Darksiders II Play Footage Shows Off Combat, Platforming, And More

Coin-Op.TV (via Game Jouhou) have posted a bunch of short Darksiders 2 videos to their YouTube channel, giving a good look at combat, inventory management, traversal and more. The combat video in particular is nice, because it shows off how combos, melee and firearm weapons work. Take a look at them below:

      it’s either this or Dishonored, the most 2 unique games this year, I will get pretty angry if someone mention Medal of Honor or Call of Duty, Assassin’s Creed stand a chance too with the improvement, but I would rather the GOTY goes to a newly established IP.

    What I mainly liked about the first game was the fact that it’s so rich and varied in its visual color palette – especially for a drawing style that leans heavily on gruffy/edgy/macho elements. Seems like this game will be continuing that visual style.

      It will expand alot more, we got 4 distinctive worlds, not to mention each world may have different art styles combined within.

      Really Darksiders is an AMAZING series that deserves support.

        I totally agree. Any devs that remember Panzer Dragoon fondly enough to put a good clone of it in their game deserve no shortage of money thrown at them.

        I had “obtained” Darksiders the First since I knew nothing about it, but once I got to that point I immediately went and bought it. It’s a horrible PC port from a technical standpoint, but the gameplay is just so great that I don’t regret buying it one bit.

        It’s the biggest pleasant surprise I’ve had this gen.

          I will be honest, I am a sucker for 2 things, Stealth and Hack n Slash, I bought DS1 day one, I had a blast playing it, I just finished replaying it today and got the platinum too, the game is still really amazing.

          I do agree it is one of the biggest pleasant surprises of this gen, another one comes to mind is Castlevania Lords of Shadow, another over the top crazy super amazing game, I totally loved it, I am at the point where I don’t care about any hack n slash game other than DS2 & CLOS.2, I will skip the new God of War ((will borrow it from a friend tbh)), will skip DmC, will skip Metal Gear Rising Revengance.

          DS2 & CLOS.2 will be more than enough for me.

          yup exactly, but you know what I love about Darksiders is that it satisfy me, I do care about quality, but I also care alot about lenght, DS1 gave me around 20hrs of gameplay or more, in my eyes such a developer deserve my money, cause they respect me, I used to love God of War, and it is amazing, but I can’t put on with a 6hr SP, it just meeeeh to me.

          Also they said if they make DS3 they may get the scale down a bit, this isn’t bad as it seems, since according to the lead designer they want to create a smaller more richer world, than an even bigger world with nothing to do.

          I really hope that it actually sells 4:5 millions, so it can guarantee a sequel.

    So judging by the Platforming video it looks like they’re also taking “inspiration” from Prince of Persia this time around.

    It’s looking great except… that I never liked when some character takes weapons out of his ass during combos. Same stands here.
