heh heh <3

      • s07195

Hey that avatar’s from Kokoro Connect!

    • Mwahahaha

  • epy

I imagine there’s a LOT of people out there that buy games for the bonuses and never actually play the games.

  • z_merquise

I never thought Yusuke Kozaki is one of the artists in this game.

  • Darkrise

For some reason these types of bonus’ don’t excite me anymore. =/ What have I become. T.T

    • M’iau M’iaut

Someone smart and experienced to know that such bonuses at one time could be even sultrier.

    • Mantiskilla

      Mature.  That is all

  • James Smith

I might like these physical retailer bonuses over store exclusive dlc content.

  • Hinataharem

I can understand stuff like Senran Kagura, but why is this game using naked girls to “sell” preorders?

I noticed more and more not-so-fanservicey games getting racy bonus content.

    Not a complaint, however.

  • rebecasunao

I wish game developers/publishers/whatever would stop exploiting female characters to sell their games. If the game is good enough you don’t need to give bonuses depicting half naked (and probably underage) girls. =_=

With that kind of bonus they’re pretty much showing what they think of their target audience. If I was a straight male I would be offended.

    • Vyrus

I’m not. SCREW YOU ALL! I’m getting my ecchi goodness. :D

    • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Well, considering this is Japan there,if you like Japanese game, you just need to adapt with their culture there.^_^

I mean, many Western game is using violence(or more hardcore graphics.) as their main feature to attract gamer there just like how Japanese game company tries to attract gamer by adding more of fanservice there.

It is a bit sad that the male character there does not get some love to lol considering Japanese female gamer would also loves to try the game there if they add some male character bonuses there.^_^

      • neetyneety

You actually raise a good point there. Now that I think about it, Western games are usually marketed towards the hardcore crowd who love blood, violence, insane graphics and all that, while on the other hand Japanese games are more geared towards the otaku crowd, especially in the case of bonuses like these. It all still depends on the genre of the game though.

        • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Yup. I mean even Final Fantasy there had their own sheer of fanservice lol like FF-10.^_^

It is not only for female character there lol they also had a lot of game that is specifically targeted for female crowd.^_^ Koei Musou game there had 70% female player lol.^_^

          • *Koei Mosou game there had 70% female player lol ^_^*

Are you sure???? I thought Capcom’s Sengoku Basara has the most female fanbase…

          • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Well, according to Iwata Ask there, everytime Valentine comes, the number of chocolate send to them by female player is crazily a lot there.^_^

Which Koei developers himself says is quite shocking as it seems many female player loves Musou series due to the simpleness and lots of cool man there.^_^

      • rebecasunao

I don’t think that it “being their culture” excuses anything. I won’t treat Japan as a special country because it’s not just Japanese games that like exploiting women to sell (every kind of industry in any kind of country does that) and it’s not only them who keep targeting most of their games to straight males.

If a game developer or publisher treats females, homosexuals and people that aren’t white as minorities among players they’re just showing how behind they are in time.

ps: My cat was attacking my keyboard while I typed this >_>

        • CirnoLakes

Well put, I like how you said that about all industries. I don’t like how there are ethnocentric, stuck up Westerners out there on Western gaming focused sites who point the finger at Japanese games as being sexualized while the media of their own countries is far from innocent.

Also, on the other hand, I have somewhat mixed feelings about “fanservicey” or sexualized games that appeal to a certain demographic. I don’t like seeing fanservice games and advertisements and bonuses all the time geared toward showing half naked women. But at the same time, I have no problem with, and in fact, love niche otome games. In fact I bought a couple at a recent anime convention. And I certainly would not shy away from fanservice of males and ecchi pictures of them, … especially if they’re quite androgynous like I like.

It’s more the fact I don’t like the idea of this sort of one sided fanservices of showing women’s bodies(not personalities, if anything, realistic female sexuality is uncommon in the media and women’s sexuality has been repressed for centuries) being the norm. It seems to be the norm everywhere, make-up, the fashion industry, Hollywood, Asian film, European film, comics from any country, animation from Japan, and video games are no exception. It’s not so much that it exists, but that it’s the norm.

It’s not that I want this kind of “fanservice” or sexuality to go away entirely. Heck, I think that, well, enjoying the male or female characters on some platonic, infatuo-romantic, or sexual level, motivates a lot of people to create things that aren’t just about shooting things up in first person. This has been going on since very early days in art. Where people expressed lots of platonic, romantic, and sexual longing in art. Even if it just accidentally slipped out in the same way it is difficult to lie without giving off non-verbal signals.

It’s that I’d like to see this sort of thing become less of the norm. I’d like to see more female characters portrayed in the exact same way male characters are. That doesn’t mean to get rid of everything everything feminine or uniquely female in every instance, or what some people have described as “a man with boobs”, though that portrayal isn’t always bad either. But showing female characters more often, without the need to sexualize their bodies in some form or fashion. In the same token, I’d kind of like to see bonafide sexualization of guys become more normal or normalized. Unfortunately, what little fanservice of guys out there that exists, currently has guys in droves yelling and screaming about how “gay” it is.

          • rebecasunao

I wish I could “like” your comment at least a thousand times…

I completely agree with you, we share pretty much the same views about this subject. But I’d like to address what you said about otome games and sexualization of male characters.

I don’t think you can even compare the fanservice you find in otome games to the kind of fanservice you find in games that target straight guys. Some are poorly executed, but most of them don’t objectify the characters – the guys are usually depicted like human beings, not like hot pieces of meat. Even though the characters are usually shallow, I feel like in otome games they do a better job when it comes to portraying sexual desires and sexuality as a whole since they treat the female main character as an equal. It’s far from the ideal, but it’s something already.
So if you can’t compare both kinds of fanservice, I don’t think you should be concerned. You can be against how media treats females and female characters and still enjoy your otome game fanservice. There’s nothing wrong with that.

While using women’s bodies to sell shouldn’t be the norm, I wouldn’t like to see men being exploited. Two wrongs don’t make a right. Women and men should be treated as equals in everything, including advertisements – and that means no objectification or sexism towards any sex or gender.

That said, I do think there should be more fanservice of male characters. I personally don’t enjoy it that much, but as long as it doesn’t objectify the characters (like the bonuses we can see above) it should be fine.

            To everyone else:
There’s nothing wrong with liking fanservice that is targeted to straight males, but as @CirnoLakes:disqus said, it shouldn’t be the norm. And it shouldn’t treat the female characters as fine pieces of T&A.

  • Daniel Morandi

I was going to complain about the fanservice….but Yosuke Kozaki’s female charater is so cool that I would like one of those xDD really. If I play this game all my decision will be for her D:

  • Kevin Lor

I forgot what NSFW stand for until I saw the pictures lol But to me its pretty safe for work :)

    • When ppl r not zooming their eyes in XD

  • keithmaxx

Wow, looking at Yosuke Kozaki’s portfolio I am wowed by his style. I hope to see a localized version with bonuses featuring his artwork!

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Considering i really like all the character art there, i am hoping that if this game come here, we will also get all this bonuses there.^_^

However considering X-Seed is shifting more to digital there, i can see that it is not going to happen here.T_T

  • neetyneety

I like my fanservice as much as the next guy, and I have to admit that sometimes fanservice actually helps push me to continue/pick up a game I would otherwise have dropped. Of course, if the gameplay doesn’t hold up, then I don’t bother for long. I’m talking about in-game fanservice though; I don’t really care for these bonuses because they’re almost always fanservice-y regardless of the tone/style of the game. Guess the Japanese just love their cards depicting scantily-clad underage girls (not that I’m any different, heh).

  • ………………..So conflicted in wht I feel lol. Both side hv their points…….

So instead I am saying: Who your fav female charac?

Regarding the male fanservice….As long as I get to hv Suzuhito Yasuda artwork, sure why not.

    • Davide Costa

Is too early to say which is our favourite character because the game isn’t come out yet.

Don’t forget about Kumihiko Tanaka; Minako Iwasaki; Katsumi Enami and Yoshitaka Amano.

      They’re art is very good.
